Went down during the first week and for it being their opening they sure did an amazing job. Love the store and how everything is set up. They offer a variety of menu options and also sell freshly made already packaged juices in their cooler. Got the small Pitaya bowl and everything was fresh and well put together. Also tried the Sweet Green smoothie and it didn't disappoint. Looking forward to visiting again.

Simply the best açaí bowls and smoothies around! The restaurant is super clean and very atheistically decorated. If you haven’t tried it yet I highly recommend! ❤️

I bought açaí bowls from Roots all summer in 2023 and thoroughly enjoyed them, frequently recommending Roots to friends and visitors to Johnstown. Returning this summer, I noticed a significant decline in quality.

Firstly, açaí bowls are now pre-scooped and stored in a freezer until ordered, with fresh toppings added afterward. The bowl I received was frozen solid. When I asked the staff about my difficulty in getting my spoon through the frozen açaí, they informed me that their freezer was "over freezing" the bowls and that the owner was aware of the issue.

Secondly, I ordered my bowl to go, but it was prepared for dine-in. This minor mistake was easily resolved, but as I drove away, I realized the açaí was still a frozen mass. I attempted to call the establishment several times during my drive but received no answer. I finally turned around and made the fifteen-minute drive back downtown.

The employees were polite and explained that the owner had taken the phone, which was why my calls went unanswered. They also mentioned that the owner was aware of the over-freezing issue. I declined the refund and offer to remake my order as, by that point, thirty minutes after I had initially ordered, the bowl was starting to defrost. I didn't want another frozen bowl.

I understand that these issues stem from the owner, not the employees, but I am very frustrated with the sudden decline in quality at this establishment. This is why I chose to share my experience and...

I always comes to this place and always get good customers service but yesterday was completely horrible I came in 5 minutes before closing and my order was just put together not how it usual is with the fruit going all around look all nice and neat. The part that pissed me off the sever which was a male and female who was working at the time just gave me the bowl with no lid no bag no nothing when I ask for a lid I was told by the rude guy which was the other server that didn’t give me eye contact had his back turn also and said there’s nothing he can do for me I’m like you kidding me right which was lids on top but wasn’t the size he says it didn’t matter just wanted me walk out the store with nothing coving my fruit no bags no napkins was on the table no nothing just rude comments such as we have 4 minutes to closing so you treat your customer like anything because you close in 4 mins and I didn’t want to make this a racist thing but everybody else was treated with respect when asking for the manager couldn’t get no answer not...

Low quality & pricey. I don’t mind expensive when it’s high quality but this isn’t it (cheap GMO ingredients). Variety of options are limited here and having 1 or 2 organic things doesn’t make everything else that. Also, weird vibes there.

And why have no dairy milk but then have dairy yogurt in almost every smoothie! I couldn’t swap it out even though I have a dairy allergy because everything is already prepped (I completely get having prep when busy). But things need to be changeable with allergies or not prepared with common allergens like dairy.

Due to this I was “forced” to have the only smoothie not prepped with yogurt. Had beets in it, which I love beets but it wasn’t a good smoothie. It was tangy, bitter & more like a juice not a smoothie. Beet juice by itself would’ve tasted better than this. And my friend got a PB & banana 🍌that was made with coconut water because they only have almond milk which she’s allergic to. Extremely...
