I'm sure how I feel about this place... Just yet. Love that a 24-hour place is finally within walking distance, just not 100% it's my go-to spot. The first 2 times I went, the food was so good that I didn't mind the little errors in my order. I ordered the steak burrito,a taco, and a drink. (First time they forgot my taco but gave me a torta with everything on it, which i don't it with lettuce and tomato, and that was almost 50% of the torta) The second time, they were confused on the phone because they weren't sure if they had the drink I wanted. ( I think I wanted guava and he said okay and then said actually they didn't have it, so when I asked what they did have, he ignored my question and just asked what flavor I wanted... which was hard to answer because I didn't wanna choose another one they were out of.. which I did. So he finally said they only had 3 flavors ATM since they just opened, and that's understandable.)
I hadn't been back in months, and I ordered myself breakfast and lunch for work, including something for a work friend. And they gave me a torta instead of my friend's toastada. They saw my note about no lettuce and tomatoes but didn't add "extra cheese, beans, sour cream," like it also said. Which is fine. But I was hoping they would do it. And charge me extra if anything because some places do that. But the point is my friend didn't want the torta.. he didn't ask for.. And my burrito, which was chorizo and egg.. Felt like it didn't even have beans in it. But it was still pretty good and big. I was so excited to pick up this morning, but at the end of the day .. my experience was lackluster because it wasn't 100% what I wanted. And mistakes happen. I'm probably gonna go back and order some more stuff and see if this place is actually somewhere I'd bring people to or tell them about.
P.s. I put the Quesadilla in the air fryer before adding sour cream that I have in my fridge.
I guess it's been a while since I had Spanish "crema" since I know taste slightly different than regular white people sour cream.. But .. the two little things of crema they gave me tasted kinda off...
ONLY IMPORTANT THING IS The green sauce... some places do the green hotsauce thing .. (and they do it wrong)
This place has amazing green sauce! The red is pretty good, too, but the green is probably why I am willing to come back and...
Read moreI’ve been to Tacos El Tío before and had a decent experience, but this last visit was extremely disappointing. I took my family out for tacos, and unfortunately, we were greeted by someone new (at least to us) who gave off a terrible attitude from the start.
The tacos were completely tasteless nothing like what we expected or what we’ve had in the past. To make things worse, when it was time to pay, the waitress added an 18% tip herself, despite her poor service. That was honestly shocking.
I had asked for a price breakdown to understand how much each taco cost, and instead of answering clearly, she told us we needed to pay first, which felt super suspicious. In the end, we paid $80 for 11 tacos and a quesadilla including the tip she added without permission. That’s insane.
Sadly, we won’t be coming back. Tacos El Tío just lost a...
Read moreI ate at the Belmont location last night and greatly enjoyed it. Didn’t know this second location existed.
Huevos a la Mexicana. It’s was delicious. I’m trying to figure out why I enjoy this meal so much and I think I figured it out. I think they make the food here with love.
My dad was a great cook. But if he ever cooked angry, you could taste it in his food. He would always cook with love, and it was noticeable.
I think this place is cooking with love. The ladies that work here are lovely beings that have immense pride in their restaurant.
I’m making this place my default breakfast spot.
Once I burn out on the huevos a la mexicana, I’ll try...
