UNIVERSAL FURNITURE STORE — Hotel in Kenner

If I could give zero stars I would. I bought a coffee table, 2 end tables, and a foyer table along with other furniture in September 2021. I advised the manager that I was purchasing a new home and would need him to hold the furniture until my current hone at the time was sold, and until I could get into my new home... I told him it would be sometime in February when I’ll need the furniture delivered. I put a down payment and was making payments about every 2 weeks. When February gets here, I paid off the balance and wanted to schedule the delivery date... the manager told me he sold my coffee table and two end tables to someone else because he didn’t think I still wanted them. First of all, I never told you I didn’t want them and secondly, if I didn’t want them, why would I continue to make payments on it. He then tells me I can reorder the tables and it would take 3 months to get to the store... which would have been in May. The middle of May gets here and still no tables. At this point I’m really upset!! You sell the furniture I was currently paying on without my knowledge. Then promised another set in May which never happened. So have it more time, the middle of June I call back about the tables, they have no clue what to say other than we don’t have them, and wanted me to wait. Finally, I just told them I wanted a refund. I will sit on a rock before I buy from them again! So June 30th, I ordered the same table set from the Ashley Store and it was 31% cheaper and it was delivered today!!! Manager never offered an apology or and discount or anything. I’d advise anyone not to shop there because the are not fair and treat the customers poorly. When I put the down payment on the tables, they tried to force a Google review down my throat and wanted me to review them right then and there. After going to multiple furniture stores, we finally found my rocker recliner at Universal Furniture - Kenner. Being pregnant and a plus size woman, I was looking for something roomy, sturdy, and comfortable. As soon as we entered the store, team member Keyonna greeted us and showed us to the recliner section. She showed us the larger options and then landed on the rocker one. She even gave us some space to try it out and make our decision in private. I so appreciated that, because we didn’t get that kind of service or respect at other stores. She was so kind and helpful.
