What to say… less than impressed. We stayed on a super rainy weekend, I could see how your ratings could go up if it was sunny and warm. So I’m trying to be fair on our experience of the hotel. I did try and cancel our reservation a week prior given the weather forecast, but was told under no circumstances would they give refunds. So… we went.
The view from the ocean side room was beautiful. It’s in a good location on the beach, lifeguard station is right beside it. There were lots of walking paths along the beach. The hotel is perfect walking distance to the tide pools. I have 2 little kids, one in a crib still. The room was SMALL. Very very small. I was told all the rooms are the same size. There was no room to walk in the room with the crib and the pull out couch. When I say no room, I mean it. No room. We had to put a chair from the room in the hallway, which the front desk people said they would have someone come grab it, no one did.
Since we were there on an incredibly cold and rainy weekend, our clothes were soaked. I asked if there was a dryer, and was told to use the laundromat down the street.
The worst coffee in the world is available At this hotel. Honestly, it’s so terrible. You only get 2 Nespresso pods in your room, so if you don’t like espresso (which we don’t), you’ll have to outsource your coffee needs elsewhere. But don’t worry, they will Charge you a restocking fee for the complimentary items 🤣.
The rooms are very old, and outdated. The doors didn’t close fully, the phone and TV don’t work, the floor itself is actually uneven and creaky. The bathroom door probably made me laugh the most cause it was a sliding one that retracts into the wall, but it doesn’t close all the way.
Very small fridge, no microwave, although to be fair- I don’t know where you would put one in a room that size?
The patio is small, beautiful view- I did like the sliding doors and I thought the shutter blinds were cute. Although let in a lot of light.
There’s no restaurant or room service. Although it’s right in close proximity to a bunch of shops within walking distance, I suppose this isn’t a huge factor. Just information for anyone looking to book.
They charge $40 for parking per day. Which is a lot considering what you’re paying for the room. But I didn’t look into street parking so maybe it was cheaper this way? Still an incredible amount
Now is this hotel worth the price? No. Honestly, no. It’s worth something given the view and proximity to the beach, but the fee for everything was way too much. There was a nightly amenity fee tacked on to the bill which absolutely should be complimentary or optional. It included a lot of things we didn’t use (except the lobby coffee).
This hotel, given its geographical location leaves a lot to be desired. We looked into a few hotels in the area before booking, and there were much better ones with more complimentary amenities for the same price, on the beach.
In all honesty, I completely recommend you look at different hotels before considering this one-ESPECIALLY if...
Read morePassing through Laguna Beach and decided to stay here. Hopped onto their website to browse rooms for the night saw their best offer was a top floor unobstructed double queen with parking included.
Since we were on the road already decided to call to make that reservation, I was told it’s their best room with the best views completely unobstructed and the very top floor and of course their top priced room. Excited I offer up my credit card details and booked the room.
We arrive to a pleasant lady at the front desk named Judi who checks me in. Room 413 she assigns to us, hands the keys and is pleasing and courteous and frankly the only reason I am giving this a 1 star. This is in contrast to the Man I called down to speak to when I got the family “two adults + two kids” all unloaded and into the room.
I called down to request a different room on the top floor as floor 4 and room 413 was not only obstructed by the pool and a whole section of the hotel as a matter of fact rooms 415 and 414 where litterally and a section of palms trees and greenery are blocking the views of this room.
So I not only did not get the top floor I was raved about and promised and billed $417.52 a night for. $467.52 with a $50 convenience charge. I got an obstructed lower floor with rooms and other guests literally at my balcony.
The uncultured, un-apologetic male front desk staff who put me on hold without notice, when I called to request a new room gets back on the line and relays, that the room I requested and booked for was only available in a limited quantity on the 5th floor and the rooms mainly on the top floor are single bed kings which will not for my family’s needs.
I am irritated at this point, we just completed a long 4 hour drive from Las Vegas and it’s after dark and we were not in the mood to start darting to a new hotel which in hindsight we should have.
This hotel not only lies to its customers to get you to book a room, but they advertise their best rooms and conceive these beautiful lies only to get you in there to be disappointed.
Other big issues here, no room service, only breakfast for 4x the cost of better 5 star hotels we have had the pleasure of staying in.
Old and smelly corridors and hallways, slow lifts to floors, huge details in pressing the buttons to the lift registering your input. Really dirty staircases from their parking structures, rust and nasty run-offs abound. All parking structures lead to the exterior past the front desk. So it’s quite confusing parking here.
It’s old and needs remodeling and many more. They have been found wanting and I will encourage you to take your money elsewhere.
They get a Big O Zero (0) from me. Thanks for reading fellow traveler and unlike me please make the effort to always push back and find somewhere else no matter how...
Read moreI am embarrassed to write this review so late. We moved to Laguna Beach on Oct. 29th, 2023. We didn't even have an apt. yet so we stayed at the Inn for two weeks. We reserved a room facing PCH because we weren't on vacation and just moved from Hawaii (we hardly heard any noise from PCH). Our room had 4 large suit cases, our Maltese and dog steps so it was crowded. The entire staff went out of their way to make us feel like residents not clients. The free coffee in the lobby every morning and the cookies and milk in the evening was a real treat. The coffee was great coffee too. Moving from Hawaii it was a little chilly here in the evenings so I asked for the heat to be turned up when I went to the desk in the morning. The gentleman from maintenance I believe his name was Oscar was there in 5 minutes and fixed it. All of the people from the front desk put up with me for all my requests (just needing help with things while we were looking for an apartment). They were amazing. I had packages arriving from Amazon during the 2 weeks on top of it. I even had to buy a stroller because my little one's knee cap dislocated. Oscar helped with that too. The housekeeping staff was great. They really couldn't do much in our room because it was so full. I had fresh towels every day and changed the bed. The bed and sheets were great. Now we get to the rooftop bar. We would go up there every night and watch the sunset. The bartender is a very nice man that put up with all my chattering of what we did everyday. On a few days when we didn't have any appointments we would go up at 2PM and he was there. The view is magnificent. That is something coming from someone that just moved from Hawaii that had a view of the ocean. I lived right by Diamond Head.
Finally, we found an apartment. We couldn't believe it. It's across the street from the Inn one street back from PCH. We said our good-byes to everyone and the staff especially Oscar helped us with our all of our luggage and Amazon boxes as they put it into the movers truck that had our boxes we had shipped. I hope I didn't leave anyone out.
We watch the reconstruction from our window and it's going to be stunning. We can't wait to join them on the rooftop...
