An awesome time was spent playing at the Indian Wells Golf Resort after which we decided to eat at the Vue Grille & Bar. The food was fair at best, but not once have I ever experienced the kind of customer service that I experienced today.
There was a special wine menu that listed a '2011' bottle of Rodney Strong; after a pleasant day on the course, we thought why not. Upon ordering said bottle, I thought 'jeez this is a fine bottle of wine.' Curious as to what we were drinking, I checked to see the bottle's label to find out that it was a '2015' Rodney Strong. We confronted the waitress who was serving us, upon which she thought it best to bring the manager over.
Now, I am more than bewildered as to how Shaun, the supposed manager of the restaurant, got his job nor why the owner of the restaurant would allow him to manage but here the story goes. He comes out attentive and ready to hear what we had to say. We pleaded our case that it was unfair that a '2015' bottle was brought out in placement of a '2011' bottle with NO heads up whatsoever.
Here's the thing... when you order a bottle of wine, do you usually dissect the wine label to make sure it's made in the year as stated in the menu? I know proper etiquette is for the wine server to present the wine, but how often do you expect something to be different from what you ordered. EVERY single restaurant I've been to serves the bottle of wine as stated in their menu, despite how outdated the menu is. If not, it is clearly communicated that such bottle of wine is no longer available.
Don't get me wrong the wine was fantastic, but we bought into the fact that it was a '2011' and the best selection on the menu. We've clearly been cheated, yet here comes Shaun with a defensive position stating, "Oh, we clearly stated on the bottom of the menu that the wine menu is subjected to change... oh, you guys drank the entire bottle of wine, now you guys decide to bring this up to us." The entire time we were just trying to address the issue in hopes that they would clarify things with anyone else who were to order the same bottle of wine. However, he just continues to defend his case completely disrespectful of our reasoning to order this bottle of wine to begin with.
Honestly, I don't want to waste my time any longer writing this stupid review. However, Shaun, the current manager at this restaurant, needs to get his act straight or someone of higher power needs to monitor...
Read moreThe food was mediocre and maybe 2-3 stars. It felt like a very tired menu and presentation. There were 5 adults and we tried several different dishes and were unimpressed. $50 steak was a low quality, choice level cut. That said the service was absolutely horrific. The waitress only took our order after being flagged down after being seated for 15 minutes, then we waited for an hour after we ordered to receive our food. During that hour the waitress was literally nowhere to be found and when we flagged her down yet again she responded with âitâs on its wayâ . We considered leaving but we had two young kids who were beyond miserable waiting an hour for chicken nuggets and fries. Now to top off everything, they made no apologies, didnât offer any consideration like a dessert which I guess is fine. But they then they decided to add a mandatory 20% gratuity despite the horrible service which they didnât even disclose when they brought the check (which took 20 minutes to get btw). I waited tables for 10 years so Iâm very sensitive to the difficulties of restaurants and never leave bad reviews but this place deserves it. Hopefully...
Read moreAfter a round of golf with the boys it was nice to kick up our heels and enjoy some cool beers and excellent food. Conveniently located at the club house. It was nice to have a locker room to go to, to be able to clean up before you get some grub. It is mid march and 80 degrees felt like 100. I highly recommend the chicken sandwich with jalapeno slaw. It is just spicey enough. If you don't normally get spicey food you will still enjoy it. We still had some beers left over from golf and they had no problem getting us cold glasses. I recommend getting a table outside to enjoy the lovely view. I believe everybody got the chicken sandwich and everybody put it down quickly. We got the calamari as an appetizer. Although the serving size was not enought for 6 the quality was par for the course. It would be enough for 2 but we then crushed our sandwiches with sweet potato fries. The golf course is solid as well as the food...
