We arrived around 4:15 pm and another family was being checked in ahead of us. When it was my turn the attendant was very nice. When she handed me the room keys I asked for a room on the second floor. She said the bottom floor was safe and all windows and doors locked. I stated I was trying to get a nice view. She responded they tried to fill the bottom floor first and was not sure if housekeeping was finished cleaning at that time. I should have asked if I could leave and check in later like my gut told me to, but I didn't
When we arrived in room 117, there were no extra pillows or towels as was requested. Maybe a shortage, not a big deal. The TV remote looked like a busted can of biscuits. Somehow my son was still able to hook up his game system. Thank God for technology even though it was a family vacation.
There were photos of a waffle maker (one main reason why I booked this hotel) however upon going to breakfast there was only cold cereal and mini muffins (one per guest). Not one of the photos on their site is accurate. The orange juice is creamy. Muffins cold. Cereal, well she only ate the fruit loops.
I called the front desk with my cell phone as the phone in our room did not work. The man that answered seemed to not understand that I was telling him our toilet had back up and he seemed in rushed to get off the phone. I waited about 15 minutes and walked to the front desk and explained I had called about room 117. The lady said housekeeping would be there when they arrived. After looking at her watch, she asked me if I knew how to plunge a toilet. I was a little shocked at the question, but I also had 2 teens and an 11 year old waking up. I said, I guess I could try. She proceeded to look for a plunger to no avail. She said it was in housekeepings cart and she would send them as soon as they were in.
The backdoor never locked as it should have. There were no vending, or ice machines. Our ice bucket had "lotion" written on it. There were dry bloody boogers on the wall in the bathroom behind the towels that I did not even seen until the second night were we there. Upon further review of the bathroom, there were blood splatter on the wall in front of the commode.
The floors were not clean as tested by jelly unnoticeably dropped by the "infamous, Not Me" until stepped on. Guess what, that same spot was still sticky when we checked out. Microwave had some substance in it, again not discovered until the second day.
When I went to check out the attendant was checking out another lady asking how her stay was and if she enjoyed everything. To hich the lady stated she did and everything was great. I then watched her get onto the elevator going up. Hmm.
When it was my turn the attendant did not ask me not one time how my stay was. She asked my room number and if I wanted a receipt. So, I'm sure she knew. While waiting on my receipt the attendant was on the phone and told the person "yes ma'am I am checking out another guest give me a moment, please" shortly afterwards she stated "I am just printing her receipt".
I tried to over look a lot of things, but honestly this was just gross. My best advice is if you do book with this hotel, don't get there before 5:00 pm maybe even 6. I will never stay there again. All of the things you read from others about his place, no matter how long ago it's all accurate and they haven't fixed anything.
My 14 year old plays football so we end up traveling for different events out of state. He said "Momma, this is the nastiest place we've ever stayed in". So coming from a 14...
Read moreAbsolute worst experience at a hotel in my life. The management at Super 8 Wyndham Hot Springs should be fired for being rude, unprofessional, and incompetent. I had paid through Expedia for two nights, and when I checked in on Friday afternoon, they had no issues with the reservation. They had me give my card information for a "refundable deposit" for $50, and when I asked what it was for she said, "for any damages from smoking and pets." I just had driven seven hours with my dog, so I willingly gave my card for this deposit, though she was barely in the room and I knew she would not cause damage.
Friday night at 10 pm, a family tried relentlessly for a good five minutes to get into my room with their card key. I politely told them I was already occupying the room. Saturday night at 9 pm, another family does the same thing, claiming the management had told them this was their room. I, again, politely told them this room was occupied.
A few minutes later, two ladies from management come knocking on my door demanding rudely I tell them why I am in a room I did not pay for and that I have to check in at the front desk. I did pay, it was already taken off my credit card and even the lady who checked me in was there, she realized this and apologized, saying the room was showing as vacant.
Thirty minutes later, the other management lady (the one I did not check in with) came and demanded I tell her that I have a dog in my room as she tries to claim she had no idea even though I have proof of the deposit that they literally told me was for "smoking and pets."
She claimed that the room was not for pets even though they had never once informed me of this. Why would there be a deposit for smoking and pets for a room that was not for this? The woman continued to berate me for having a dog in my room and that she claimed I had not paid, even though I had.
Later, she could be heard down the hall, mocking me and another customer to a fellow employee--probably not realizing the entire floor could hear her.
I checked out of the hotel the next morning, where she continued to berate me for having a dog and blaming ME for the situation even though the reason she was at my door was not the dog (which I genuinely had no idea I was not supposed to have considering, for starters, the deposit) and claiming I was not even supposed to be in that room to begin with even though they gave me the keys to that room.
I have never been treated so poorly at a hotel, especially considering she was blaming me for their own mistake and miscommunication. The front desk woman, Melinda, was the epitome of unprofessional and rude. Even when I addressed my concerns about people trying to get into my room, she rolled her eyes and told me "it was ONLY two people", not to mention the fact she had kept me up until almost 11 pm about this problem and I had to drive home seven hours the next morning, so exhausted from it that I had to keep from falling asleep at the wheel.
All in all, this was an absolutely awful experience because the management team of this hotel are rude and unprofessional individuals who, in my opinion, should not be running a hotel at all. I hope that someone will fix this as no one should have to be berated like I was for a situation that was...
Read morePositive: The overnight guy was pretty good at the breakfast stuff. There were no bugs. That's about it.. Negative: Oh boy, where to start..... Check in: First, he was going to put us in a smoking and non smoking room.... I said NO, I paid for 2 nonsmoking rooms. We all get up there and find out one of the rooms was a king room.... I went back and said NO, I paid for 2 double queen rooms. He tried to pawn it off on the booking website, which is amusing, as it was very clearly stated in the email I got what I booked. Swimming pool: we checked in for Memorial day weekend. For everyone else in the USofA this is the official start of summer and 99.9% of pools open that weekend. But nope, they apparently couldn't get the health inspector out in time to inspect it. Which I feel pretty strongly is a load of crap considering the hot tub wasn't even clean or filled, and the pool was nasty (we went around back and took a look). The hotel: The elevator was broke down. I think I read a review from A FEW MONTHS AGO that also said the elevator was broke down. Way to get on that, guys. So we haul our gear to the second floor.... to a hallway that smelled so strongly of pot smoke one of our group was tempted to knock on doors and ask whoever it was to share. The rooms: one room smelled faintly of urine, the other of old paint. The urine room TV wall lamp didn't work at all, and the lamps on the bed wall were unplugged. The bathtub had a huge crack in it and was dingy. The paint smelling room only had 2 out 4 lamps that worked. The fridges in both rooms looked like they would've been at home in the 80s. No fitted sheets on the beds (that's not a typical practice btw, one of our group was a hotel maid in the past). Those beds were probably about as comfortable as the floor would've been. The carpet was ancient and super dingy.... at the very least it needed shampooed badly. We paid $100 per room per night. I wish I'd just stayed at the econolodge for the garbage we ended up in..... at least then it wouldn't have felt like...
