Salon on the Southbank — Local services in Jacksonville

Part 2.....New Year New Me everyone says, so no better way to make that happen than getting your hair done. In part 1 of my review, I had a not so ideal experience here,BUT that all changed, when the Salon decided to reach out to me and make things right. Like I said, everyone that walked in, walked out looking like a new woman or man! When I went back, Mandi was very tentative to what my needs were and really made an effort to create a plan to bring my hair back to life, so that I could have the hair, I had set out to have. Everyone at the salon is very friendly, which makes my trip (from the beach)to the salon a pleasant one. If you want hairstylists that listen to what you want versus what they want to do for you, this is the place to go. Thumbs up!

Part 1.....If i could give this place no stars, i would. It has taken me months to face this overdue review based on my painful and dissatisfying experience. I can see why people give this place good reviews, because everyone else walked out looking great except me. I am asian with what used to be silky dark ebony brown virgin hair. I decided after 39 years that I would try something new for my 40th birthday. I sent pictures for a consult to Erin a week prior to see if it was possible to get my hair to the trending gray silver color. She said yes. After spending the whole day there, bleaching my hair 4 times in one day.....I left the salon looking like a cheap filipino hooker with blonde hair. She said she would fix it the following week, so for my 40th birthday. I looked horrible. My hair that used to give me the reputation of ideal smooth and silky was now dry and brittle like horse hair. Came back and after hours later, for fear my hair would get worse settled for somewhat blondish brown.....so after all that and about $300 later for hair color that is not what I asked for, I left with lower self esteem and very unsatisfied. Not even sure why I was expected to pay for the service. My hair used to give me a confidence that I looked great...now I am embarrassed. She definitely is a good talker, complimenting me how good I looked. Doesn't matter what she thouvht...it is not what I wanted. Now I have fried and unhealthy hair....regretted ever going...

After having multiple bad hair cuts at different salons around Jacksonville, I finally found an amazing hair stylist at San Marco Strands. Ralph, the hair stylist that I’ve been seeing there, does an absolute amazing job. He is very professional, friendly, and he really takes his time to make sure his cuts and styles are perfect. Every time he cuts my hair, it always looks like the best cut/style I’ve ever had. I will never go to another barber or hair dresser in the Jacksonville area again. On top of the great service the pricing is also unbeatable for the treatment you receive at this salon.

My wife also has her hair done by him routinely and he’s does amazing work with women’s hair as well. If you are looking for a new hair stylist don’t hesitate to go to strands!! And make sure you...

I have been coming here for several years now to see Mandi! She was able to take me from brassy hair to a cooler blonde color with a hint of blue/purple and I get compliments all the time!
