Our stay was not planned in Lincoln When the person answered the phone they where very friendly and gave there condolences as we where coming to Lincoln for a Funeral. The only rooms that where available for what we needed was smoking. this was a concern for us as my mom gets very sick around cigarette smoke. the lady on the phone said they would go through and do extra cleaning and spraying to try and make it smell as little as possible. When I have stayed at hotels I have always brought my own pillow and blanket because the pillows are usually very uncomfortable and the blankets are so thin I don't sleep well from being cold. When we arrived at the hotel the staff where very friendly.they where dressed to impress and had everything ready to go for me when I walked in the door. What shocked me the most was when they started telling me about all the little extra things they had. The work out area was very nice and I was able to make up for missing a few days at home. the hotel was very clean and the pictures on the website did not do it justice. then I was told about the other things that where not listed on the website, the dvd check out, the cu bard of items that you can check out board games appliances exc. I thought this was great as people would not bring these things and having the opportunity to be able to get these items to make our meals saved us money from eating at restaurants the whole time we where there. then they showed me the little store area they had, with the food, free coffee, and even fridge items, I was shocked to see the price of the items as they where not over priced and even a few things where cheaper in this cubed then would be at the store. The ability to charge the items to our room was helpful and made getting items fast and easy. I have never seen a hotel offer anything like this. I was told it was what they came up with to make up for not having a pool. I would suggest this to any hotel other than a pool. They also told me about the stores and restaurants in the area that offered discounts if we showed our room card, this was great as we where hungry and we where looking for a place to eat and then needed to go to the store to get food for the rest of the trip. They even gave us a 10% off card at Texas Road House. So we had a nice wonderful dinner after a very long trip to Lincoln. I also loved the rewards program that we signed up for and the water bottles and cookies as a little snack when we checked in. We loaded our items onto the trolley and went up to our room. When we entered the room we where so surprised how nice it was, the quality of the room for the price was amazing. What also was so wonderful, was we could not even tell that it was a smoking room. We could not believe it. Along with all of this I ended up not using my comforter from home as the blankets where nice and soft and very warm and the pillows where very comfortable. The towels in the bathroom we loved although small which is normal they where very soft. Most hotel towels feel like sand paper. The towels here where so soft it was great. We had our 11 month old with us and she snuggled the towel after her bath. Then the check out cabnate came in handy. We where worried about getting enough sleep because we would need some kind of light to be able to check on the baby and lay her down exc. if we had to leave any of the room lights on neither me or my mother would sleep so the last option would have been the bathroom, well with the fan we would not have slept ether. But we found a night light in the check out cabnate and it came in handy we used it both nights we where there and it made everything so much easier. When we checked out I ended up meeting the young lady that came up with the ideas for the cabnates and I told her that they where a wonderful idea and that I will stay at this hotel any time I come in the area. Because of everything this hotel offered we saved money in a long run for staying there. I give this hotel a large 10, in service, amenity's, cleanliness, friendliness, kindness, caring, I cant say enough how much we loved staying at this hotel and how this helped take some stress off our shoulders. I would suggest this hotel to anyone looking for a hotel in Lincoln. I would even say it would be worth staying there even if the vent was on the other side of town. Thank you to the wonderful staff at the Lincoln Candlewood hotel you have no idea how much you helped me and my family during a very...
Read moreI just left another “suite” hotel in Lincoln to come to the Candlewood and the differences are stark. To start with, the Candlewood is geared toward extended stay clientele -- although there’s nothing preventing you from staying just one or two nights. The primary difference is that you will only get maid service on a weekly basis. It’s a newer (built in 2008 according to their FB page), nicer hotel than the one I just came from. It’s also further from the city center (kind of a suburban location). The price of both hotels was the same: $65. The suite I was in was a 1 Queen Bed Studio “Suite”. It’s not what I would normally think of as a suite. It is more like a studio apartment – no separate sitting room. It wouldn't be appropriate for entertaining clients. BTW – there is no sofa, so no easy way for a 3rd person to fit in the room. I do understand that they have roll-away beds available. The kitchen is impressive. It includes a full refrigerator, 2-burner range, dishwasher & microwave. No oven. The bed, linens & towels were very nice – especially compared to my last place. The biggest disappointment was the quality of Wi-Fi. One reviewer said it “wasn't very good.” That was being outrageously generous. Quite frankly, they shouldn't even advertise that it’s there. The Speedtest.net rates I got were consistently between 1 and 2 Mbps. At the other, less nice, suite hotel they were more around 10 Mbps. I think this is particularly significant for those who use this for extended stay. There’s no way you could watch Netflix on this. They do have Ethernet ports if you want to go wired. I didn’t have an Ethernet cable with me so I can’t report on wired performance. I called the front desk and they didn’t have any cables. Using my Verizon phone as a wireless hotspot, my speed was over 5 times faster than what their Wi-Fi was. The downside of doing that is how much data costs on your wireless plan. They have a decent looking exercise room, although I didn’t use it First night was very quiet; a big improvement over the previous hotel. The second night there was a crying baby next door. I could hear it, but the noise was manageable – it wasn’t like it was in the room with me. It didn’t last long. TV was a 32” LG. While not massive, I certainly thought it was appropriate for the room. What distinguished it from the first hotel was the picture. The first hotel was using an analog signal and it looked awful. This hotel had a digital, hi-def signal so it looked as good as you would expect. There’s also a DVD player. No free breakfasts, but I think that’s a reasonable trade-off. I’m giving this a 4 star review. It could have been 5 if they’d just spend a few bucks on...
Read moreThe microwave in my first room did not work. I tried to call the front desk and the phone in my room did not work. In fact it was not even plugged in at all so I had to go down to the front desk. So they moved me to the room next to my original room. It was so HOT in the room and the temperature gage on the wall would not turn on. I did call the front desk and they said to start turning knobs on the unit. Nothing worked yet again. So I went down to the front desk again and got me another room clear down the hall from my original room ( im at this hotel for a full week due to work so I had alot of stuff to move) Was told I had to move everything to my new room ASAP and with absolutely no help from anyone. No maintenance person just to come look at the first room microwave nor was I even offered a suite for having to switch so many rooms. My Ac unit stopped working in the middle of the night in the 3rd room i was in Would not recommend this hotel. What's even worse is my husband stayed at this hotel a week prior and only got a suite room due to being a rewards member. My company is not an rewards member and yet get treated poorly. No help on switching rooms 3 times. And it the misk of changing rooms 3 times I accidentally left my watch charger plugged into the outlet in my first room and asked multiple times if it was turned in and of course it was NOT!
Update: I went back to my 3rd room during lunch to find water leaking from the ceiling. I called down and they said they would send maintenance person up. The guy got there and looked and said im sorry but we have to switch you rooms. I told him if I switch rooms, that it would be the 4th room I've had in 2 days. He was very sorry that i had to go thru this and he actually helped me pack up my stuff and helped moved to my new room and said ill make sure that you dont have to switch rooms again for your stay. I also told him about my watch charger and he said he actually did still see it plugged into the outlet in my original room the next day to go look at the microwave in my first room so it should have been turned into the front desk by the maids. Nope! I'm very positive that whoever cleaned my room took my charger for their own...
