I stayed here 3/2/25. I'm not a review posting person, but I'm compelled to tell my experience. My experience was Absolutely Horrible. I'm left with long term emotional & mental scars, trauma, panic attacks, anxiety, headaches & chest pains. My nerves are constantly on guard and on the edge since staying here. Now I have none stop knots in my chest and stomach. I wish I never stayed here for Bnp event.
I checked in alone around 7pm, my room key didn't work, went down stairs to reset my card keys. Around 945pm there was 2 attempted break in, back to back. I tried to call the front desk, room phone was completely dead. It freaked me out. Single female staying alone, 10pm at night, dead room phone, someone trying to get into my room was absolutely horrifying experience, and it's something I wish no other female would ever experience again in the future. It was very traumatizing experience for me. Thank god I had latch lock locked, and latch lock stopped someone from entering further into my room. 1st attempt, I heard jiggling of set of keys first, my door opened, I hear man say "hmmmm....." door closed and he leaves. I was sitting there just frozen. 5 min later, 2nd attempt when door opened, I saw hand with glove & screwdriver in hand trying to unlock my latch lock. I freaked out. My instinct was to run to the door, push it, try to relock it, close it, do whatever I could. I peaked through the side opening, there was man with mask, glove, screwdriver in hand outside my room trying to unlock the latch lock to get into my room......I called 911 from my cell phone, had police come out to take report. I did not feel safe at all. When I called the front desk with my cell phone 1st time, male staff told me there was computer error, room showed vacant, their staff was checking it out (???). After 2nd attempt I called the front desk 4x, no one answered. I called 911 from my cell phone, and sherriff came out 20-30min later, & confirmed- it was computer glitch, doubles booked, it was error on their part. Wtf...no knock, no hello, no I'm sorry, no showing ID or saying he is hotel staff!!! Absolute nightmare experience. After this traumatizing drama, I went down stairs bc I needed a drink. Bar was already closed, went up to front desk..... 2 guys yelled & ganged up at me, no apologies, try to spin it around, telling me- " It's really no big deal, you are making it bigger deal than it is, it's really no big deal......if you kept carrying it on we are going to call the police and throw you out....." it was absolute horrible scene from movie......very rude staffs, no apologies, never said I'm sorry for traumatizing you or sorry for the inconvenience....nothing, absolutely nothing. Its very shocking for hospitality service business for way they handled the serious security situation. I'm just speechless. I couldn't wait for the sunrise. I had massive chest pain all night. I checked out next morning, cut my trip short, and came home. Since I got home I started to have none stop severe panic attacks effecting every part of my life. It's been 4 wks, made some progress but I'm not healed completely yet. I'm seeing psychologist, going to acupuncture, and on low dose of anxiety holistic meds for now still trying to recover it all from this nightmare experience. I reached out to handful of attorneys, they all say I have a legit case but most say emotional & mental traumas are hard to prove without any physical damages. My experience, this hotel has serious hotel security protocols, horrible communication procedures, handling of my situation was very poor and completely mishandled. Hotel male staffs need serious better training for the future events like this. I understand hotel might of had computer glitch but male staffs need to have better compassion, sympathy, empathy, and understanding of the situation from female's prospective, and this should never happen AGAIN!! I would rate this hotel negative-100 if I could. It was the worst hotel...
Read moreThe hotel was located on the corner of the stteet. Lovely, landscaped with lights when we arrived in the dark evening. Helped locate it.
A couple of colorfully adorned christmas trees sat strategically in corners of the lobby.
The reception area is attractive yet it was not well lit. Not sure why. Never been in a hotel that's quite "dark". The adjacent open sitting area was nearly dark too.
Perhaps due to the fact it was "closed" for the night? A few yards away was a dimmed dark area with dining tables.
It was the breakfast dining section. One could walk amongst the dining tables... towards the back, were lovely holiday decorations and a revolving Christmas tree. About six feet tall, it was such delight to watch it revolve!
Near the Christmas tree was an entry-exit door to the swimming pool. The evening decorative lights lit the large pool area into a gorgeous outdoor attraction.
Actually we first entered from the back side of the building, not the front reception area.
The parking spaces were all filled closer to the front of the hotel.
Once inside, surprisingly all along all the hallways were beautiful photos of Lucy Ball and Desi Arnaz! It was such a thrill and of course it was a "must" to take photographs of them and with them!
I loved watching, I Love Lucy, and still enjoy them. It was serendipity my husband booked the hotel, since we were not aware Lucy and Desi founded it!
The room itself was quaint. I read few reviews it was dated. Not for us, I liked the windows with shutters. Drawback was the slates did not sit in place, after several attempts. They kept completely shutting close.
The queen beds were odd. Even with bed toppers, laying in one, we felt as if we dipped into a slope. We tried the second bed, it was similar. Maybe mattress was too soft.. Not a favorite.
Bathroom was roomy, designed for older or safety. There were bars, behind the the toilet tank and other side, next to toilet paper roll dispenser. There was a huge wrap-around in the tub-shower. I was impressed at their consciousness of having safety bars! It may not appeal to the younger generation. I recall at a much younger age, I felt they mistakenly gave us a handicapped room with the many special safety features in the bathroom. Now I actually feel they are smarter to install them to minimize risks of falling.
Few structural areas they need to attend is the nice wall paper. Due to the moisture in bathrooms, the wallpaper was peeling off the walls, near the tub area, and various spots at the seams of wall paper. Another is the unattractive and obviously banged up door frame. Wood is exposed through the paint in four or five spots. Oh nearly forgot to mention, husband unplugged refrigerator because of loud emitting sounds.
I understand older structures may not have been built to prevent floors above to be quiet. We heard sounds from above us, we were on the first floor. One can hear people in the hall way talking, and next day plenty of doors banging close in the morning.
Price was extremely attractive at $70. Yet the cost of "resort" fee at $50 and parking fee of $20 doubled the original base price of the hotel. We never used any resort features, except for admiring the pool. We think it is better to price everything together rather than piece meal them. It makes customers like me question reason for a "resort" fee when none was ever used or was it for walking around inside our first floor hallways to enjoy looking at the photos of Lucy and Arnaz?
Price included a continental breakfast. Good service, and one of the nicest dinning area for breakfast. Good. Hardboiled eggs, fresh fruit, milk, fruit juices, dry cereal, oatmeal (two toppings, brown sugar and raisins), and bread items. One surprise was rye bread! Toasted, I enjoyed it with cream cheese. Also a warming unit was available to toast breads.
It was one night. First time to stay in Indian Wells.
Overall, we would likely book again if ever in...
Read moreWell, this hotel certainly has a lot of history and it was so fun to see the photos of Lucy & Desi hanging all around. The lounge entertainment was superb and a very nice venue, that takes up part of the lobby each night between 6-9pm (perfect hours!). The pool area was attractive.|Now, for the downside, and there is plenty. We requested a handicapped room and we’re given two bad options, one has a front door in the lobby! Well, that was a no, with stinky carpet too. So, we took the first option with our patio door going out to the parking lot (and no patio!). Such beautiful views to be had, but we faced a parking lot and street. The refrigerator was tucked in the closet, but it was inaccessible being so close to the bed. So, we asked they move it to the closer side of the closet, so we could access it and their maintenance obliged. Thank you! There was no TV service. We were told it would be out for two nights and a repairman had been called. We then found out from maintenance the hotel is changing television service companies and it likely would be weeks before the TV would work! Since we were only paying $99/night, we realized we didn’t really need the TV, so we stayed. The beds (mattresses) are quite old and broken down. When in bed, it was difficult to get to the middle of the bed because it was sloping downward toward the floor and if not in the middle of the bed, a person would be on a good 30° slope rolling toward the floor. In the morning, both our backs were aching from the lack of support, as they were extremely soft, lumpy and long past time to use. So, this let us know the have past due maintenance issues. The decor looks to be from the 80’s, so this makes sense they have not kept the place up. There was a nice vinyl type flooring, which looked fairly new, but then we noticed the desk, two chairs and dresser had all been cut to be lower and then we realized, there had been a flood in the room and instead of replacing the furniture, they cut a few inches off the chair legs (making it quite difficult to get out of them, and the dresser had the damaged portion at the bottom cut off, so it was lower; the desk too. Nice solution! (Not!!!). |The pool area is lovely, with gorgeous views of the mountains and golf course, but then we’d see deferred maintenance, like the trim around the planters is all deteriorated and falling apart. I am handicapped and noticed the ramps and entrance to the room has a high lip, which is completely against code and made it very difficult to pass over.||All in all, we appreciated the $99/night rate during high season, but this hotel is long overdue for a refresh. To avoid replacing the mattresses as often as needed, is a crime for a hotel. This is the most basic desire of a hotel guest and they failed. No TV service? Ok, but then to have horrible Wifi too is bad!||Again, the lounge is incredible with wonderful talent both nights we went. This is about the only thing good I can say about this hotel. Perhaps rooms with views are better cared for, but to have only two lousy options for a handicapped room, is bad considering their clientele. It was no problem to avoid the expensive breakfast, since there were ample wonderful restaurants nearby (CJ’s, we’ll be back!)||The hotel owners should be ashamed at the condition of this property. It is a historic jewel and if they are trying to sell, they are not doing themselves any favors by running it to the ground first. Marriott or Hilton, it needs your touch! Keep the lounge and wonderful shows, refresh the rooms and pool area and make this historic hotel a jewel in the...
