I came to the Château from San Diego on Sunday to celebrate my late motherâs birthday, as her resting place is in Coachella. First off, the welcome we received from Paul, was not at all welcoming. He did didnât introduce himself, didnât inquire about how we were doing; he gave me a paper to sign agreeing that I would be checking out on Wednesday. He then handed me 1 key and told me the room number. He said , âI just like to let you know that the restaurant will be closed Monday and Tuesdayâ. Nothing else, no instructions, no enjoy your stay, nothing! We proceeded to our room, with the 1 key that he gave us,, kind of puzzled as to why we only received 1 key. Once we entered the room, we found it modestly decorated, however the chair looked quite worn, and the carpet was filthy. It didnât looked as though it had been vacuumed, and it was stained. The bathroom was very nice, but the shower glass didnât appear to be clean. We decided to go out for dinner, but we stopped to ask if it would be possible to get a 2nd key. Paul asked us what our room number was, and retrieved the 2nd key. We thanked him and left. The next morning, someone was trying to enter our room, when asked , âcan we help you?â, startled because it was rather early. The person at the door was asking if we were checking out. We told the person, no we are not checking out, as we were scheduled to stay until Wednesday. A short time later, we received a call from Paul at the front desk apologizing for the mix up. My sister then asked when Housekeeping comes to clean the room, we were then informed that Housekeeping only comes if you are staying for more than 3 days. As we were leaving for the day on Monday, we saw the Housekeeping Staff, and asked if we could have clean towels and if she could possibly vacuum our carpet, as it looked as it had not been vacuumed the previous day. Housekeeping politely obliged. We stopped at the front desk, to let Paul know of our request of housekeeping , so that she wouldnât get into trouble. My sister commented to Paul(which we didnât even know his name until after this exchange), that he seemed a little bit more polite today than he did the previous day. Paul said, that he apologized for not mentioning the no housekeeping unless you were staying more than 3 days. I told him, you didnât tell us much of anything yesterday, then I thanked him and asked him his name. On Tuesday, after our outing, we called and asked if we could get more towels, toilet paper, and Kleenex. Not long afterwards, there was a loud knock at the door, it was Paul bringing the requested items. My sister went to hang the towels, and noticed that the only hand towel given looked dirty. An hour or so later Claudia, a member of housekeeping passed by our room, and my sister asked if we could get some clean hand towels and toiletries. Claudia was very kind, and brought the items back. Wednesday morning, I was up using the restroom, when I went to change the toilet paper roll, to my great disgust, the new roll of toilet paper that Paul had given us last night, was stained with something brown! It looked beyond disgusting, and I donât know what it was. I had to use Kleenex, to handle my business. It was checkout day, so I left the toilet paper with Paul, and thank him. Surprisingly enough, Paul was actually cordial for the very first time, but first impressions last, and we felt unwelcome from the start of our visit. The positives about the Château are, the bed was very, very comfortable and the view from the balcony was beautiful. There are sea turtles and catfish in the lake, the atmosphere is very serine. I wish I give them a higher rating, but if I compared it to previous places Iâve stayed, the Château was subpar, when it could have been superb! I almost forgot, I was given $29 off for Paul not mentioning the...

Read moreI want to express my deep appreciation for the expertise, professionalism, attention-to-detail, flexibility and above-and-beyond efforts of the entire staff at The Chateau for the beautiful execution of my daughterâs wedding ceremony and reception in August 2024.
A very special mention goes to Manager Karla. I cannot say enough about how her joyful and generous attitude and exceptional customer-service skills contributed to a day of elegance, beauty, joy and celebration. To mention all the ways The Chateauâs staff excelled would make for too long a message. Iâll try, though:
The hotel staff was on top of every detail, making sure the wedding party and overnight visitors were comfortable. The wait staff and bartenders were knowledgeable, friendly, and very attentive.
Chef Joseâs beautiful and delicious creations delighted everyone. From the appetizers at the pre-dinner reception, to the fantastic entrees and delicate desserts, everything was sensational. Flavors, presentation, quantity, quality, and delivery were all perfect. Everyone happily applauded his talent and his kitchen staffâs expertise.
The behind-the-scenes staff I never met, arranged all seating, the wedding, reception and dinner table decorations, and saw to it that every detail was perfect. Our photographers were great and The Chateauâs staff assisted them in every way so they could do their job well.
So many of The Chateauâs staff shone that day. However, the brightest star was Manager Karla. Before, during and after, her leadership, communication and organizational skills made all this happen as we imagined and hoped. Her flexibility in accommodating our many requests was so appreciated. Her constant smile as she did some incredible problem-solving and troubleshooting was exceptional! Her expertise reduced our stress levels before the big day. Karla, a sincere big âTHANK YOU!â for you.
We would strongly recommend The Chateau for everything from drinks overlooking the lovely lake, dinner, hotel stays, or any special group event. The staff provide exemplary services in a beautiful and very romantic setting.
Sincerely, Happy mother of a...
