This was the worst Holiday Inn Express location I've stayed. Online, they boast "Newly Renovated". If so, it was done as cheaply as possible! I was in room 208. The wall on the left side of the mirror didn't finish getting painted. There is a brown stain on the tile in the shower. The carpet already had cigarette holes burned in it. This "newly renovated" bathroom had the loudest exhaust fan I've ever heard. It was like trying to shower on the tarmac of the airport!
Housekeeping did not prep the room. In the shower, there are bottles of shampoo, body wash, and conditioner. 2 of the 3 were empty/not functioning for our stay. There was a small bottle of lotion on the counter. Yet it was half used!!! In these times of Covid, this is not sanitary nor acceptable.
Saturday morning, we arrived at breakfast just after 9 AM. Breakfast was scheduled to 10 AM. Yet they were out of ALL hot items and only had a few cereal options. So, you can have a complimentary breakfast...IF you only want bread or Special K. The employee serving the breakfast also was NOT using gloves as she was handling and distributing the food.
I went to offer my feedback to the manager. There were 3 employees sitting behind the front desk chatting with one another. When I asked if I could speak to a manager, the response was a flat - there isn't one here. No offer of, "But how may I assist you?" "Is there anything I can help you with?" or "Here is the manager's business card, S/He will be back on Monday."
This experience demonstrated that the management of this facility has failed to train employees to appropriately interact with guests. They have failed to train cleaning staff on Covid protocols AND how to set a room up for the next guest. They have failed to manage breakfast inventory for weekends. And finally, the management did a very suspect job in renovating the facility, obviously buying budget accessories and being incomplete on the labor.
When I choose IHG hotels, I have an expectation of what I am getting/paying for. This experience has caused me to question that base assumption. My hope is that this can be rectified so others do not generate...
Read moreThe property manager Sheila, and front desk clerk Molly were very helpful upon check-in, as we encountered a few unexpected items, but that was resolved almost immediately. I appreciated their willingness to come up with a workable solution. The hotel itself was clean, and well maintained. The decor was modern and very welcoming.
The morning breakfast buffet was setup and maintained each morning by the friendly attendants... and it offered something for everyone - hot foods, cold cereals, cinnamon rolls, yogurts, juices, milk and coffee, bagels/toast- everyone in my party was happy with it!. The breakfast area was spacious and had different seating arrangements which made it nice for different size parties. There was a tv so you could catch up on news highlights.
Our room worked out perfectly for 3 adults. Our suite had a bedroom with a king bed and tv, and then the main part of the room had 2 more king beds. There was a desk area with task light with was great. We also had a counter area with the microwave, small fridge and coffee maker - since we were staying for the week, we were able to pick up grocery/snack items at the Walmart (across the street) and have a place to put everything.
The bathroom was very functional, as the toilet/shower were separate from the sink/counter space, so everyone could get ready.
The only things that were missing - there was no closet rod installed to hang up clothes (and no closet door), and there was not full length mirror (no other mirror other that the bathroom counter at the sink). These were not game-changers, just minor inconveniences.
I would stay at this property again if I were in the area (and probably will be back...
Read moreWe have stayed at this HIE numerous times in the past few years. While we have always been pleased, this time there were a few minor issues. The wall next to the bathtub in our room has peeled away toward the bottom. While not a big deal, it is unsightly. One of the covers for the screws on the back of the toilet was raised when we checked in and wouldn't stay down. Again, not a big deal but unsightly and annoying.
If there isn't a standard procedure for checking the rooms for maintenance issues, there should be.
The place was filled to capacity the night we were there, and as usual with most of the HIE, the dining room was completely inadequate to handle the breakfast crowd. My father and husband took their food to the lobby, as there were no tables available. After they had settled in, relatively speaking, they were approached by a staff
member who told them they could eat in the conference room. They declined, since it would be a lot of trouble to pick up their meal again and leave. There should be a sign directing guests to the conference room on mornings when the dining area can't handle everyone.
The front desk did not have a bell at the counter and there was no staff member in sight. She was in a room
adjacent to the front desk and she did see me shortly after I approached. it could have been frustrating.
The staff in both the breakfast area and front desk were very courteous, and the issues I have mentioned don't reflect on the general staff. They are management issues that should be addressed to maintain HIE high standards for...
