Roaches in the Room – No Accountability from Staff or Management I checked into the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Houston North – IAH Area on June 2, 2025 around 11pm. The room had a damp, moldly smell, however, many Houston hotels developed mold issues after the hurricane and never addressed them, so I tried to ignore the scent. However, at 5 AM the next morning, I woke up to roaches crawling on my personal items, on my leftover food, on the hotel furniture. Everywhere. I was completely horrified. I shook out my clothes and immediately packed up my things and went to the front desk to report the issue. I spoke with a staff member named Ricardo, who seemed completely unbothered and not the least bit surprised. When I told him there were roaches in the room, his only response was “oh.” I asked him if he knew this, he said we don’t have anything noted for “that room”. Huh?!?!? So you clearly KNOW there is a roach problem in here! And roaches don’t discriminate by room number. If you have them, you have them everywhere! I asked about the refund process and explained I was leaving due to the clear sanitation issue. He told me the manager, Maria, would be in at 7 AM and would call me. I asked for her card as well as for the district or regional managers information. He gave me a card, the name Tanya, and said he could provide nothing else. Maria never called. I tried reaching her by phone on both June 3rd and 4th and was denied the opportunity to speak to her each time. No apology, no refund, and no follow-up. The complete lack of accountability from both staff and management was unacceptable. I paid for a clean and safe place to sleep and instead had to deal with a health hazard and indifference. I would strongly caution anyone considering a stay here, if something goes wrong, don’t expect support or resolution.

We were woken up by the loudest fire alarm twice in the night. Soap in the bathroom was empty and not refilled. Elevators were both down. And when we went for breakfast at 9.35am on 4th of July, which is a holiday, they told us they had already closed. Sign clearly says 7-10 on weekends/holidays. The worst part was the rude answer from the staff, as when we pointed out the sign, instead of trying to accommodate us and apologize for their mistake, they just said they had already closed (closed at 9.30, 5 mins prior) and they were just not going to restock anything. Very poor service and would not recommend. EDIT: Second night staying at this hotel. No alarm this time which is good, however there was no breakfast left at 9am. As they could not use the same excuse as yesterday, since it was obviously before the closing time, the response was a blunt "we don't have any more food" and that's it. The room was full of hungry guests that could only have a coffee and were complaining about the lack of food. They advertise free breakfast but don't expect it. Save your money. EDIT 2: Took one start off the rooms rating because when we got back to our room, that had been serviced, we found a nasty toilet brush inside a burger king cup on the bathroom counter, among my hair brush and other personal items. How disgusting is that? Regarding breakfast, there was no coffee, no milk, no eggs and no forks. People were waiting at their tables for some food to come out while eating bacon with spoons.

I love the holiday inn. There were some issues that could’ve been fixed!!! There was a boys baseball league the parents were not able to control the children they were running up and down the halls of the hotel Fortunately, the manager was able to control it when she could did get it under control. She was awesome, well the breakfast was amazing but again the children were coughing and sneezing all over food and playing around with it their parents did not control them!! The manger on duty handled it well She’s AMAZING!!! the problem I had with the restroom the toilet kept getting stopped up the tub stopper wasn’t working properly those issues may seem minor but they were MAJOR!! the best part corrected by the manager. She was amazing and the kitchen staff was amazing. The food was great. The beds were comfortable and clean. I would love to write a 10 but because of the issues that I had getting into the hotel No expectations were given to me for when booking over the phone with live holiday inn representative She did not set the expectations for me I was completely unaware of having to have a deposit on my card (I did ask) THAT WAS VERY INCONVENIENT!!! over phone operator representative through Holiday Inn, never let me know that I would have too!!! In fact, the question was asked and I was told I didn’t have to make a deposit It was unexpected!! I do believe however, the people online over the phone should have the same rules or regulations that they have in the actual Holiday Inn/Aldine Rd Houston Texas This was to be a great time for me. It was a family reunion that I hadn’t been to in over 10 years I was excited to see a lot of people especially since my mom passed away last year and she was not able to join me, so it just put a damper and I was kind of depressed on the things that I was not expecting upon arrival to be booked in so that part needs to be taken care of expect expectation is what should be set for the customer and the actual holiday inn, and or the operators, the representatives that book should all have the same criteria I would normally give a 10 but because of the issues I had to go through. I had to come in and I wasn’t able to go right to the room because it was already booked. I had to make sure I have money to put down on deposit, which I wasn’t aware of that was a minus the room was absolutely clean, but the toilet kept getting stopped up the tub stopper, which is the iron was not able to hold water in and I was booked during the time of a little boys baseball games league and so they were running up and down the hall, but as I stated the manager, sweet, beautiful young lady, she handled it, but it was up to the parents so again I would love to give a 10 but I am at a four. Thank you so much for your stay I hope and pray that I am able to say again, but I would like it to be in a better environment and those things fixed. Also the tub was very slippery and that is something that they may want to make sure they take care of especially when it comes to senior citizens and children. I am a senior citizen ID book in on a senior citizens, but I was not given that discount what was told to me over the phone was not told was not done at the actual Holiday Inn site. However, she did give me a discount, but it wasn’t what I was told when I booked the room over the phone and I was stuck in traffic I thought I was gonna be late so I did call to let them know to make sure that the room was booked and yes it was booked so there’s no excuse as to why I did not get my discount as a senior citizen in as what I was told and plus I am a member of the...

Stay away from this hotel.

When I checked in, I went to my room. The television wasn't working. I tried to call down to the front desk, but the phone wasn't working. I walked down to the front desk and the woman at the desk was professional and eventually found me a different room. She did say that she check my new room first - to make sure it had been cleaned and to make sure it didn't smell bad. When I came into the room, the purfumy smell was very strong. I was wondering what they were trying to cover up. Apparently, bad smelling rooms is a problem at this hotel.

The next morning, I went to breakfast. There was a man near the food line dressed in a dirty black tshirt and dirty stretched out black sweatpants taking very loudly (not quite yelling) and waving his finger at another man. I thought a family was have an inappropiate spat in front of everyone at breakfast. I was wrong. The man then went into the kitchen area - like he worked at the hotel. A few moments later, he came out and was scolding a women who are refilling the eggs on the buffet. He was blocking people from getting up to the buffet, so I had to wait. Then he got 3 biscuits, covered them in gravy, then got several saugage links and some orange juice. He announced loudly to the people in the kitchen area that he was eating breakfast and then going upstairs. He talked to the front desk and ate his breakfast at the desk - making it difficult for a customer to get up to the front desk.

I asked one of the employees in the breakfast area who the man was.... he is Mark, the assistant general manager.

I went to the front desk to get the business card for the general manager. The women behind the desk asked me if there was a problem. I simply said it wasn't a pleasant breakfast with the asst. general manager almost yelling at a couple of employees. She said... I was yelling at an employee, he wasn't. I was shocked. I saw his inappropiate and unprofessional behavior toward a few employees. She was not admitting that she also yelled at an employee. Apparently this behavior is standard and acceptable at this hotel.

On top of that, the bathrooms are not that clean. The grout in the shower is shades of grey to black with what I assume is a little mold. I bought some bleach-based cleaner from the store down the street and sprayed the shower walls.

I have stayed in many Holiday Inn Expresses. I would never recommend someone stay at this hotel. I wore socks in the room because I wasn't sure about how clean...

I wanted to extend my stay but use another credit card. I was notified that I can check in in the morning for my second stay in the same room by the front desk person. I made a reservation online the night before and asked the person in the front desk, Randy if I can stay in the same room with that reservation in the morning I was originally supposed to check out. Randy then said no and that I would be charged unless I check out and check back in causing me to move all my belongings to my car to go to work then come back to check back in and that I couldn’t stay in the same room because the room I had booked was a king room and not queen (which I was previously upgraded to a queen suite). I wasn't a fan of that because my belongings will be exposed. Randy told me that his computer was going through an audit so he couldn't do anything but then I asked if he can write a note saying that I would leave my things in the room and check in when I got back from work but he said no and that he would get fired if he did. He then falsely accused us of yelling at him and cursing at him and that security was being called to kick me out and if I didn’t leave I would be arrested. I then went to my room and called Guest Services and told her of my situation who then said that I would be able to stay in the same room at the same rate and then called Randy to walk him through how to do what I had wanted. I was then able to check back in and after I checked out the next day, I noticed that I was charged more for the room then what I had paid online and what the Guest Services lady said I would pay. I then was able to talk to Brie Smith who told me that she would be able to change the rate and offered to get me lunch (since I was there on my lunch break which was nice). She then said that the GM would get back to me on if my rate would be changed. Later I never got any word from the GM and Brie Smith started ignoring my calls and emails. So this has been the worst stay I have ever had from being falsely accused of yelling and cursing at Randy to Brie Smith saying that she would work with me only to ignore...
