I wish we would have paid better attention to the reviews before booking. I DO NOT recommend this place. After a 15-hour drive, through the night, we arrived at the hotel at about 6 pm. We traveled with another family who also booked a room here. We checked in and were given room 317. Arriving at the door to the room was the first clue to the type of lodging . The paint on the door was peeling from being painted over and over. There were obvious peeled layers that had just been painted over. We walked in, and the room smelled musty, like stale cigarette smoke. We immediately found stains on the wall, cigarette ash on top of the "clean", made up, bed and there was a hole in the ceiling above the shower. The beds were also very low to the ground and looked lumpy. My husband went and asked for another room. My brother was actually at the front desk when he arrived, asking to be moved because their bathroom door wouldn't close. We were both moved to the 4th floor. That door was fine, but we walked in and found a patch of missing carpet right in front of the door. Our family was being picked up at 7 pm, so we dropped our bags and left in a hurry and didn't look around. When we got back at 11 pm, exhausted and ready to shower and go to bed, we started to notice other things. The carpets (in both rooms) are horribly stained. The second room we were in had missing patches in different places on the carpet. There was hair on the bed, and stains on the wall. We went to my brother's room, and they said they were packing up and going to leave because they saw a roach in the pool area when they took their son swimming. The young lady at the front desk offered to move us again, but by this point, we would rather just sleep on our cars. She very apologetically said she would let housekeeping know and recommended their sister hotel next door. While their issues go way beyond housekeeping, we appreciated her efforts in trying to make things right. I will give her props for her professionalism and efforts, but that is the only positive thing at that place.

Overall, this hotel is okay. The location is great, about 10 minutes away from the airport and quite close to a mall (but we didn't visit the mall). Getting into and out of the hotel was easy, as the one-way road is not busy. It is also along the highway, so it's easy to get to places. Additionally, price was affordable. Quite good for what it offered, compared to others in the area. The exterior looks in good condition. The lobby and dining area was remodeled, so it looks nice. However, the rooms were not very updated. It's updated a little, where it doesn't look like a cheap motel, but you can still see (and smell) signs of aging. When we arrived, we had to wait maybe 10 minutes before somebody came to help us check-in. The lady who helped us didn't inform us anything (like breakfast times, check-out times, wi-fi, etc). I don't think she even apologized for having us wait. However, I do not think she was rude. The rooms were decent. However, they only provided us with 3 square pillows per bed. That was the first time I've ever experienced that. The bathroom was quite spacious. The tub floor was a bit stained, or something, so we used slippers inside. The ceiling above the tub had a weird, but small bulge. I did appreciate the microwave and fridge. Breakfast was a joke. Cereal was stale, with not many appetizing choices. The only warm, cooked food were biscuits and gravy. Regular bread, apples, and instant oatmeal were available. Instant coffee and tea were available all day. Swimming pool was working at this time (04/2023), but we didn't avail to it. Ice machine on the 2nd floor didn't work, but the 3rd floor worked. While I mentioned all those negatives, I still think it was a decent stay for the price, location, and sleepable conditions.

I wanted four things in my hotel stay: free breakfast, airport shuttle, pool and close proximity to the airport. This place checks every box....online. But when you call ahead for a shuttle....oh we don't have one today. Then when you arrive, there's a sign posted at the desk stating there isn't a shuttle. I don't think they've had one for a while. That leads to an added expense for taxi service. The pool was open yesterday, closed today. So I ended up with only half of what I wanted. The lobby is cute, so it makes a good first impression. Too bad we can't stay in the lobby. The room is...quirky. The rusted HVAC vent cover keeps falling off. One of the dresser drawers rolls out when you walk by (staff said it's because the hotel is on a hill....?) and the drawer below is broken. The pullout sofa bed is absolutely horrid. I mean....the thing should be burned. (We've decided not to use it.) The toilet runs. They offered that we switch rooms, but if this is what they consider acceptable in the first place, what's the point? Plus, we'd already cleaned the place and stocked the fridge/cabinet. We were tired when we noticed some of the issues. I will say, when I did my own clean, none of the surfaces turned up dirty. Kudos to the housekeeping staff. It's been quiet. We haven't heard any noise from neighbors. So that's also good. If you just want a place to catch some sleep that has WiFi, is near the airport, and you have your own car to get around.....I guess it could work for you. But, if you work hard for your vacations and want a decent place to relax, this isn't it. Now that we've completed our stay: the pool never reopened and the no shuttle sign stayed up for the duration of our trip. Breakfast was good, they made slight changes each day.

In addition to the problem noted below (and read from the bottom to the top as it has been copied and pasted from email) the telephone in the room did not work. I booked this hotel in July for my family (2 adults, 2 kids) vacation scheduled 10/10-14/22. We were heading to Houston to see family and site-see. When we arrived to the hotel after a long weekend in the car, we were greeted with a sign stating the pool was out of order until further notice. Had I known this in advance, I would have found another hotel. We were told we could walk to the Fairfield across the street, but after a long drive, we just wanted to relax, not go to a different hotel to swim. Once we were in our room, we noted that the tub faucet runs constantly. Aesthetically, our room was ok but could use some updates. We tried to call the front desk from both phones and neither worked. We informed them and they said, "okay". I called the Country Inn & Suites corporate number to discuss the pool and was told they'd give my information to the general manager and to keep my phone "open". I didn't hear from them Monday night. Tuesday we did the tourist thing and upon return, the pool was still out of order. I also hadn't received a call yet, so I called corporate again. And again I was told to keep my phone "open" because the GM would call me. Wednesday we again went out and about. When we returned, we noticed that the sign on the front desk and the one taped to the pool door were gone. I asked the front desk person about the 2 signs being down but he stated the pool was still closed and would possibly be open Thursday (today). Today, after the zoo, I stopped to ask if the pool was open and I was informed that it was. Our last night here and the pool is FINALLY OPEN! I have yet to hear from the GM. If you need to do laundry, the hotel does not have any detergent you can buy (they told my son they needed to look for it, then after a few minutes, came back and told him they didn't have any), so bring some of be prepared to go out and buy some. Also make sure you have quarters. If the machines are working, they don't have quarters for you to buy. Breakfast is pretty standard continental breakfast - powdered scrambled eggs, toast/bagels/English muffins, bacon or sausage, waffles, cereal, etc. The dining area was clean and staff kept the food pretty well stocked. The location is okay - mall, restaurants, stores near by. The entire pool situation seems to have overshadowed most of the "good" about this hotel for my family. When we come back to Houston, we will likely look for another hotel, and possibly...
