OLD management was excellent (2020 through 2022). THIS (new?) 'management' is HORRENDOUS. RUN from this place. There are WAY BETTER pet-friendly hotels around (as I later found out - SEE EDIT BELOW).
Under new management (2023) this place took a DEEP DIVE into Absolutely inhospitable and totally nightmarish.
To begin, 'manager' didn't want Discover card because "too many fees." I kid you not. He then said my card didn't work. It did, but I called my bank anyway. They said nothing was wrong. Still, I told the manager I would Zelle my son's MasterCard, and all of a sudden, my card magically worked for him. He THEN asked for CASH for the "last days of months" (we reserved 4 months while our house is renovated). Now, despite pleading for 1st floor room (medical issues) from the moment we made the reservations months before, we got a 2nd floor room. The first week, our car was broken into ... the first time. Yes, you read that right. A few quarters were taken. NBD. Second week, lady sleeping in stairwell near our door. We gave her orange juice. (There was a homeless encampment 10ft. away from the side door of hotel which police cleaned out a couple of weeks later). Internet on our side of the motel DID NOT WORK! Mgr. said it worked fine. Days later another mgr lost service on the second floor. MORE THAN A WEEK with NO internet, then the rest of the time all disconnects. Next week, noisy neighbors with kids in room NEXT to ours (on purpose because hotel was empty). No Housekeeping FOUR days in a row. HK Lady said it was because the hotel had no business and most rooms were empty. No toilet paper one full day. Following week guy running up hallway in underwear. Dirty, dingy, sheets - miraculously, no bed bugs. Shower is drip terrible. No pressure. WE cleaned bathtub and toilet (toilet seat was unscrewed on one side) NO laundry facilities - ALL out of order. iPhone disappeared from room. Amazon pkgs left at Mgr Window were "lost." Oct. 10, car broken into AGAIN. Mgr raised price each time we paid in cash (which he ASKED FOR). Per day went up $3 each time. They hung up sign that says they can change rates at any time. (See video). At one point, I even wondered if this place is a front for something else. What else explains the way they do their absolute BEST to alienate and push AWAY customers? I have a mind to report them to every governmental agency I can think of. They DID permit me 3 dogs for which I WAS EXTREMELY grateful, but the manager and partners were just too AWFUL. Seedy, greedy. The type of guys who desperately WANT to FEEL bigger than others, when in reality they know they're insignificant, so they try to make up for it by incessantly thinking up nefarious things to try and make an easy dollar. BELIEVE ME (and READ the other reviews) when I say that this hotel (if karma is real) is a cesspool and will continue its nosedive in that direction due to its (mis)management. Lastly, SOMETHING needs to be done to CHANGE the LAWS which govern hotel occupancy, moving them more toward tenant status for extended stay properties than current loose transient status on the books. These people had no clue how tenacious I used to be. Perhaps this is a project to work on.
EDIT: OMG! We switched hotels and I cried the first night at new place because I was SO happy .... and sad. Sad, that I had not left the cesspool which was Motel 6 MUCH SOONER!!! This NEW hotel (an IHG property) we're at, is CHEAPER (although truthfully, I'm on a special rate). Still, AGAIN, OMG (!!!) WHAT A DIFFERENCE! The front desk people are WONDERFUL. The rooms are beyond beautiful, and mostly, the attention to detail is AMAZING. At the dirty, trash Motel 6 you barely get towels and toilet paper. Here, you have full bottles of DOVE shampoo, conditioner and body wash on the GRANITE wall of the big tub. You have a FULL kitchen with EVERY detail including dishware. I want to LIVE here and could KICK MYSELF for the money and time WASTED at Motel 6...
Read moreMy family and I came to Houston for a wedding, so it was important we had a place that was near the venue. This was that place. We chose Motel 6 because we like the price point, the service we’ve received at other motel 6 locations the rooms have always felt clean and (most importantly) it’s pet friendly. With that being said, this was by far the worse motel 6 we’ve stayed at.
When we went to check in, there were 2 signs that stated “no pets allowed, only service animals.” 1 at the front door and 1 by the check in, so we almost didn’t check in. There is no elevator, only stairs to take you to the second floor. (we didn’t mind this, I just want people to be aware) The grass is not cut, like at all, so there was limited areas where our dogs could do their business. (I have small dogs so if they went into the grass I would not be able to see them) The hallway our room was on, smelled awful! I can’t fully describe what it smelt like, it was a mix of wet dog, rotten food and stagnant water. Just gross. The front desk isn’t very approachable. I went downstairs at around 10/11 (I can’t recall the exact time just that it was dark out already) to see if maybe there was a bathroom on the first floor to use since my husband was in ours and I really had to go. I had to say excuse 3 times before the guy acknowledged me. 3 times, oh and the guy was looking right at me too. Do with this information as you wish. The bedding in our room was terrible. The sheets had stains/marks and holes. The holes were burn holes, they looked as if someone put their cigarettes out on the bed. (We had a no smoking room) When I went to shower and turned the water on, a terrible smell came out. The smell smelt like stagnant water and I didn’t feel comfortable showering so we bathed at a friend’s hotel. There was a towel I used that wasn’t clean! One night I had to get the small wash cloth to wipe my dog’s paws, well when I opened it there were black lines. The lines looked fresh, like this towel had been used, wasn’t washed, and folded up so someone else can use it. There were roaches. Anytime we turned off the lights, more roaches appeared. My husband and I ended up sleeping with all the lights on so we didn’t have a roach crawl over us.
There was a policy this motel 6 had, that just didn’t sit right me. I’ll add the photo so people can see, but basically it states the hotel can change the rate of your room without you (the guest) knowing. This didn’t add any negativity to our stay, I just want people to be aware so they can make an informed decision if they want to stay...
Read moreMy family and came to this Motel 6 based on the reviews it had, which of course they were mainly positive. We knew as soon as we pulled up to their parking lot that it was a cool spot. We checked in without any hiccups. We got to our room and it was SOOOO clean and BIG! The rooms look like they were recently remodeled. They have a cool dining table with two chairs, a mini fridge and a microwave. Plenty of towels in the bathroom. It’s quiet and no weirdos hanging out in the parking lot. The staff are friendly and professional. Oh, yeah, they have the drinks and snacks up the front desk (I’m sure that it’s due to COVID), but it doesn’t bother us at all. My husband forgot to mention our puppy (she’s a new addition to our family) while checking in, we went back to let them know and the gentleman behind the counter was totally cool about it. He simply asked us how many pets we had and said that it was ok, he didn’t even charge us for her. I would totally recommend this place to anyone. The environment is different from any Motel 6 we’ve been to. This one has been the BEST motel 6 by far! And no, it’s not an exaggeration on our behalf. We’re glad it all worked out because we have equestrian business to deal with about 5 miles away. Oh, it’s all indoors, so people can’t hang out outside of their rooms and cause a ruckus. Simply a cool place.
UPDATE We stayed here for a few days and it all went well. The first couple of days we could smell pot as soon as we walked into the hallway, but as soon as those guest checked out, it seemed as if management attempted to get rid of the smell, because the lobby and hallway smelled like some sort of air freshener (which was pleasant). Just as well, one of the guests seemed to have some sort of dispute with someone else in the lobby. Aside from that, it was quiet and peaceful inside. We’ll definitely stay...
