I ordered 2 dozen crabs and 1 pound of shrimp from Stevensville Crab Shack, placing my order a day in advance and paying in cash. When I picked up my order the next day, I was given one large bag and stapled to that bag was a receipt listing both items that I ordered.
Upon returning to my rental, I discovered the shrimp was missing. I immediately called Stevensville Crab Shack, only to have the phone ring for at least 10 minutes before someone finally answered, only to hang up on me. I called back, and after another long wait, I was put on hold for about 5 minutes.
When I finally spoke to the manager (or possibly the owner), I explained the situation. Instead of helping, he accused me of lying, claiming he personally handed me two bags. He mentioned they had cameras and would check the footage but ultimately agreed to refund the missing shrimp. However, I had to drive back to the restaurant to get my refund since I paid in cash.
When I arrived the next day, the same person was there. I asked if he checked his cameras and he said no. He probably did check and just didn't want to admit their mistake. Furthermore, he offered no apology whatsoever. Instead "sorry about the mishap" , their staff gave me a very sarcastic “Have a nice day!”
Bottom line: the service here is terrible. Just look at their google reviews. They don't even respond to them. Probably because they just don't care.
There are plenty of other places to get crabs, and I recommend you choose one of them. If you still decide to try their food, consider getting it to-go—unless you enjoy sitting at dirty picnic tables close...
Read moreThis little place is an absolute gem! The food is always super fresh and cooked to order. Ironically, we've never had the crabs (I am allergic and my family just gets other dishes for ease) but we've ordered the beer battered cod, orange roughy, shrimp salad, steamed clams, fried clams, popcorn shrimp, steam shrimp and crab cake many times and they never fail to deliver the freshest, most delicious dishes. The owners and staff are also very friendly and you can tell they appreciate their customers.
The sides are awesome and stand out much more than the usual bland extra to the main dish. The cucumber salad is my favorite, made in typical Eastern Shore style with a light sweet and sour vinegar dressing and thinly sliced onions but other can't miss dishes are the potato salad, cole slaw and deviled eggs.
Get your food to go or grab a couple of individual beers and park yourself at one of the handful of picnic tables outside and enjoy the outdoors. There are a couple of small high-top tables inside but most people use them to wait for their food.
My only suggestions would be to add more picnic tables, add more trees for shade because even with umbrellas, it gets very hot, and to have more fly traps because they can be relentless. Don't miss the...
Read moreI never write reviews, but I just had the most bizarre experience. Mostly sharing my experience for safety awareness.
We walked in and the person at the cash register did not acknowledge us and WAS NOT WEARING A MASK. Instead, he acknowledged and took the order of the gentleman in line behind us. If we weren’t desperate for food, we wouldn’t even have placed our order due to the lack of masking and the terrible service.
So imagine. You walk into an establishment, to the register, to place an order. The person behind the counter, WEARING NO MASK, completely ignores you and takes the order for the person behind you. It literally was mind-boggling. After taking the gentleman’s order behind us, he still did not acknowledge us. We are literally the only ones in the shop, standing at the counter.
Also, I watched the young lady prepare takeout orders without gloves, touching containers and such with BARE HANDS. Like really? It was so disturbing. Our orders weren’t in containers, thankfully, but I was absolutely shocked. All in all, crab cakes were small and not great. Not at all worth the risk to your health and those of your...
