If I could leave a negative star review I would. The only good thing about staying on this property was the staff and the breakfast. They are very friendly and accommodating. However, I feel there needs to be retraining for cleaning of rooms. And our room for sure needs a contractor visit.
Some things you should NEVER see when staying in any hotel. Here is a list of what was encountered:
1.) uneven floor. Our floor was literally sunken in. It bowed downward from the entrance to the bathroom in the back of the room. It wasn’t just a little. I nearly fell twice. And if you set anything round upon the floor it would roll towards the center. I told the office and the maintenance guy assured me it would not cave in. So I dealt with it. 2.) evidence of past leaks. Our ceiling had clear evidence of repair work. This was a concern because we booked this room to evacuate from hurricane Milton - which would be passing over as a storm. Maintenance assured no leaks and ceiling was repaired (so far so good - we saw no leaks. We still have one more day to go here). 3.) 1/2 inch gap in the front door between door (handle side) and the wall. This was super annoying as we could hear the outside hallway (and it really was an OUTSIDE hallway). It also let in all the cigarette smoke and pot smoke from our neighbors who were smoking in front of their doors. I have sensitivities to smoke so I had to Benedryl up every night. 4.) mold and mildew smells. Again- allergies. But no other option due to hurricane otherwise we would have left. 5.) VERY dirty room. I personally had to sweep and scrub our floors. We have spiders which became pets for my 6 year old but not acceptable for a hotel room. 6.) little holes and small cracks in ceiling. Not sure what these are. 7.) BLOOD spots on the duvet. Staff changed it out immediately. Again- super gross. Should not have even happened. 8.) make up stain on fresh towel. Could have been a rust stain. Not sure. Got new towel from office. 9.) seal/caulk around the base of the bathtub and toilet is coming up. I know this because I was down there scrubbing the floors. The caulk would separate when pressing down on the floor. (Again - see floor issue above). 10.) dirt and grime along baseboards. 11.) screaming from neighbors through the walls. Very violent and my parents thought they would have to call the police. 12.) our window shade wouldn’t open because someone Jerry rigged the pull chain together. 13.) $250 pet deposit. They allowed storm evacuees to have their pets but charged an insane deposit amount. We didn’t know about this until we got here and there wasn’t any other choice. Most hotels have fees of $50 for animals for the duration of their visit.
So now that I have written the negatives I do want to call attention to some good things about the property- 1.) they have a REALLY good breakfast 2.) the staff is very sweet and management team actually listens. Despite the above comments I believe the current team is trying to turn this place around. I’m not sure what happened before to run this place down so bad. All I know is what I have experienced.
This hotel was our only option for evacuation so I truly am thankful we had a place to go. Now at the tail end of this trip and the storm Im wondering if risking staying at home would have been better than dealing with this hotel room. We arrived exhausted after over 8 hours in the car and having put storm shutters up and packing only to arrive here to this awful room and having to scrub it myself because I didn’t trust it to be cleaned correctly. Also - other neighbors were doing the same thing cleaning their rooms. So it wasn’t just us. It wasn’t just missed.
This property has potential to be a very good hotel if it’s cleaned up and maintained properly. Currently it is sketchy and I do not feel safe here despite the cameras across the property.
After my experience here, I am not sure I trust the Wyndham properties. This really...
Read moreHey guys this is gonna be a long post so just bear with me. There is so much that happened during my stay here that it is hard to know where to start. I went down to Florida from 3/6 - 3/20 and stayed at this hotel. I had booked a king size room through booking.com and ended up getting a pretty good rate. Roughly $66/night for a total of $979.01 for the entire stay after taxes and discounts. Once we got in the room we noticed a ton of issues. First and foremost the floors were uneven, this almost caused both of us to fall multiple times. The shower had small micro ants running up and down the outside and the shower itself rarely had hot (or even warm) water for longer than 5 minutes (that might not be the hotel’s fault there are a decent chunk of people who are staying there) on top of that the refrigerator wasn’t working and was leaking frequently. There was also an unruly guest who stayed next door that we had reported multiple times for being loud but nothing ever changed. The final nail in the coffin would be about 3 days into our stay. On Sunday morning (3/9) my husband and I would wake up in a pool of water from where the ceiling was cracked. It had rained from the previous night into that morning and had ended up drenching us. The situation only gets worse from here. We had decided to go to the front desk and request to get a different room, which the lady we talked to on Sunday morning did. She had switched us from a king room to a double queen and when we had requested a refund for the price difference between the king and double queen rooms she said that only the GM could do that. So we unfortunately had to settle for the double queen which we didn’t even really use one of the beds since my husband and I share a bed. In the new room we were met with similar issues. The floors were still uneven and the refrigerator was spotty at best. We notified the front desk person of these issues as well as asking her to make a note for the GM for her to give me a call when she has a chance to. We waited about 3 days before going back up to the desk to find the GM. After a brief talk with the GM it turns out that the lady who we had talked to on Sunday never wrote a note to the GM and also never switched our room from the previous one to our new one. The only thing the front desk lady had done was blocked off our new room as unavailable. The GM also informed us that since we had booked through a third party we would have to contact the third party to get any sort of refund. So after contacting booking.com they were able to negotiate with the GM and give me a $176 refund for the price difference of the two rooms as well as the inconvenience of everything (I initially requested $200 but I’ll take what I can get). We had thought that would settle everything but it turns out that the GM never changed our room in the system, meaning we never got room service. We had told the front desk multiple times that we needed room service and they just told us to wait and they’ll handle it, they even recommended just reusing the towels over and over again for days after showers. Thankfully there was one gentleman who over the weekend helped us to get new towels and made notes to room service as well the GM (though those notes did basically nothing). On another note they offered free breakfast, they claim that the breakfast from 7-10 however they lock the doors around 9 so no one can get in and they make the last round of food around 8:30 so if you get there after 9 then good luck getting anything. The floors and stairs outside of the rooms are cracked and the maintenance teams seems to be...
Read moreI am unsure of how this hotel has secured a greater than 3-star rating. I am a frequent traveler and this is probably the worst hotel I have stayed at in the last 25 years.
I will say that the gentleman at the front desk was very pleasant and helpful. Speaking with him was, unfortunately, the best part of the stay.
My wife's first comment as we drove around to our room was, "this place looks like a half-way" house. There were a number of people sitting in chairs outside of their rooms smoking and drinking.
Neither one of us felt completely comfortable as we got out of our car to walk to the back of the building in the direction of our room. As we walked to our room, we passed our "neighbor", who was sitting outside of his room smoking. I asked him, "Are you the welcoming committee?" To which he replied, "No. I'm the get the hell out of here committee."
We were a bit taken aback by his comment, and decided we didn't want to stay next door to this pleasant fellow. So we went back up to the front desk, explained the situation and asked for a room in the front building which was better illuminated at night. I guess we weren't clear enough, because he still gave us a room on the back side of that building just about a half dozen doors away from Mr. Congeniality (our previous neighbor).
When we walked in, we were a bit surprised by the starkness of the room. There was only one lamp in the room and it was placed directly under the television set (lots of glare if you had the lamp and were watching TV.
The one chair was a cheap plastic one that wasn't terribly comfortable to sit in.
There were no other items of "comfort" (upholstered chair, loveseat, etc.) even though there was plenty of room for one. The hangers were few, the rack to hold a suitcase was broken. There was no place to hang anything, wet towels, shaving kit, etc. The door to the bathroom wouldn't stay open. The calking around the tub had several areas of mold.
The internet was completely unsecured and wasn't very strong. This is a big safety risk for anyone needing to use their cell phones or laptops.
Unlike most hotels that offer breakfast options, this hotel began their breakfast service at 7 AM. Most hotels begin theirs at 6 AM to account for people who are traveling. Considering how close this hotel is to the airport and I met at least one other couple that was flying out early that morning, beginning breakfast service at 6 AM would have been beneficial for many travelers.
All in all, this was the first hotel that I have stayed at in at least 25 years that I didn't necessarily feel safe at or...
