All I have to say is wow! I recommend this spa to all of my friends. Being a spaist (made up word)...I have had the chance to visit many types of spas around the world (I basically try to visit a spa everywhere I go, because I can). The Trellis Spa, which is down the street from where I work, is a work of art. Even though I may not seem like your typical type of person to be seen at a spa (basically not rich) the staff treated me like I was queen (i have had bad experience of being mistaken for the staff at another spa once, not pleasant).
When I walked in and I said my name, they knew exactly where I was to go. I came very early in the morning because I had 5 hours of services (booyah!). I was shown to a very deserted locker room (nice privacy in the mornings), and given a robe. Let me tell you something, the robe did not fit. I am a busty woman and I was afraid they were going to tell me it was the largest size they had....no such thing, they had a plus size robe that would have charmed the pants off any busty woman. I was set. There are two saunas in the women's area and a whirlpool. You could use a bathing suit or not. I am more of a free spirit, but I did not want to make others uncomfortable so I settled for a lay by the warm pool and some refreshing water while waiting for my first treatment which was a massage.
The waiting area for the massage has two areas a regular area with couches and chaise lounges and chairs with ottomans, and the quiet area with chaises, a fireplace and ultimate silence. I stayed in the regular area before my massage (it was still early and I was the only one there). My massage therapist was an amazing woman (nothing against men therapist, but I feel like I can be open more with a woman...not in that sense crazies). She was magnificent and got all the areas we talked about. I then had an early lunch due to my having a Mani/Pedi next. The chicken Caesar wrap was awesome and perfectly portioned. Did not make me too full and the glass of wine relaxed me even more.
By this time the spa is getting more people and it is time for my Mani/Pedi. The same lady does my nails and my toes and she is hilarious. I know some people don't like to talk during spa time, but since the Mani/Pedi room is separate sort of from the rest of the spa, it was nice to listen to the woman talk about her life in NY and her family. She had me cracking up.
Finally it is time for my last service, a facial. By this time the place is crawling with people and I opt to go into the silent room. it is really nice...I almost fall asleep until I see my technician looking for me in the regular room. I feel like jelly and I am ready for the facial. It was so soothing and relaxing I am pretty sure I fell in and out of consciousness , and snored a little bit. That is how relaxed I felt around the technician.
After this last service, I know I can relax some more and hang out in the sauna, but I had already tried everything included and I was ready to go...I had to get back to real life (being at trellis I felt like I was in another city...it was awesome). It was time to get back to Houston traffic. All in all I still recommend this spa to everyone who ask me for a place to go. I can't wait to be able to go again. Everyone at least in my opinion were super accommodating and nice. I can say that because I have been to some spas that acted like they didn't even want your...
Read moreWell, my car door was opened and I was assisted to the front desk. I was checked in and they assisted me to my room, I went to see the view which was lovely from room 402 - the bellman had trouble with my bag and disturbed me so I turned around swiftly to assist him so he would leave and my knee went directly into the coffee table and I yelped in pain and cursed and he stood their awkwardly staring at me and didn't offer ice I said it hurt and sat on the bed until he finally left. I was determined not to let it ruin my stay, so I went to eat at Tribute for lunch which was nice- I left a review. Next I headed to Trellis spa and enjoyed it very much, Richard gave me a lovey facial although the mani pedi lady made me feel a bit rushed. The reflection pool was calming and the grounds were well manicured and peaceful. Staff kept us stocked with water and the steam room offers cold cucumbers and towels, the upstairs offers an array of fine teas and butter cookies. I found the chatty women a bit annoying. I went to leave and the recommendations Richard said he would leave for me weren't there. I walked back to the room very relaxed - the hydro facial had some great head massaging - I wish they had a golf cart shuttle around that big campus, the decor is elegant old southern charm with diverse art galleries. I meant to go to the meditation class at the club but the concierge never gave me the itinerary I requested and I was so relaxed, I forgot. I ordered dinner in room to compare to the dining experience and was overcharged - they did not correct it at checkout and didn't respond when I inquired for the error. They did allow me to check in early and checkout late, which I appreciated. The in room dining was not the best experience and I was confused because it comes from the same kitchen - I was disappointed- I wish I ordered something else. Oh well, $100 for one steak and fruit seemed bizarre. I'm disappointed they didn't correct it, not because of the money but the principle. I was delighted at the surprise birthday Prosecco and strawberries they left in my room though, the maid woke me out of bed twice in the morning while I was enjoying my sleep. The newly renovated rooms came stocked with everything you would assume, nothing special. The salty chocolates were a nice touch. I also liked the google chromecast on the TV, to watch Hulu. They don't have pastries during the week and we're out of the dessert I had wanted. When I finally got up I checked out the pool, the slide was nice, the pool had quite a bit of debris possibly from the waterfall. The clubhouse was under construction but the locker rooms were what you would expect of an upscale club. The garden pool 18+ always had kids in it. The bed was comfy but very very firm. I couldn't sleep on my belly because the giant bruise from the injury. I did like the eucalyptus in the steam room in ladies locker and the gym is large and clean, I didn't get a chance to see the tennis courts or play because of my knee, and the stretch yoga was really really nice but again my knee sort of inhibited it. I skipped the meditation class because I needed to checkout but they allowed my sons and husband to join me at the pool for a few hours past checkout and enjoy the nachos from the arbor grill and some cocktails. The robes were very...

I'm a Houston resident and my wife has been to the spa several times before, and I've been to the club before with a friend. This hotel has a nice campus and boasts a top rating as a Texas resort by Travel and Leisure due to their amenities (club, spa etc). So we decided to do a staycation and stay 2 nights here for New Years weekend with the plan to spend New Years eve at the spa and club. After all, the big draw here are the amenities.
Checked in Friday night -- everyone was friendly. Nice decor in the lobby, and room was clean (albeit small, shower had lower water pressure, and the sink was unable to get hot water).
Saturday AM we woke up leisurely, had breakfast and had a few spa treatments, then we excitedly went back to our room and got ready to spend all afternoon at the club to work out and lounge in the resort pools.
To our shock, the club and pools were closed. A security guard said they closed at 2 pm (this was about 2:30 pm).
This was an absolute gut punch. The whole reason we booked our stay was to stay at the club Saturday. When we booked the room, we got an email touting the hotels club and spa amenities. The night before, when we checked in, the hotel staff was mentioning how awesome the pools have been with the warmer weather and that we should check it out Saturday. Not a single mention that it was closing early for New Years. On the website, the Saturday hours said 6 am to 9 pm. No mention of closing early for New Years. No one told us anything at all. When I talked to the staff about it, I was offered a free breakfast the next morning, a nice gesture but we weren't able to take advantage of it (already had outside breakfast plans that morning) and in no way did that make up for the ruined experience. Beyond that no one seemed to care.
We couldn't be more frustrated and disappointed. At that point, we were stuck in the hotel with no amenities and just decided to go spend the afternoon and evening outside the hotel. We had to leave early the next morning, and spend $600 a night for pretty much a small room with no amenities.
I felt like it was a massive blunder that the it was not communicated to us the club and pools were closing early. Had I at least known I would have went first thing in the morning to use it before it closed. I would not stay at this hotel ever again and would not recommend it to anyone...
