I’m not one to write bad reviews but I am BEYOND disappointed. I was just there this past Saturday with my boyfriend and our friends. I booked a special trip down to stay in Newport from Northern California because I was here 2 years ago and the food was amazing. We booked a reservation ahead of time for 6:30pm like we were asked, and we’re only allowed 1.5hrs seating time. When we got there the seating was outside and the table was very small. Because the restaurant was on a hill, the table was slanted so we had to be careful of dishes sliding off. They had us place our order online (due to COVID-19), and asked us to put our table number down so they knew it wasn’t a to-go order. We all placed our orders on our phones and it has us pay ahead of time, including the tip before we even got a chance to be served. It took forever to get our waters, and the beers we had ordered. Then, the server came out with my boyfriends creme brûlée before he even got any of his meal which made no sense. I had ordered 4 things, and only one of mine had come. Our boyfriends left to go re-Park the car closer to the restaurant and the server came over and asked if she could take the two chairs when we hadn’t even gotten half of our food yet, then she wouldn’t even take the dishes from our table (mind you it’s very small). We had to put our dishes on the ground to clear the table and to keep them from sliding off and breaking because she didn’t take them and just kept bringing our stuff out. It was 9pm by this time and I still hadn’t got THREE of the 4 things I had ordered, and my friend didn’t get some of her things as well. So we went to the front and asked what was going on. She said my order was placed as a to-go order and had been sitting there the whole time in a bag. This made no sense since I received one of the three items, so she offered to put it on a plate and I said no because it had been sitting there awhile. Then the server accused my friend of eating her food when she said she didn’t get it, so she literally counted the dishes in front of the server to prove that wasn’t the case at all (luckily she didn’t pick any of the dishes up). When I asked for a refund they said they would, and still hasn’t done anything about it. I am very upset with the service, this place has gone downhill and I feel bad for the people that were after our reservation waiting to get seated since it was taking so long. They weren’t apologetic about the service one bit, and they treated us horribly. Lucky for them they already got a tip before we even got any of our food or had any of...

Was just there this past Saturday visiting all the way down from Northern California. I came here 2 years ago and the food was amazing so I wanted to come back. They asked us to make a reservation ahead of time, which we did for 6:30pm. When we got there, the tables were small especially for 4 people and because the restaurant was on a hill the tables were slanted so we had to be careful of dishes sliding off. They asked us to place our order online and include the table number so it doesn’t get mixed up with a to-go order. We all placed our orders online, and it asked us to pay ahead of time including the tip. It took forever for us to get waters, and our beers. Then, the server brought out my boyfriends creme brûlée before he got any of his meal which makes no sense. It was taking forever for our things to come out we got maybe 3 things total out of the whole table, so our boyfriends went to go move the car closer to the restaurant. The server came by and asked if she could take the 2 chairs away, and we said no, we still had 3/4 of our order we hadn’t received yet. We thought that was so rude, and on top of that, she didn’t take any of our dishes away the entire time (mind you the table is super small) so we had to stack them on the ground. It was already 9pm and I had only gotten one of the four things I had ordered, my friend was missing a lot of her order as well and my boyfriend. We went to the front and both my boyfriends and my order had been placed as a to-go order and was sitting in a bag the entire time. She tried blaming us, and I said how is that possible when I got 1 thing from the order and he got a few things as well? She said she would put them on a plate and I said no because it had been sitting out super long by the time we realized something was wrong. Then the server accused my friend of already getting her food, and she literally had to show her the dishes to prove she didn’t get her food yet. They refunded me for the things I didn’t get that night, but my boyfriend still hadn’t gotten a majority of his order and this isn’t a cheap place. I’m honestly offended how they treated us, it was the worst customer service I’ve EVER experienced. I understand COVID is happening right now, but they need to re-think how they are doing things there before they upset...
Read moreWe used to love it here but the service is simply atrocious. The last 3 times we ordered takeout our food was at least 30 minutes late.
This last time was the end of our patronage. We ordered online and arrived 10 minutes late knowing the food would be delayed. The single working waitress asked my name and told me it would just be a few minutes and that the estimate I was given was wrong. I waited 35 minutes after that while people came and went and finally asked her when there was no one left what the ETA was. She looked at me blankly and said who are you? When I reminded her she said oh, your food is not due for another 20 minutes! (They had t even started) I showed her my receipt from the online order showing it was due so long ago and all she could say was "well there must be some kind of miss-communication. As you can see I'm swamped." (There was only one other take out patron there when I arrived). She then got extremely rude and defensive saying "what do you want me to do? How about an apology for wasting so much of my time and getting the order so wrong? If you have a probleM getting food out i time fix it or give better estimates.
Miki, your employees are an extension of you. That will be the last time we...
