I recently had the unfortunate experience of staying at the Hampton in Jacksonville, Florida, and I feel compelled to share my disappointment with fellow travelers. As a lifelong Diamond member and seasoned traveler of over a decade, I have never encountered a hotel in such a state of disrepair and questionable cleanliness.
First and foremost, I was genuinely confused about the standards maintained at this property, especially considering its affiliation with the reputable Hilton brand. One would expect a certain level of quality and cleanliness, which sadly, was sorely lacking during my stay.
Upon entering my room, it became immediately apparent that the hotel was in a state of neglect. The room itself was far from welcoming – it was dirty and had an overall unkempt appearance. This, coupled with the evident lack of maintenance, left me questioning the commitment to quality at this establishment.
The most alarming aspect of my stay was the state of the bedding. As a frequent traveler, I have come to prioritize cleanliness, especially when it comes to the sheets and pillowcases. Unfortunately, the sheets in my room at the Hampton in Jacksonville appeared to be anything but clean. Stains on both the pillowcases and sheets were not only evident but also distressingly fresh. This not only raised concerns about hygiene but also left me questioning the overall cleanliness of the room.
Regrettably, this experience was so disheartening that I made the unprecedented decision to check out after the first evening. As someone who values the Hilton brand and has come to associate it with high standards, this stay was a stark departure from the quality I have come to expect.
I hope this feedback serves as a constructive critique for the management of the Hampton in Jacksonville. Travelers, especially loyal patrons like myself, deserve a level of quality and cleanliness commensurate with the Hilton reputation. I sincerely hope that the necessary improvements are made to restore the integrity of this property and maintain the standards expected of a Hilton-affiliated...
Read moreThis stay was mostly a disaster, but the shining star of it and the reason we didn't leave in the middle of the night was Jeffrey at the front desk. This guy went above and beyond any chance he could to fix anything he could when I told him about the issues with our room. Jeffrey is a superstar...... The hotel sucks and is disgusting, but he is awesome.
First, there were issues with the pricing. But Jeffrey took care of all of that after the first person I talked to seemed to care less.
Now, when we got to the room, it was horrible. It was filthy with at least a months worth of dust on top of the headboard so my girlfriend couldnt stop sneezing , there was some kind of pill laying in the middle of the floor, stains on my girlfriend's pillow case, a extra curtain balled up in the floor beside the air conditioner, and the worst part was my girlfriend was wearing white socks and the carpet was so dirty it stained the bottoms of them. Also, the pool was disgusting. It didn't appear to be open, and it had giant palm tree leaves in it for the entire time we were there.
So we had a show to go to and we didn't have time to find another hotel before the show. We went to the show, and when we came back, we spoke to Jeffrey at the desk, and he was genuinely apologetic and discounted the room by about 20 bucks.. it was super late, so we said screw it and decided to just stay and clean what we could to make it bearable..... until we actually tried to sleep, and the air conditioner sounded like it was coming apart every time it cycled on... i wanted to switch rooms, but my girlfriend was just over it and turned it up, so it didn't come on again. Luckily, it was a cool night, so it wasn't terrible.
This place was ridiculous. You would never guess it was associated with Hilton and their brand.
Jeffery needs a raise or to be hired by a better hotel and paid his worth. So if anyone is seeing this that has a respectable and nice hotel, go hire that man!!
I wouldn't stay here again if it was...
Read moreThis was the worst Hilton property I have stayed at all year and my travels have tallied nearly 40 nights at various properties. From the lack of customer service, to ants crawling on the dirty tables outside of the breakfast nook, to the workout room that was inaccessible due to construction tools and supplies taking up space, there isn't much positive to rave about on this brief one night stay. We elected to find a hotel after losing power in south GA from Hurricane Helene and instead of finding a pleasant destination, we were greeted by Melissa at the front desk whom I had to initiate conversation with after standing in silence for about 10 seconds after she finished with another guest. The lack of a hello or some type of welcoming remake can be looked past, but I take exception to Melissa proceeding to take a personal cell phone call while checking us in and proceeding to drop F bombs in front of us. Once we got to the room we found a broken toilet roll holder, again not a big deal, but there was what appeared to be gum or some other darkened substance that was on the carpet in a few spots. We also had issues with TV volume not working on a channel that we were wanting to watch so we proceeded to the lobby to watch the football game and play cards, only to be greeted by a dozen or so ants likely due to the crumbs and drops of drinks left for their consumption. Also while in the lobby watching TV, we witnessed an older patron and what appeared to be a young grandchild attempt to buy two frozen dinners and ice cream bars but were told that they could not pay cash or charge the food to their room, only payment by card which was required on the spot and he had no card on him. Perhaps that is policy at this property, but I have never witnessed that at any hotel from any brand aside from places like a Motel 6 and other budget motels. The close proximity to the Jacksonville river walk was the only real positive of the stay. It is highly unlikely that I would stay at this...
