My boyfriend surprised me with a visit to the spa for my 40th birthday. I received a hot rock massage, an exfoliating food rub, and a facial. My massage was AMAAAAAAZING!!!! I believe the masseuse’s name was Nick. He was THE BEST!!! And he even gave me suggestions on how to loosen up the tense muscles in my lower back. I would recommend him a thousand times! As for my facial, I can’t say that I enjoyed it as much. I hate to give a bad review but it just wasn’t a relaxing experience to me. While Lolo was super sweet, I thought the extraction was intense and uncomfortable. I also didn’t like the way that she pointed everything out. Like ā€œOkay, let me see what we have here. Black heads here, over here, and here. You need to hydrate hydrate hydrate.ā€ And because the extractions were so intense, it left my face bumpy and swollen and it didn’t go down for dinner that night. And here we are 5 days later and I have brush-like burns on my face that weren’t there before. I don’t claim to have flawless skin. I actually went in there with a lot of blemishes. But I’ve had facials before and I’ve never been swollen and red afterwards :( But like I said, she was very sweet. Maybe my skin was just that bad. šŸ¤·šŸ¾ā€ā™€ļø

The spa was fantastic. There was a little scheduling issue but the staff took care of that for us and Celeste was wonderful and so helpful and knowledgeable. Our massage therapists were the same- friendly, helpful, and work magic with their hands. I truly had one of the best massage im a while. The spa rooms were serene and clean . There was a co ed lounge where you could chill out . You do get two complimentary drinks . I wish the spa was bigger with more lounging area . The jacuzzi was a bit small I think only 3-5 could fit in it and it would be a tight squeeze. I never found the steam room unless that doubled as a shower. Overall it was really worth it for the personalization and quality of the services . I agree that this place is a gem !!! So nice to have spa like this in Houston! The hotel was also gorgeous although we did not stay here. I heard there is a black swan nightclub as well . We also got to meet some adorable swans! They look well cared for and I hope they are ! and

Cold Staff, Rude Front Desk, and a Disconnected Therapist — Never Coming Back

From the moment I arrived at Mokara Spa, the experience was a letdown. The front desk staff set the tone with a cold, dismissive attitude — no warmth, no welcome, just clipped words and eye rolls like I was an inconvenience for showing up. Not exactly the vibe you want before a spa treatment.

Then came the session with Evelyn, the massage therapist. It felt robotic and rushed — no presence, no care, just going through the motions. She didn’t ask meaningful questions, didn’t check in, and barely acknowledged my concerns. I’ve had better massages at walk-in strip mall spas.

The entire energy of the place felt like they were doing guests a favor by letting us in. Definitely not worth the price, and certainly not the reputation. I won’t be back — and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone seeking real...
