Sawa Sushi — Restaurant in La Quinta

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING! The only thing worse than the food was the service! Party of 6 for my daughter’s 11th birthday. Place was grimy and hot inside. Tables not wiped clean and chips in the plates and ramekins we were given. Staff stared at us with vacant expressions the whole time. Sushi was probably the worst we have ever had and menu we were given did not really seem to match the one on their website. Lukewarm sushi rolls that were supposed to be cold and hot food that seemed to be microwaved as it had a rubbery texture. Everything was over salted and soup even seemed like it was just reheated. I let the young girl know it was my daughter’s birthday and she nodded and walked away- nothing more said. I have never been to a sushi restaurant that didn’t give at least a little fanfare and fun for someone’s birthday - didn’t want a free dessert, just a little fun shout out- but absolutely nothing- not even a smile from any of the 5 employees gathered behind the counter. Will never return and so disappointed that we wasted a special day on this...

We are on vacation and we’re traveling with eight of us from 15 month old- 47 years old…3 had never had sushi/sashimi! We called in advance to ensure they could accommodate us and they said yes! We arrived and they had the tables set up together with a high chair for us within 5 minutes of my call to them! The food was delicious and all the food went! We ordered the boat for 5 of us and all of us had some! All the food was eaten! The service was wonderful and fresh!!! And the pricing was very affordable! We had the dessert! (2) fried ice creams and green tea mochi! For all 8 of us it was $257 with dessert, (2) sakes, (2) chicken teriyaki plates, (5) rolls and the BOAT!!!! Worth every penny and bite!!!! Highly...

The restaurant is very small, clean, our order came out and looked delicious.. and it WAS... Downside...there was a horrible odor u can smell as u walk into be seated...but it gets worse as u get seated (which is very close to the kitchen & bathtooms)

Unfortunately, my husband had to use the facilities and when he returned to our table, he told me of a nasty smell and mess in the restroom...maybe thats what we were smelling when we walked in?
