The hotel states that the resort fee includes the following….||“WHAT DOES THE $40+ RESORT FEE INCLUDE?”||• Onsite Wellness and Yoga Classes||• Daily 2-hour bike rental for up to 2 guests||• 10% discount on cabana rental||• 10% discount on Spa Rosa Retail purchase with 50+ minute spa treatment||• Discount at Indian Wells Golf Resort||• Golf cart transportation to Indian Wells Golf Resort||• Priority reservations at Grapefruit Basil||• Resort fee items listed as part of the fee but available at hotels without resorts fees|| • High-speed Wi-Fi property wide|| • In-room premium coffee and tea maker|| • 24-hour Fitness Center|| • Access to pools, bocce ball, and firepits (pools only but bocce ball & firepits are available to non-guests).|| • EV charging station access ||1) Resort Policy should be updated to require and enforce resort attire (as follows). If you are going to try to sell yourself as a resort, act like one. Too many people walking around in speedos and bikinis in the restaurant, bar, grotto and lobby.||a. Resort Casual Clothing Required.||i. Bathrobes are for rooms||ii. Bathing suits outside the pool area should require a coverup.||iii. Shoes should be required outside the pool area.||iv. Clothing must cover all underwear, cleavage (butt cracks, breasts, other). See pic. of underwear display in picture attached.||2) Communication between management and staff is lacking.||a. Tacos and music were to start at 10pm – didn’t start until 11:15pm and no music). I must mention the staff & chef made it up to us. Staff is impeccable!||b. Lawn mowing at 7:15am (at a “resort”). When called the front desk she said they just hire the service and have no control over the times they start. I stated they were the customer and should have total control at a resort. Her response was, “well it is Monday”.||3) Grapefruit Basil Restaurant:||a. Excellent food, run by Chef Matthew (we went across to the Hyatt’s Kestrel run by Chef Richard Blais. Unfortunately, at Kestrel’s we have had better food at bars & sports clubs. Chef Matthew’s food at Grapefruit Basil at the Miramonte was definitely chef material (this is coming from someone with chefs and cooks in their family).||Room - Needs an update.||1) PRO: 2-bathroom sinks||2) PRO: housekeeping was great||3) CON: Light switch at door didn’t control anything. Difficult to find a light at night to enter the room.||4) CON: sink outside shower didn’t have flow control/filter, splattered everywhere and LEDs were flickering.||5) CON: sink inside shower area had an aftermarket add on for a filter but there was NO hot water at that sink.||6) CON: toilet was installed about 1 foot from the back wall (weird).||7) CON: difficult to shut off the shower||8) CON: couch was on the wall that the TV was on, not facing the TV.||Patio – not very inviting.||1) No outdoor light so the patio could only be used in the daytime.||2) Not private. It was on the path from the lobby/grotto to other rooms.||3) 1 outdoor chair & table (and the chair was hard metal – no cushions).||4) Mosquito’s due to the wet mud/sprinkler in the plants around the patio.||5) Mosquito’s & gnats in the room due to the screen disconnected from the door (see picture).||Other:||1) Access to pools, bocce ball, and firepits is sold as part of the resort “fee” but bocce ball and firepits are open to ANYONE.||2) Pool pictures from management look like the pool is 25-50 meters long but it’s only about 15 meters and full of kids blow up toys.||3) Hotel requires $17/night to stay overnight but is free all day (just not “overnight”). I suggest you park in the empty lot adjunct to the hotel. Parking overnight does not appear to be checked as there were more vehicles in the lot overnight (for a week) without a parking permit than those with a parking permit.||Recommendations:||Stay somewhere else (newer) and come to this hotel for its restaurant, happy hour and outside Grotto/firepits. They spin it as part of the resort fee, but anyone...
Read moreThis was a one night get away for the 4th of July. We have stayed here before it was a Tommy Bahama resort, and this time we were very disappointed and wont return. | Our check in went fine, our room was ready and in the location we requested. But then we were told that happy hour was not honored at the pool bar. We would need to leave the pool area and order happy hour drinks at the lobby bar in a to-go cup. Why? This is very odd and inconvenient. Why would this hotel encourage wet dripping guests to enter the lobby to order to-go happy hour drinks? Very weird. | We have fond memories of using the large cabana beds at the main pool, however, we ended up at the hideaway pool because the music was too loud at the main pool. But then the hideaway pool did not have any pool towels. We reported this to the front desk on the first day, and someone eventually brought more pool towels. but then on the second day the pool towels were gone again. This time the front desk said they were all being washed and to go to the main pool to get towels. When one of us went to the main pool to get a towel for each of us, we were scolded and told only one towel per person (the request was for a party of two!). The hotel needs to invest in more towels! They clearly do not have enough towels for their guests or to keep the pool areas stocked with towels. During the two hours we spent at the hideaway pool on the second day, no towels were ever brought to the pool. | And during happy hour, we did go to the lobby, intending to order a pina colada. However, oddly, the bars at this hotel do not offer frozen drinks! Except one, a frozen mai tai (which is also very odd). Why wouldn't a hotel bar offer common frozen drinks like a Pina coloda, especially in the summer when guests are on vacation? Enjoying a |Pina colada poolside seems like a normal expectation! | And, who designed this terrible non-functional bathroom? There is only ONE door hook and ZERO towel bars in the hotel room bathroom and vanity area. Where are you supposed to hang wet bath towels, washcloths, hand towels, or wet swimwear? Oh I forgot. They did not provide hand towels. Only two bath towels, two washcloths, and one door hook. If two people are in the room, where is the second guest supposed to hang their towel or wet swimwear if the first person uses the door hook? This is unacceptable! Guests need to have a place to hang bath towels, wet swimwear, and face washcloths. Who wants to use a washcloth again after it has been left on a countertop?| I have been to this resort several times before it became part of Tommy Bahamas. It used to have beautifully manicured walkways full of tiled fountains, an abundance of flowers, inviting hammocks, peaceful nooks to sit and relax and enjoy the gardens. But the gorgeous hotel grounds have been gutted. The blue tiled fountains, beautiful tiled walkways, relaxing garden hammocks, and meticulously manicured gardens are all gone. What a shame. We...
Read moreI purchased a spa/day pass to the resort. I went weekday, so there were only 8-10 people there max, the entire time--but even then at times, that was much if you are going for privacy/quiet, etc. You'll be sharing small spaces with others, which will make it smaller). The spa staff was fabulous. The spa is small; 2 small rooms of lockers in the womens, 2 showers, a sauna they spray eucalyptus essential oil in. There is a small (maybe 5 ft long) pool for spa only, and then essentially a hot tub, where they put up some "walls"/dividers, to create 5 or 6 little nooks. There is an upstairs balcony that has 2 recliner chairs that have heat and vibration (no massage) features. That was still nice, but I read a review previously that said it was massage. I used the pool and hot tub for the resort too. Pool is nice--not deep though, I'm 5'7" and could stand any point in the pool and my head was above water. Pool was great temp, but when the wind picked up later (even though it's "protected"), it became cold. The pool staff were poor this day--2 women. One woman (who, I believe--hard to say though since I didn't see her do much, so not for sure--was a waitress) spent the entire hour talking with a patron at the end of the pool. I went to the bar to order. The "bartender" (the 2 women might have both been waitresses/bartenders) was not super familiar with the intricacies of the menu--i.e, what's the meat? does it have? etc. For what was served, the food is super overpriced (for ex: $20 for hamburger)--even for a resort, given the resorts, size, amenities, and caliber. The fried chicken sandwich was recommended to me, so I thought I'd try it. Of course it's fried, so it's a given it would be somewhat greasy. It was tremendously greasy...to the point of picking it up (not squeezing/pressing it or taking a bite) and the grease/butter just ran down my hand and arms. Servers never came by to ask how it was, if I needed anything. Was not given plasticware or a napkin. After 20 min (I ate the fries-those were good), went to bar to get those, also asked for more sauce and she said, it's really good huh? I expressed, I found it more greasy than expected or what would be necessary, and she said oh, I'm sorry. I said I was peeling off the breading, and removed the bun, and wanted to sauce to give it some flavor back (removed from the breading). She said ok. LOL. I used to serve as well. That is the point, where you ask--whether I accept or not--is there something else we can get you? Nada. Later the other waitress walked by and asked if I needed more napkins (mine blew away as she was walking), then asked how I liked it. I shared the same, like meh. It's not my favorite, but super greasy and I wouldn't have ordered it. She said, oooh. Hmm....Bummer. LOL again. So, that's the reason for 4 stars--spa great, but small--on a busy day/full day, I would not like it. And I would not eat the food from...
