I can't say enough how much I thoroughly enjoyed staying here. I consider myself somewhat high maintenance because I like high quality and royal treatment. When I come to a hotel, I inspect before I bring anything in. I re-clean everything in the room and am looking for issues. Let me tell you how I connected with this hotel:
Room - exactly as pictured! Clean linens, comfy mattress. Could use an upgrade due to blemishes but because solid oak finishes, furniture is still sturdy. There are indications of wear and tear. Broken iron. All other in-room amenities like microwave, fridge, tv, air - worked fine. The entire stay, saw 1 bug in the room, the day construction above began (day I left).
Hotel - Cameras all around. Large lot with ample parking always. Landscaping and groundskeeping not maintained. 🏗️ Demo/construction actively taking place (mostly inside). Front desk, business center, dining area and lobby well maintained and intact. Exterior doors not sealed/secure. Saw 1 bug in the hall the entire stay. (Approx 30 days)
Service - Hotel manager is legitimately good businessman. He is astute and fair. He is responsive and accountable. If you have any issues during your stay, he will resolve it timely and effectively. Other staff is receiving development and demonstrated growth throughout my stay. Cleaning staff seen sweeping and mopping tile hall and stair floors daily.
Price - phenomenal pricing for accommodation with reasonable deposits and timely return of deposit following departure from stay.
This hotel is presently undergoing a multi-million dollar renovation and has also changed brand ownership. Several other area hotels within a 2 block radius charge 3 or more times the rates of this hotel. Having stayed in some of those other hotels, most have undergone a remodel which includes the upgrades, security and seclusion this hotel is transforming to be. Once renovations complete, they will be strongly competitive. That said, being in an underprivileged neighborhood doesn't have an impact on the quality of the stay.
I had no issues with any other guests during my stay. Yes, some looked different than me but they were all courteous, respectful and minded their business. I did the same.
DeAnna is one of the cleaning staff. She was extremely kind and vigilant about her job, happy to offer service. There was another of the front desk staff whose name I did not get but he appeared to be Indian with a stocky build, polished and he was very attentive and professional.
I can't wait to return to this hotel when the remodel is complete to review again. They are managing all within their power extremely well so once known issues resolve, they are likely to supersede the other hotels in demand. I'm the interim, they're still a decent hotel (from someone who travels for a living).
The space, when remodeled will likely accommodate conferences, restaurant, bar, pool, jacuzzi, fitness and more. Convenient location with lots of food options, convenience stores and more within walking distance.
This review aims to give feedback from an honest person to anyone who may need to save funds and is hesitant because of the other reviews. Trust your gut. Book the stay. You'll be relieved you did.
The videos attached are my only footage saved in the room and are of me reading excerpts from the popular study 'A Course In Miracles' for Tarot Palace, my YouTube and Patreon Channels. They are limited view and the headboard in this room was a different model but I liked it better. As you can see from my expressions, I felt safe and...
Read moreWow. This was certainly a place to make lasting memories. The photos online seemed nice, the few reviews I perused seemed fine, so I booked a room to stay at the Indy Hotel. What could go wrong? My mother and I pulled up, hoping to find the hotel pictured in the photos. The first sign something might be wrong was that the hotel is labelled with two different names, as shown, neither of which is "Indy Hotel." One of these signs is broken, as shown, but then we realized it was actually pretty nice when compared to sign number three, which is a graffiti sign welcoming you into the parking lot. We took quite some time confirming that this was actually the hotel we had booked online, as it looked so different that what was pictured, and because it looked like it might actually be a fully abandoned building. The building, besides appearing abandoned as shown in the photos, was accompanied by a lot that had a few pedestrians who appeared to be doing drugs, and two vans that we pulled up beside. While we were trying to figure out what was going on with the hotels, the man in the van beside us kept looking at us in a way that seemed to indicate he might want us to leave. This suspicion only became stronger when he eventually got out of his car and, tragically, was not wearing pants. He proceeded to get into the van with the lady beside him. What occured from that point on I am not sure, as I had gotten sunscreen in my eyes that morning and so my eyes already hurt and I did not need them to hurt any further.
There was a pile of rocks and garbage (perhaps an attempt at a rock garden by the new owners?) in the parking lot, and just overall a very palpable sense of despair. We presumed there must be a mistake and the hotel was no longer in business, but when our Expedia agent called the front desk-and we explained that we did not feel safe getting out of the car given the pantless guy and the whole abandoned warehouse vibe of the thing-they apparently tried to deny our refund despite my having booked with a cancellation penalty free policy in the first place.
I would say that if you have any reason in your life to keep on living, do not want to get mugged, or prefer if people wear pants in public, you should probably book another hotel. If you are filming an apocalypse movie and need a cheap backdrop or have always dreamed of dying in a semi to fully abandoned grey building in middle America-or in the parking lot, this would be a good...
Read moreWhen we arrived, we were informed that through we had a confirmation number there were no rooms available in the hotel. We proceeded to ask for the manager and stood at the front desk for over an hour, as more and more guests lined up behind us who also had confirmation numbers yet were also informed there were no rooms available. During this time, the workers proceeded to leave the front desk empty as we could see them talking in a back hallway. When they had returned, we were informed they had a room for my spouse and I. We are uncertain if there may have been additional rooms for the people behind us, however: (1) if the hotel gives confirmation, they must be prepared to HONOR THE CONFIRMATION, (2) if the hotel still has rooms available, they need to clearly communicate the situation rather than causing unnecessary distress on groups of people who traveled with the assurance of a room to stay in, and (3) no matter the situation, the staff should not treat guests with disrespect. The amount of attitude and disrespect felt due to the workers as well as the manager (who hid away the whole time, leaving his workers to receive the backlash) is astounding. Though this hotel is a place to stay, we wouldn't...
