Stayed here for a work meeting being held at the hotel. The hotel overall is nice and the staff is great! Super nice and helpful. If you're into paranormal things, then this hotel could be for you.
I went to bed at 930 and woke up first around 1130 due to my bathroom light being turned on. Got up and turned it off. The bathroom lights by the way are motion activated but there's a button where you can physically turn it off. Crawled back into bed. Then I wake up around 230 because my bathroom light turned itself back on even though I turned it off. Got back up and turned it off again. As soon as I crawled back into bed, the light turned back on. Feeling frustrated, I got up turned off the light and shut the bathroom door.
I crawled back into bed and then I could hear the light clicking on in the bathroom and then my TV screen turned on, flashed white for a few seconds and then turned off. I freaked out. I got dressed, ran downstairs in my pajamas and socks to get out of the room and asked the front desk guy if I could hang out in the lobby since I was so scared. He was really nice and didn't mind me sitting there shaking. Once I got brave enough, I finally made my way back into my room but was still too scared to fall asleep.
Looking into the history of the building, this place used to be an old hospital in the early 1900s (1905) and dealt with the small pox epidemic, and I believe 2 fires. It was operational during the great depression too. The hotel was built on part of the same building blocks of the original hospital.
With the strange/scary encounter put aside, the hotel is nice and very modern. The price isn't bad. But if you get spooked easily, this might not be the...
Read moreWe just stayed one night in this hotel this past weekend and really enjoyed the experience. The staff were very friendly, the restaurant / bar served Starbucks which was a plus. Also, the restaurant did have some good menu options to share and everything we had was cooked perfectly. The room was clean and well appointed probably better than you might typically find at a Courtyard. The view and location which overlooked Hwy 50 with the Capitol dome in the background is one of the best features of this hotel, in our opinion anyway.
The only negative which most may not be concerned with was there was no where at the hotel to park with a cargo trailer or really any trailer with a box over 7' as the parking garage has a height just barely under 7'. We had to park in the next buisness over which thankfully had an empty parking lot since it was the weekend. That probably would not of been an option during a weekday. There was some possible street parking away from the hotel but the incline was rather steep. I'm not too sure where a motor coach would park if they were to stay at this hotel. I did ask the front desk and they recommended the street but it's not a very good location. My recommendation would be to come up with a list of off site parking locations to recommend if the need arises. Again, this is probably not an issue most would be concerned with but since we usually plan group trips, this is on our radar.
Overall, a nice place to stay in Jeff and would definitely make a return visit......just not with a...
Read moreWe recently spent three nights at this property, from the moment we checked in we should have checked out. Problems at check-in as the front desk obviously was not trained correctly, upon receiving the keys to our room and entering our room it's quite apparent the room was dirty and not up to Marriott standards, they were fingerprints, the room was very very dusty and when I called the front desk the housekeeper that they sent up made excuse after excuse about being understaffed and improper training. A few hours after returning from dinner the TV was faulty and would not turn on. Once again same day checking in we called the front desk a couple of times only to be told the only way the TV would work cuz you had to unplug it and then plug it in, and then when you were done watching it to unplug the TV yet a third time. It's quite apparent that this is a new property and they need more training and more attention to detail. Upon checking out they do not disclose the fact that they charge you for parking, there's some energy fee that they check onto your bill besides local taxes. It's quite apparent that this hotel needs extensive training and potentially Management training as a few interactions that we had management was very unprofessional and how they...
