We (my sister & I) stayed there Tues 9.15.20. There's no handicapped accessibility, which is against the law. I can walk some, but I use a rolling walker. My sister doesn't like heights, and wasn't too wild about looking down from the 2nd floor balcony. Now, my sister & I aren't babies. We're 58 & 56 years old.
I paid $75 in advance, online, for double beds. There was a special going on. They had No double beds on the 1st floor!! I don't believe that anyone was staying on the 1st floor that night. All of the window curtains were open. You could see inside the rooms (4-5 of them).
We had to stay on the 2nd floor. This was horrible for my sister and I. Both of us have back problems, and both of us use rolling walkers. I have CHF, which makes almost activity difficult. No one there read my online instructions before we got there. The front desk guy read them while we were checking in. FROM NOW ON, I'M CALLING IN ADVANCE, TO MAKE SURE A HOTEL/MOTEL HAS WHAT I NEED AND WHAT THEIR WEBSITE SAYS, BEFORE I PAY FOR IT, AND DEFINITELY BEFORE I GET THERE. THIS WILL NEVER HAPPEN TO ME AGAIN. THAT ONE DAY RUINED MY VAC TRIP BACK HOME!! THAT DAY & NIGHT OF THE TRIP WAS HORRIBLE!!!
I knew there was no canc, no refunds, & no exchanges in advance, but, this created a MAJOR problem now!! The front desk guy was nice, but, I felt he could have done more. He told me to call the 800# since I booked through a 3rd party. What 3rd party?? I booked through ChoiceHotels.com, the parent company!!!!! He didn't know what to say then. He just repeated himself. I thought of later, why didn't he call his supervisor or manager OR arrange 2 double beds to be placed on the 1st floor for us OR make arrangements for us to go back to the other Rodeway Inn about 5-6 blocks down the street. We went there first by accident. They told us we were at the wrong Rodeway Inn & sent us down the street. Beforehand, that front desk guy called the Lincoln Ave guy to confirm that our reserv's were there. All of their rooms were on 1st floor. Why didn't he get with his manager and make arrangements for us to stay there instead. Problem with franchise fees?? Room fees?? Who cares right now, it's all about customer service!!!!! Especially now, since the hotel industry isn't during too good because of Covid.
The Lincoln Ave front desk guy DID take the largest & heaviest suitcase upstairs for us, but, I knew in advance, that he wouldn't be there in the AM when we checked out. The front desk girl was very little help. She suggested that we get a maid to help us back downstairs. We did, and tipped her accordingly!! She was very nice, and helped us packed the car. An older Mexican woman about 40ish. I wish I would have gotten her name to acknowledge her here!!
I did know that they didn't have a refrig or microwave. It wasn't mentioned on their website. We bought a toaster oven with us, and got some ice from the ice machine, which was on the ground level, outside. We went to Walmart about 2 miles away and bought a 2nd cooler for our food.
That one night stay, was horrible!!!! I'll never stay there again, and I'm reporting them for no handicapped accessibility or double beds on the 1st floor. I've never seen anything like that in my all my years of being here on this Earth!!
It seems like that Hotel is for hypes. There were 2 of them smoking on the balcony most of the night and they got back up early in the morning, and were back out there again. I had to speak to them once because the cigarette smoke was coming into our room. This was about 7-8 pm. About 10 pm, I had the front desk guy to speak to them about being too loud & talking outside our door!!!! He finally came up there around 11 pm and ask them to quieten down. Shift change then. They were out there until about 2-3 am. They spent more time on the balcony than in their rooms!!!
Also, we had to ask for towels. There...
Read moreService from the beginning upon checking in. I had two different reservation #'s for two night stay because I had originally only booked for one day when I made the mistake thinking it was for two this is why I had two rsv #'s. It took a minute for the guy to find my in the system (didn't get his name-tall skinny guy) finally found me and gave me a room ask if we could have on main level and was told I have to keep what I booked double or king bed and the motel was booked. I needed to come down in the morning and check out and sign in to get the room again. I was checking in (VERY HOT FrI) at 3PM and went up the narrow stairs (half steps-size 13 shoes) got to the room and the housekeeper was in there so we waited and waited and @ 3:26PM she came out and said we need to go down to check into a different room because it was going to be another forty-five minutes. Went back down and then another housekeeper happened to come in behind me to let him know the other rooms that were ready. So finally I got a different room next to the room assigned and back up the stairs. ( I had put in my booking my two request which was extra bath towels and pillows) I was told what ever was in the room is all they had. The room was ok but, the curtains were short you can see under the bottom of the half curtain above the air conditioner and see in the room while laying in bed. The bathroom ruckly had a full roll of toilet paper and the lights were dim in there not bright at all. The shower needs a shower caddy to hold soap/shampoo towels. Nothing in there so you had to sit stuff on the shower floor. No extra pillows or towels in the room and the house keeper didn't come back the next day to change out towels or make the bed!. I can only say when going down to re check in for Sat (King-African American man) was very nice and he was even three when I had to check out on Sunday. NOT RECOMMENDING this motel to anyone. I feel I should have been paid to stay their after all I went through. Oh the parking lot is...
Read moreHonestly, the hotel itself was great, the housekeeping is amazing, they keep things really clean and come in every day, making sure you are okay and don't need anything. The service was horrible the first day of check in, i went into the office to check in and there was an extremely rude man, i asked to speak to his manager and he did not even let me speak once i shared my opinion on his service and stated that he was being rude since i walked in, he then kept interrupting me and kept saying he wasn't yelling and gave me the key to the room, I left bc I was on vacation, I didn't want to argue on my VACATION. The key didn't work so I went back to the office, when I walked in the so called manager was still on the phone and was asking how I looked, and talking about the situation, he told her I was back and she rudely replied with a horrible attitude "now what does she want" i told him I noticed he was still on the phone with her so i stated and told him I didnt like the way he spoke to me when I arrived, and told him he was being very rude, he stood there said okay okay please leave ma'am as if I was the problem or the one who was being rude. [with true honesty we picked this place bc it was one of the cheapest, we had plans to do other things that were pricey so we booked with this option, but there was another one that was cheap and I don't believe in the "you get what you paid for" because at the end of the day we CHOSE to spend our HARD WORKED money in a establishment, and expect AT LEAST not to be yelled at or a man that is giving you attitude once you walk in]
The next day we left and came back in the afternoon, and never saw him again. We saw two nice ladies up front who never caused issues; on the contrary, they were very helpful. After the first day, we had a great time there, everyone was friendly, and informative. Other than the problem with that man on the first day I would...
