The Manager, Laura, went above and beyond to make a very bad situation, right! Each member on staff was friendly and accommodating as well. My stay; however, was NOT a pleasant one.
The first suite with 2 queens we received had ants (their solution was to give us 2 rooms, side by side). One of the two rooms had spider webs, dark brown/black spots on the AC unit and the room was extremely stuffy. I called back to report that I was not satisfied with these rooms either, and because they were full for the evening, they were limited in ways to help. They promised to issue us another room after checkout the following day, stating that we would simply need to come down to re-check in.
Because we, at the time, lived locally and was in the process of moving out of our house, we opted to stay the evening at home and take all of our refrigerated items from our refrigerator and utilize the hotel's. When we returned to the hotel after clearing out of our old home and reported to the front desk as requested, we found that all of our groceries and personal effects that were left in the reserved room had been thrown away!
This is when our interactions began with the Manager. She was truly apologetic for the miscommunication that led to our personal items being disposed of. She was made aware by the cleaning staff that there was a substantial amount of food/things left in a room, but further communication did not occur and everything was thrown out. To make things right, the Manager offered to replace our groceries at her own expense. We did not wish to go grocery shopping because we were so exhausted from all of the moving we had done, so instead, she compted our stay in it's entirety.
It should be mentioned that the Manager's husband had major surgery the morning following our grocery incident, and though she was out for the day, she still returned the next day, contacted me immediately, and discussed with me ways to make it right. Unfortunately, due to the rooms having the issues that they did, I can't give the hotel a five star, but because of the effort to prevent perpetual dissatisfaction, they were BY FAR the best and most accommodating staff/establishment I've ever encountered.
Sometimes you go through a bit of turmoil and from that, major blessings ensue. The Managers to include the staff will make it right! Give them a chance to show you that they are an awesome bunch of individuals. They found a wat to turn everything around and reminded me believe that good (GREAT) customer service still exists! Thank you,...
Read moreDue to some unexpected issues, I called ahead that I may be late and to please not get rid of my room. I was assured by the professional and courteous staff member that I had nothing to worry about and she'll see me soon. I was pleased to meet, Ms. Angie, upon my arrival and we shared a lively conversation which included what I was to expect for my visit plus a few tidbits about the area. This was a very great start and she never waivered throughout my stay. I enjoyed our quick conversations whenever I was having a moment. The next staff member also from the guest registration desk was Ms. Arlene. Her smile and infectious laugh kept me in high spirits throughout my trip as well. It was a treat to see her whenever she was on duty. She ensured I ate well in KCMO by making recommendations and then listening to how it went upon my return. I greatly appreciated her warm and inviting aura. The last person from the same department that helped make this visit even more rewarding than the training I received was Ms. Shonda. Every day that she was there, I complimented her on her beautifully maintained crown/mane/coif and asked persistently how did she keep it looking so. She patiently told me what worked for her and that I may have to try a few things but eventually it'll work out. She never told me that it was the wrong topic of discussion and to go about my merry little way and I greatly appreciated that. The staff of TownePlace makes sure that all of their guests know how much their business is appreciated by hosting reception dinners. This is a unique and awesome treat because it introduces you to the tastes of Kansas City's famous BBQ. Thank you all. I want to give a shoutout to the culinary staff, cleaning staff and maintenance crew as well. Each day I was greeted with a smile from each of them. I didn't hold any major conversations nor get their names but I could describe them because their presence was ingrained on my heart. You all work hard and may not hear it often but please know that I appreciate you and all that you do for the hospitality of others. Thank you and God...
Read moreWe stayed there for a fun Mother's Day weekend getaway. It was my husband and I and our 8-year-old son.
Check-in was quick and easy and the staff was welcoming and friendly. The lobby was clean and modern looking. Our room was really neat! It had a full kitchen with a full size fridge, small oven/stove, sink, dishwasher and pots/pans and dishes. It had a nice sleek looking desk, two roomy and modern closets, one near the kitchen and one in the bedroom. Our room had a sofa sleeper in the living area and a separate bedroom with a door.
The bathroom was nice. It had a walk-in shower with clear glass and a full sized mirror on the door. I do wish they had another mirror outside the bedroom somewhere so I could put on my makeup or do my hair while someone else was using the bathroom. Most hotels have that, but for some reason this one doesn't. Our son really liked the sofa bed that had a t.v. in the room. It must have been easy to put back into a sofa because in the morning he had already done it by himself. Our bedroom was nice with a t.v. and a clock radio that had a bunch of cords attached to it so you could use them to charge your phone or tablets of any brand. I never did have to get out my cords! Pretty cool. My only issue with the bedroom was with our queen sized bed. The bed was extremely uncomfortable! I'm a side sleeper so need a softer bed and this one was hard. My husband, a back sleeper, even said it felt like an older bed and has sleep on more comfortable mattresses at much older hotels. I asked the front desk if they had a mattress topper to help, but they didn't. I had to take a sleep aide the second night in order to sleep.
Overall, I really liked this hotel. Not sure if I would stay there again, but that's only because of the horrible mattress. If they had a more comfortable mattresses, I would have given them a 5 star rating, recommend the hotel to everyone, and definitely stay there again. I'm hoping they will do something about the mattresses because I would like to go back,...
