This is one of the best ways to experience the great city of Jacksonville, in the great state of Florida! However, when I went here, I found this place not so tourist-friendly, since there are almost no sights to see. I did, however, see several sites: The USS Orleck, a Gearing- Class Destroyer battleship turned museum, ( ͥ° ÍÊ ÍĄÂ° )âs Grasses, named in discouragement of the Jax mayor, because of the defunct Jacksonville Landing, where I a perfect view of The Wells Fargo Tower, the Bank of America Tower (Jaxâs tallest), and I even went under a big bridge, which had street art and an outdoor fitness center. Iâve also seen The Times-Union Center for the Performing Arts, which is home to the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra (JSO). During the Riverwalk, I saw some street art as well! Unfortunately, I didnât go inside the USS Orleck Museum because it was closed at the time of my visit. There is a picture-perfect view of the Main Street Bridge! The Jax Northbank Riverwalk, in my opinion, is more of an actual resident thing, rather than a tourist thing, since youâll see a few locals here, but not a lot of tourists. When I walked with family under the Main Street Bridge, through the Riverwalk path, we saw a man and a woman sleeping under the bridge with shades on, which was a weird site to me, because I thought they were homeless. At the beginning of the Northbank Riverwalk, I saw 2 statues of a man and a woman running, and there were inscriptions at the bottom of each statue, but I canât remember a single word from it, unfortunately. My family and I couldnât do the entire North bank Riverwalk, since part of it was closed off to the public, due to roadwork. As a result, there was a detour, which took you into a couple of downtown streets, and then we had to walk 2 blocks, to get back on the Riverwalk. It was perfect on the day I went though, since my family and I had the entire Riverwalk to ourselves, with the exception of some friendly locals who smiled and greeted us as we walked by, a true symbol of Southern Hospitality!! We didnât park at the Riverwalk, since the parking lost for it looked abandoned and sketchy. Instead, we parked at the Hyatt Regency Hotel parking garages, 3 stories up, amd we had a perfect view of The Florida Theatre too! However, we had to walk 2 blocks to get to the Riverwalk itself. In conclusion, the Northbank Riverwalk was not as exciting as I thought it would be, but itâs still a great way to experience...
Read moreThe Northbank of the Riverwalk is a great place to start your trek around the St Johns river! There are lots of good views of the cityâs skyline, river, and nature.
The trail loops around by connecting to the Southbank of the Riverwalk. Due to temporary construction, there was a slight detour near Waters St, at the time of this post.
Overall, Iâm impressed how at this Riverwalk and look forward to visiting again after the full extension of the Riverwalk is complete. Thanks for a...
Read moreThe Riverwalk is typically really nice (a gorgeouswalk along the St. John River, with beautiful landscaping and interesting artwork), and I recommend going, but currently (as of March 2025), there is a lot of construction happening. You can only access a portion of it up near the bridge. It's still a beautiful area in Jacksonville, and the city put a good amount of work into. I do recommend going, but be aware that your walk may not be as long...
