Suburban Studios Houston North I-45 — Hotel in Houston

Pay very close attention to the Negative reviews because they are true. I actually stayed there in 2008 and it was a decent place. This past November 2023 I booked the place again because all the online photos looked like it did in 2008. WRONG!!!!!!!!!! My first hint should of been the taxi driver dropping me from the airport saying you sure this is where you want to stay. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and checked in second hint was they had no one at the front desk for check in and when someone did show up they only had a felt marker for me to sign with .................that's right NO PEN. I got my room key and went to the room I was given and opened the door to an unmade bed, trash and empty pizza boxes shower rod on the messed up dirty bathroom floor. I immediately returned to the front desk and told them there was no way I was staying there here is your key I want my money back......................I was told since the only person to do this won't be available until next week we can't. I then called my credit card provided and put a stop payment on the charge. I left the property walking to the nearest service station before calling for a ride up the road to a much nicer place. This all occurred on Nov 04 2023 my CC put the stop payment on there today Dec 14 there is a charge for $79.00 from these people my next call is to the CC to put a stop payment on the most recent charge. people pay attention to the negative reviews and ask where all these super duper 5 star reviews come from. the owner mention to one on the negative reviewers he didn't even go in and check the place out. well I did and everything the other negative review said is absolutely TRUE 100%. Save your $$$ DO NOT STAY HERE. As I told my daughter my spidy senses were not tingling they were STABBING me telling me DO NOT SPEND THE NIGHT HERE.

Nearly booked this place online because I'm going to be working in the area and need a long stay for a good price. So glad that I have experience in Houston and know enough to go check the rooms before booking. This is the first place I've ever driven through the parking lot and within 20 seconds knew there was 100% chance of not ever staying here.

There are some muscles up gents w wife beater tank tops and spandex rags on their heads, over the ear headphones, a slim Jim & tools trying to get into a truck (because I have locked myself out before, I would naturally assumed that they did too, and perhaps they did, but the long suspicious look they gave me as I drove by didn't make me feel like these were just some nice gentleman who forgot their keys).

As I rounded the building there was a raggedly looking couple sitting on the curb to the back entrance with a full grown pit bull on a leash. The skinny 120 lb max lady had zero chance of controlling a dog like that.

Then I pulled over to decide if I even wanted to park and go look at a room. I took a deep breath and said, it can't be that bad. Then I see pedestrians with backpacks walking by, one gave me another extra long ghetto stair down and put his hand in his pocket and walked by. This made me realize the security situation is basically non existant (unless perhaps I make friends with the Pitbull owners and the rough tough-looking guys out in the parking lot trying to get into a vehicle).

I nearly forgot, as I drove around the parking lot there were several cars with plastic duct taped around window openings where there used to be glass.

This review is intended to have a tinge of sarcasm, but it's actually 100% accurate and not an exaggeration. Consider it a warning to those who may have the ability to find somewhere nicer. This is the first time I've circled a parking lot of a place I researched online expecting to stay there and drove right out.

Got in at 1 am after driving 15 hours straight for work, only to walk inside the lobby to find a sign that said lobby closed from 11 pm to 7 am. So I had to find another hotel for the night. I had already booked for the whole week and couldn’t get a refund so I came back the next day (yesterday) to check in. The front desk was nice and helpful, and I already knew I wouldn’t get refunded for the night before so I didn’t even bother asking. Got to my room and was immediately smacked with the smell of stale cigarette smoke, even tho I had requested a non smoking room. There is also no comforter on the bed. The tv remote does not work. And so far I had killed 2 roaches in the 1 day I have been here. Since I can’t get a refund, I will be forced to stay the rest of the week, but I will never stay at this location again, and I am honestly considering not going with any comfort hotel lines again. I travel a lot for work, and have stayed in many many hotels. I am a platinum member of the comfort rewards program. This is the 2nd worst one I have ever stayed at, and I am very displeased

Reply: No, it is not stated anywhere on the comfort rewards app (my booking app) that your hotel lobby is closed at 11pm. On top of that, I stood in the lobby for atleast 15 minutes waiting for someone to come, as well as called the hotel phone, to which no one answered or came to the lobby. As for the cigarette smell, it isn’t a light odor that could be easily missed. Also, there is at-least a 1” gap at the bottom of the door to the hall. Lastly, I just woke up to a cockroach crawling on the bed. I will be ending my stay early and checking out tomorrow, even if I can’t get a refund and lose money. For anyone reading these reviews, please don’t make the same mistake I did and assume the bad reviews were just disgruntled guest.
