Don’t pick this hotel if you’re looking for wedding blocks. *
In town for a wedding, location and parking are perfectly adequate with ample space in parking garage for overflow. Rooms fine, nothing fancy - standard Holiday-Inn
Now for the hard part.
Our wedding group had a major hotel block, to the tune of 30+ rooms and 90% of the guests were out of state travelers.
I had called ahead to ask about early check in since I was in the wedding and we had rehearsal Friday. Also for a joined room as we had a 4mon old baby with us and my parents along for help. The lady on the phone got the rooms joined and said everything was good to go. Very sweet and helpful.
We arrived Friday at 2:20 and they said our rooms weren’t quite ready yet, they couldn’t give us a timeline, but they were on our wing and moving fast.
(Normal check in is at 3)
Come 3:45 our room still wasn’t clean. I had to be ready by 4:10 and my wife needed to shower, feed the baby, and get him down for his nap before she had to be at the dinner party by 6.
At 4:05 I had to change in a friends room to make the 4:30 rehearsal at the venue. My wife had to breastfeed the baby in the lobby all while hanging out with about 5 other groups who also didn’t have their rooms ready…
I left for rehearsal and finally my wife texts me around 5 that the rooms were cleaned. However dinner was at 6 and we were inevitably 30 minutes late due to the time issues.
I wish it ended there…
At dinner we found out that more guests and family had issues and some STILL didn’t have rooms cleaned. Grooms sister got a text around 8pm finally saying their room was clean.
Day of wedding. Hoards of more guests will be showing up and a shuttle bus is set to leave at 3:50 for the venue.
People started arriving around 2pm and “some rooms” were available. However, those quickly got taken up and by 2:30 they said no more checking in until 3pm, even if you called ahead - they need time to clean rooms.
The line got longer. Check in got slower. The picture is from 3:35pm with the majority of the people in line needing a room to change & then get on the bus. You can even see one gal already dressed at the desk trying to still check in. Some guests changed in the bathrooms or friends rooms and left bags in other rooms to make the shuttles.
Thankfully, we were able to stall one bus and delay that departure so other guests didn’t miss the wedding, but way too many people chose to drive bc they missed the firsti one and didn’t know the second stayed back.
At check out Sunday - I asked if anything could be done for not having rooms ready and causing people to miss or be late for wedding events and all I got was a simple “sorry.. no. We’re overbooked and understaffed”
How a hotel that knew about a major wedding for 5+ months wasn’t prepared for this weekend is beyond me.
But I’d highly advise picking a different hotel if you’re looking for a...
Read moreI don't even know where to begin. Every Hiday Inn I have ever stayed at offers a free breakfast in the morning. Your location does not. As a family of 6, this is an amenity we were counting on. Since you don't offer a breakfast, we went to the restaurant to buy one. We sat, and sat, and sat...no waitress ever came. 45 minutes. Not a single person working in the restaurant came over to help us. Forcing myself and my kids to eat a $10 a plate buffet breakfast. Even though we had items picked off the menu we wanted to order. It was only after my husband got up and tracked down someone to help us, that we got any service. And at that point all she did was bring water, since we hadn't been helped and none of us had anything to drink with our $10 buffet. And the food? It was gross. I figured since we were expected to pay $10 and the meal was in your restaurant, the food would at least be restarunt quality. Not so much. The eggs were gritty and cold. The potatoes were soggy and cold. The pancakes were oddly flavored and cold. Needless to say, my kids barely touched their $10 breakfast. My bill came to almost $50 for food no one ate. Not to mention the horrible service. We went to the pool four or five times during our stay, never, not once were there pool towels stocked in the pool area. Not once. We either had to use towels from our room, or remember to ask the front desk for towels on our way to the pool. Given the traffic going thru your hotel this particular weekend, one would assume you would keep pool towels in the pool area for your guests to use. Also, our room never got cleaned during our stay. We had to track down a member of housekeeping just to get fresh towels. Another time we asked if our room could be cleaned while we were out, she said it wasn't on her particular list, but would get it cleaned by someone. Well, that never happened. With 6 people, 4 of whom are kids, in one room, it definitely needed cleaned. But that didn't happen either.
We were staying there as part of a wedding party. Everyone I talked too who stayed from the wedding was unimpressed with the hotel. And unimaniously agreed your "breakfast" was both over priced and terrible.
I'm also not sure why you charge your guests to park at a hotel they are already paying to stay at!!! I've never had to pay to park at a hotel!!!! Overall my family, and others I talked to who stayed were disappointed. I live close to a Holiday Inn, and have stayed at others that far exceeded what your particular property dished out. I would not only NOT recommend your location, I would advise people against...
Read moreGreat staff. Terry,Monica, and I think her name was Holly ...we're extremely accommodating. The restaurant that is attached. Harrigans, was nice. The dinner is kinda pricey but the breakfast was decent. I had some issues with the cooking temperature of the steak for breakfast. If you like well done. Do not order the steak, it will be medium well or medium, never Well done. The ladies who waited on me, we're super P0p0and super friendly. This hotel is pretty busy, I can see why. The location and service is great. Here's a run down. Pros -Fitness room, pretty decent. The elliptical machine, doesn't work 😭 -Sauna -nice size pool and Jacuzzi -walking distance to everything -Try Six pack deli- good subs n pizza -Dispensary within walking distance (gotta have medical card) -staff is so helpful and great at recommendations -major chain restaurants and shopping only 10-12 mins away driving. -Barber shop in walking distance -couple of dive bars in the area -Parking garage and open parking available -super comfy beds and cozy rooms. -thy take pride in cleanliness, that was a was for me -walking distance to the hockey rink really close to the incline and Johnstown sign for photos.
Cons -Breakfast tickets must be purchased beforehand or pay menu pricing as you go. -Eliptical machine in workout room doesn't work. The start button won't do anything. -check your shower and water before agreeing to the room. I had room 314- it was terrible and had no hot water, so they moved me.The mgmt handled that professional and promptly. Thank you!! -places aren't open late like for weekend partying(some) -the elevator broke down and we were down to 1 elevator for a couple of days. -this is one of the nicer hotels in the area so convention's, events, etc..be prepared to look for parking if you can't in the garage. -Sheetz will give you the Shitz 😂 -you better have good tires cause the roads are treacherous in that area. -Have cash most places, not sure why but many places like you to...
