Stayed at 'The Tides' for 3 nights and had a great experience based on location, price, and staff. Anderson at the front office went above and beyond to make our stay great - Always so polite and attentive, giving us recommendations to nearby beaches and restaurants, and supplying us with additional towels and trash bags at no additional cost; not to mention he put us at ease to feel safe during Covid as staff always wore masks.
The location was incredibly convenient to everything but away from the busier/louder streets and right across from a park and multiple beaches. One big plus was the FREE parking, which not a lot of places around seemed to offer. We even had flexibility to keep our car there for the afternoon AFTER checkout to make the most of our time in Laguna.
Also, the price was the best value for location and amenities. Upon our arrival, there was a handwritten greeting card in the room welcoming us to 'The Tides'. There was FREE Wi-Fi and complimentary ear plugs for sleeping. Rooms were cleaned daily along with fresh towels, and there was a private outdoor pool and fireplace; which ended up being a great hangout spot for our group.
The only reason this place is not getting 5/5 stars is due to the noise from neighboring guests through the walls/ceiling (we were on the first floor), as well as the shower temps that ran a little inconsistent (switching from hot to cold while showering). It might be b/c it seemed like an older building BUT the complimentary ear plugs helped and were appreciated.
Overall we'd strongly recommend 'The Tides' and would definitely book...
Read moreThe Tides is a boutique motel right on the Pacific Coast Highway. It's perfectly located opposite Heisler Park and the beach. It's an easy walk into town for eateries, art galleries, boutiques, and gift stores too.
The rooms are spacious and simply decorated with a beach theme. We have stayed in 305 and 306 and were both super clean and comfortable for a night. They have excellent wifi, a quiet modern fan/ac, large tv, and soft squishy beds.
There is a small but powerful shower with lovely toiletries and a fridge and coffee-making facilities. There is no breakfast available here, but there are a couple of cafes in the village, or grocery stores to buy your own supplies.
The Tides has a great pool and patio area open from 8 am til 10 pm, with ample loungers, bar seating, and pool toys.
Do expect some road noise as it is on PCH but the owners thoughtfully supply earplugs. It didn't bother us at all but we live near a motorway. The owners will also lend out beach towels, umbrellas, deckchairs, and toys, for beach use.
Free parking, Super friendly...
