UPDATE : Thursday 14 Nov 2024. Now that I have dietary restrictions placed for the rest of my life …. I just wanted to describe the cheesecake: If I were to DIE toDAY, and go to HEAVEN, I’d wake up in the CENTER of a PAPPAS SEAFOOD RESTAURANT CHEESECAKE, and I’d have to eat my way OUT of it, to see anything ELSE of Heaven. THAT’S my idea of paradise. I’ve eaten cheesecake all over the states and in several other countries, and NOTHING is like THIS place!!!!!! This place I discovered almost a year ago. I’m telling you what, there is absolutely a difference from seafood place to seafood place. The staff are always well groomed neat and clean, which is a huge plus for me. The restaurant is very very clean and the food is ridiculously delicious, always cooked perfectly. I especially like the bartending staff because they have a good command over the bar, in other words: you’ll never find anybody inebriated or acting inappropriately at that bar, which is always nice. This is not often the case with another particular seafood restaurant that I used to frequent. So that brings me to TRULY appreciate Pappas. The managers I always see walking around the place checking on the customers, making sure that they’re happy with their orders and so forth. This makes me feel like they’re genuinely concerned about their customers satisfaction. Other places the manager will only come out if there’s an issue. This is the difference between a finer restaurant and your general run-of-the-mill place. I see the staff helping each other out to make sure that ALL customers are happy. The atmosphere is just one of professionalism and it’s just a lovely dining experience. I go there several times a week or more. It’s become my go to place when I just need some space and a really good meal with...
Read moreDecided to dine in as an impromptu birthday celebration, rather than the original plan of driving to Kemah. We got too late a start so this was an excellent plan B. March 14th, we were a family of 6, and sat in the far booth in front of the bar. Our waiter, whose name I regret not catching, was superb! He went way beyond the call of duty when I thought I'd left my phone and went back after closing searching for it. He displayed so much concern and heartfelt compassion, immediately putting me at ease, walking me thru my memory, and getting other staff members on the case. At one point I looked up and there were at least 5 guys with flashlights out searching around the table where I might've dropped it.
Of course the phone had slipped out of my pocket when I sat in the car to leave, and was nudged under the seat all along, silly me! But I was floored by the patience, kindness and dedication to customer service shown to me by that waiter especially, and staff. Thanks so much guys!
Beyond that, the food was delicious as always, high quality and fresh. Was delighted to see my favorite Deluxe Seafood Platter still includes soft-shell crab, and large tender scallops(so yummy). And later discovered pretty sizable chucks of fresh lump crabmeat in the stuffed-crab stuffing that I enjoyed as leftovers the next day. This visit made me hate the Seafood House arm of the business hadn't yet expanded to DFW where I've recently relocated...darn! But otherwise, the atmosphere is lively, and the meal service was terrific: responsive, quick and orderly. We've been enjoying the brand for decades it seems now, and it's great to see the standards all around are still...
Read moreThe food was delicious and the table service by Martin was exceptional.
The hostess, however needs to learn some etiquette and obviously hasn’t been sufficiently trained.
My mother and father and I stopped in for an early dinner. My mother uses a walker. The hostess walked us directly to the closest “coveted” window seat table, and as the restaurant was not busy, we parked the walker behind us between ours and the next table. The hostess clumsily bumped the walker with a chair, repeatedly, never once offering to park the walker elsewhere (not that it was in the way there).
Then not once, not twice, but THREE TIMES! did the same hostess bring other incoming guests to that table directly behind us - where the walker was between our tables. It was rude and inconsiderate and not at all the treatment any senior with a walker should be subjected to. The restaurant was virtually empty. Of the 8, 10, twelve other tables against the “coveted window side”, there was only one other window table occupied. It was simply the closest table to the front door and this lazy hostess apparently didn’t have enough “snap” to direct new guests to another table.
I mentioned this to our waiter, asking for a manager on the way out, and the manager he introduced to me (who we’ve seen there many times before and thought was the manager) was not receptive at all to the constructive criticism. She chose, instead, to defend the hostess.
Service isn’t what...
