Don’t think this Holiday Inn Express lived up to its name. Maybe because it was older, just not kept up as much as the chain usually is. Checked in and the minute we walked in the room we found shattered glass in the sink, lots of it, like something had smashed. We looked around and couldn’t find the cause. Big chunks too, not something that could have been missed. Made us wonder how much the room had been cleaned. Bed covers were a wrinkled mess. Found a bug flying around on top of the covers. No sign of anything else. Told the front desk about the broken glass on our way out for the evening and asked to have it cleaned, which it was. Was afraid to go with no shoes in the bathroom after that. Got in around 11:30pm and was up for about an hour more. Lots of squeezing and noice coming through the ceiling of room. Horrible storm went through during the night and fire alarm went off at 3am. Had to evacuate the building while fire department checked everything. Sat in our car for at least 15 minutes. While this wasn’t the hotels fault, nothing was even said about it in the morning when checking out. I even brought it up wondering what had happened, got almost no response from girl behind desk. Between the two situations I would say they don’t have much training on customer service. No apology for glass or disruption in the middle of the night. Not my favorite Holiday...
Read moreIt was bad experience for the team members and staff at the time of their departure from our company and we had a very difficult situation with one of them being a member of the front desk staff and the manager was not able to help us with any questions and issues with the company and the manager had no idea how to help us in the process of being on time and we had to leave a little early because of the situation and the company was very frustrated with us so we decided to leave and find another place to stay. And was very disappointed to see that they had no one else to help us with the issue and they are not able to provide any assistance for us to assist us with any further issues with the situation. We are very disappointed to have been unable to provide assistance until we leave for that hotel. We had a very difficult time with the hotel and staff’s. Read moreFor the price point, five stars. Our room and the hotel in general was very clean and comfortable. Friendly staff. Went down in the evening and someone was cleaning the lobby carpet with an extractor, so they keep it clean. Furnishings are very basic, but clean and not lacking. Assortment of snacks and food in a cooler, microwave nearby, all very nicely presented. Good location if you are going to events at Azure Amphitheater or the KC Speedway which are both south on Hiway 7 that runs in front of the hotel. Many places to eat nearby and gas stations in easy drive. The is a Dollar General in walking distance on the same block as the hotel as of this writing. We went over and picked up some bananas, batteries and rain ponchos we needed. Helpful staff, open at 8 a.m. Keep in mind, the gas station just north is not 24 hour and the shut off the pumps at night. Be aware, no coffee set ups in the rooms, my wife's only complaint.
