In addition to the problem noted below (and read from the bottom to the top as it has been copied and pasted from email) the telephone in the room did not work. The bathroom floor under the sink area was not swept. The coffee in the lobby was old and cold. Read moreI booked this hotel in July for my family (2 adults, 2 kids) vacation scheduled 10/10-14/22. We were heading to Houston to see family and site-see. When we arrived to the hotel after a long weekend in the car, we were greeted with a sign stating the pool was out of order until further notice. Had I known this in advance, I would have found another hotel. We were told we could walk to the Fairfield across the street, but after a long drive, we just wanted to relax, not go to a different hotel to swim. Once we were in our room, we noted that the tub faucet runs constantly. Aesthetically, our room was ok but could use some updates. We tried to call the front desk from both phones and neither worked. We informed them and they said, "okay". I called the Country Inn & Suites corporate number to discuss the pool and was told they'd give my information to the general manager and to keep my phone "open". I didn't hear from them Monday night. Tuesday we did the tourist thing and upon return, the pool was still out of order. I also hadn't received a call yet, so I called corporate again. And again I was told to keep my phone "open" because the GM would call me. Wednesday we again went out and about. When we returned, we noticed that the sign on the front desk and the one taped to the pool door were gone. I asked the front desk person about the 2 signs being down but he stated the pool was still closed and would possibly be open Thursday (today). Today, after the zoo, I stopped to ask if the pool was open and I was informed that it was. Our last night here and the pool is FINALLY OPEN! I have yet to hear from the GM. If you need to do laundry, the hotel does not have any detergent you can buy (they told my son they needed to look for it, then after a few minutes, came back and told him they didn't have any), so bring some of be prepared to go out and buy some. Also make sure you have quarters. If the machines are working, they don't have quarters for you to buy. Breakfast is pretty standard continental breakfast - powdered scrambled eggs, toast/bagels/English muffins, bacon or sausage, waffles, cereal, etc. The dining area was clean and staff kept the food pretty well stocked. The location is okay - mall, restaurants, stores near by. The entire pool situation seems to have overshadowed most of the "good" about this hotel for my family. When we come back to Houston, we will likely look for another hotel, and possibly...
Read moreI wish we would have paid better attention to the reviews before booking. I DO NOT recommend this place. After a 15-hour drive, through the night, we arrived at the hotel at about 6 pm. We traveled with another family who also booked a room here. We checked in and were given room 317. Arriving at the door to the room was the first clue to the type of lodging . The paint on the door was peeling from being painted over and over. There were obvious peeled layers that had just been painted over. We walked in, and the room smelled musty, like stale cigarette smoke. We immediately found stains on the wall, cigarette ash on top of the "clean", made up, bed and there was a hole in the ceiling above the shower. The beds were also very low to the ground and looked lumpy. My husband went and asked for another room. My brother was actually at the front desk when he arrived, asking to be moved because their bathroom door wouldn't close. We were both moved to the 4th floor. That door was fine, but we walked in and found a patch of missing carpet right in front of the door. Our family was being picked up at 7 pm, so we dropped our bags and left in a hurry and didn't look around. When we got back at 11 pm, exhausted and ready to shower and go to bed, we started to notice other things. The carpets (in both rooms) are horribly stained. The second room we were in had missing patches in different places on the carpet. There was hair on the bed, and stains on the wall. We went to my brother's room, and they said they were packing up and going to leave because they saw a roach in the pool area when they took their son swimming. The young lady at the front desk offered to move us again, but by this point, we would rather just sleep on our cars. She very apologetically said she would let housekeeping know and recommended their sister hotel next door. While their issues go way beyond housekeeping, we appreciated her efforts in trying to make things right. I will give her props for her professionalism and efforts, but that is the only positive thing...
