I'm not sure if there was just isn't enough training that happens, or something else, but our server was point blank not a good server. We couldn't say anything until he had his order pad and pencil out, and if we did jump the gun and start saying what we wanted he would pause and ask, "What was that again?" and we'd repeat ourselves.
I went out with some family, and my stepdad and I ordered beers and my mom ordered a Bloody Mary. I was asked for my ID, okay no problem, but then later in the meal the server tells me he's going to get me a wristband. My family and I thought oh it must be a shift change so the next server would know not to card me again. No, our server was the same the entire night and I still don't understand why he wanted me to wear a wristband unless he felt he himself was going to forget within that short amount of time that I was over 21.
We only ordered appetizers for our meal, and my bavarian pretzels arrived with no salt whereas the picture in the menu had salt. I wasn't asked when I ordered if I wanted salt or not, but with the server we had I didn't feel like causing a fuss and requesting any. My mom however had to keep asking for ranch with her onion rings because our server came back to ask how everything was looking twice, and then we finally got the ranch after the second time asking. My stepdad ordered the nachos and said the chicken wasn't seasoned/bland, and could go anywhere else advertising bar food for that level of quality of food.
We played a handful of games of Keno, and our drinks were soon empty. I watched out server walk past several times without checking on us, without even glancing at our table to see if we needed anything. My stepdad's beer was empty for at least ten minutes, which is bizarre when most restaurants will have servers asking you if you want a refill when you're cup is just under half because they want to keep you happy. Thankfully a more seasoned waitress saw us looking around for our server and asked what we needed (I give her 5 stars on her own for noticing us when she didn't have to). She relayed that message to our original server and he brought out drinks. He did mix up the beers between my stepdad and I, but it shouldn't take another person on the waitstaff to get us what we need because you still haven't grasped being able to juggle multiple tables or noticing when someone's glass is empty.
There were things I liked about this restaurant. I like how all the booths have their own TVs since the focus is on Keno, but you can switch to other channels if you want. I saw other employees sweeping and doing other upkeep to keep the place looking nice, and there were always one or two people at the front desk to welcome in new folks coming in to eat. Despite that, it was a disappointing dinner experience all around, and I hope that more training happens to prepare newer or not as confidant wait staff with Friday and Saturday night busy times. I wouldn't mind giving the food another chance, but not if the service is as...
Read moreTo Start I'll just say simply, the Food is fantastic, the prices are reasonable & the atmosphere is not overwhelming. I would have to say that their typically pretty busy, so I would suggest you get there early, before 5pm at least. However having said that we've really never had to wait for a table very long.
This place is pretty much a Sports 'Bar', with lots of TV's all over the place, they have Keno for those who want to wager a little cash, etc. But it just doesn't have that 'Bar' feel, it does have a very Restaurant vibe to it, no loud music or dim lights or drunk people stumbling around. Besides the Restaurant feel it also has a somewhat family feel to it without being a 'Family' Restaurant. Your not going to have to sit next to a Family with the typical 'Screaming Kid', Scenario, but you might see a few younger kids around, at least early.
This is a nice place to get a good meal, the staff is very friendly and helpful, you wouldn't have to wait until the end of your meal to get your Ice Tea refilled. They do a great job. Their menu has pretty good variety with Burgers, Wraps, Steak and a couple of Sea food selections. They also have a large selection of appetizers and such.
Overall, between the two locations I believe that this one, the Southeast location, is a little more comfortable and has a more laid back atmosphere. However the West location is just as good, it just seems to have a more Sports Bar feel to it. Again the Food is very good, the staff is very attentive, it has a good atmosphere. I highly recommend you to at least give it a try, I don't think that you'll be disappointed.
For those who have seen this review I apologize for the Four star rating I don't know how that happened Big Red is absolutely a Five...
Read moreMy husband was happy with all of the tv's tuned to sports, and I enjoyed a quick, inexpensive game of Keno. Prices were reasonable.
Our waitress was Lindsey. She always had a smile and answered all of my questions kindly. (She even went to make sure the lemon-berry cake was moist before I ordered it) that's above and beyond on my book. My cash tip reflected that. She anticipated our needs and didn't bother us unless she thought we needed something (refill, check, and make sure our food was good). She really should be recognized for this. It is so hard to find employees like this, and I happened to find 2 during this overnight visit in Lincoln, NE.
My club sandwich was fine but my sweet potato tots were delicious. Cooked just right. First time I have had them. My husband had roast beef dinner, which was very good. Veggies cooked just right. Portions were plentiful, and taste was great. I do recommend the lemon berry cake. Very moist, great flavor, and not super sweet.
If I had to pick a negative it would be the carpet floors. And that's really looking for sonething. I would...
