I have changed the rating from a one star to a 3 but I would probably really do a 2.5, only because the staff was very nice and professional.

This review is just from our first night stay. We checked in too late I guess because there wasn't any bellhop service. While we were trying to unwind last night I went to get ice just to find out that the ice machine wasn't working for our building. We were told that we could go to another building to get ice when we needed. To be fair, they did bring us our first bucket of ice then proceeded t tell me that. Another issue we didn't notice when we first got to our room was the ceiling was poorly repaired from a leak on the roof. When I showered this morning I noticed hair on the shower walls from the previous tenants. Missing details like that shows that very little care is taken while cleaning the rooms. As soon as I get back from some appointments today I will see what they are going to do to correct these issues. At this point I'm not too impressed when we spent 2k for a week here. The pictures only show the ceiling and the shower walls at this point. I will add more when I get the chance.

Update: Since being here, we have noticed many other issues... Let's start with the mattress, it is well used and sags in the middle, we find ourselves being pulled to the center as we sleep during the night. Pictures are added to support this. The master bathroom door will not lock no matter what we tried, so to ensure privacy we have to let each other know not to come in while we are in a compromised position. Another issue in the bathroom involves the bath tub, I was very sore and wanted to take a hot bath with some epsome salt this evening, but when I went to start the bath there was no way to plug the bath with either a rubber plug or a mechanical lever to stop the water from going down the drain. So unfortunately, I didn't get to relax like I wanted to. There is a big security issue with the balcony door because the door latch doesn't lock and neither does the dead bolt. They put a flimsy chain lock on the door but that doesn't keep the door closed. The furniture in the living is definitely worn and very uncomfortable. It isn't something you want to relax on. At this point I will never come here again and I would discourage others from going or at least check out the room thoroughly before committing to staying. This is absolutely ridiculous. I do understand that these rooms are old but the money they charge, you'd expect that the easy stuff would be renovated such as carpet, furniture, mattresses, doors and door latches. There are small windows that you can't black out if you want to sleep in, and curtains that you need to figure a way to keep them fully closed to black out your room if you want. I do have to say that the security guards have been very helpful because they are now security guards as well as bellhops and other jobs. These rooms while large, remind me of something just above motel 6 quality rooms. Definitely overpriced and over rated. I have not had the time to explore the grounds or play a round of golf but I will update again when I can experience the rest of the resort. On the positive side, the front desk did comp the resort fees and they offered to clean the room daily instead of every 4th day. Overall, the room was not as clean as we expected and we were disappointed with our first impression.

Next update: The grounds are nice and the pools are big with some nice features. I did not make it out on the golf course unfortunately but it did look nice from what I have seen.

Final update: Besides all the issues that we've encountered, the staff and management were professional, helpful, courteous, and kind. I have to say that they did strive to correct the issues and I am grateful for their attitude and willingness in dealing with these issues. We did come to an agreement and we are satisfied with the end result. Thank you all and especially Tom to listening to our concerns and addressing...

I booked two 2 day stays here on their resident rate for the summer. I had to keep both reservations because they are non-refundable. I made two reservations based on the reputation of this place and truly wanted to love it because of its proximity. I'll start with the good. This place is gorgeous. The lobby is beautiful, the grounds are lush. The rooms were clean. Every service person we encountered was genuinely nice and interested in making sure we had a good time. Any stars I give this place belong to the people that work there and interface directly with a guest. Not the managers. (We ran into a couple of those on our first stay at breakfast. Fake and insincere would probably be a compliment.)

On our first morning we were awoken at 7:00 a.m. by landscapers. My husband and I are AZ residents and understand the importance of getting hard work done early in the desert. So we rolled with it and went to the pool with plans of a nap later. When we came back at 10:30 the noise was even louder and there were more landscapers. I called the front desk and was told that they would be in the area until 2:00 p.m. This was explained to me as though it was the most normal thing in the world for me to have to listen to 7 hours of landscaping noise after having paid for a room at a place claiming to be a luxury resort. I understand the work has to be done, but I stay in a place in Scottsdale with almost exactly the same landscaping. In the 14 years I've stayed there I've never heard a leaf blower. Proper planning and some consideration towards the guest could prevent this from happening. Also on the first trip we could not get a decent meal from The Wigwam Bar. On the first day we ordered the goat cheese chorizo Fundido and it arrived literally chewy, it had obviously been sitting around for a very long time. A lump of chewy cheese that you couldn't dip a chip in. The chips were so greasy I couldn't eat them because they had probably been double fried. We gave it a second chance the next morning at breakfast, not wanting to jump to conclusions. Breakfast tasted like old grease. It was in everything we ordered.

2nd trip a month later. It was hotter. We got to our room and it seemed cool at first. I unpacked everything and then realized it was hot in the room. I gave it a pass because it was 117° outside, but the room was very uncomfortable. It cooled down enough to sleep overnight. The next morning the room started to be hot around 11:00 a.m. (at that point it was only a little over a hundred outside) so we went to the lobby and hung out there which was cooler and beautiful. The room stayed uncomfortable until after the sun went down.

The towels at the pool during the summer are literally ratty, rough and greyed from use. I brought my own towels on the second trip.

On the second trip we were placed in a room that was directly in front of an area that they were remodeling. So if I opened the back door it smelled like gasoline from a motor that was running and it was noisy. I could have easily been placed in the room we had been in on the previous trip which was not across from that mess because it was clearly empty. Most of the rooms in the area were empty.

I get the distinct impression that the people that manage this place want to collect money from locals for the summer but they don't really want to put forth any effort. I really, really wanted this place to work out because it's closer to my home than Scottsdale, and even though it's more expensive than the place I normally do Staycations, I'd happily pay it if it was worth it. They have a fantastic staff that is genuinely friendly, but they clearly have a management issue and they don't seem interested in spending the time to manage things so that guests have a nice stay. This place is definitely not worth the cost, even...

I checked into the wigwam after a terrible airbnb situation. After 6 Hours dealing with it, I was exhausted at almost midnight when I arrived to the Wigwam and was greeted by Jadyn. I couldn’t help but to unload as I checked in at how terrible my other experience was and how they treated me. Jadyn listened and for the first time that day/night I had felt welcome and in a safe place. She made sure to get us into a comfortable room and had Nathaniel assist us in getting settled in. Nathaniel was so empathetic and calming in bringing in everything we needed. I felt like I was asking so much in the middle of the night and no ask was to big even sharing his personal waters with me. I felt like Jadyn stayed up with me as I phoned her a few times through the night when I realized that I needed to extend the stay as my original trip was 5 nights. She made me feel like she was a friend that cared about me and its because she did care. I rested my head that night in the most beautiful room feeling supported by really awesome humans. I have always loved the wigwam but an employee like Jadyn doesn’t come along often and as fate would have it that was her first night back working the night shift and I truly needed her after my prior ordeal. She was the face of the establishment and represented them 20/10. Her and Nathaniel both continued to check in on me and do kind things for me specifically stating that they wanted me to get the welcome that the airbnb didn’t give me, its a long story but I needed their support more than I knew. My children had the best time with her surprises and we were having so much fun that I stopped in late to extend the stay, AGAIN! If it wasn’t for Jadyn I would have likely booked another airbnb simply for space reasons but the wigwam had me extend 3 times because of her. Don’t get me wrong everything there is excellent but I was sticking around because I felt so loved and safe. I wanted to point out Hayley at the wigwam bar who knew I wasn’t able to come to the bar and leave my kids alone and she pulled a few strings to get me the most delicious deserts and a well deserved margarita, Hayley, thank you! I never got to thank you but it meant so much to me. Please never change, Jadyn, Nathaniel & Hayley. Oh, and Chris too. Such a poised, kind, and sweet cabana guy who even ran and grabbed me an iced coffee from Starbucks when he was already off when I could have easily walked over there myself, but nope, iced coffee, wigwam pool, new friends, and core memories made. If you aren’t happy at the wigwam you aren’t at the wigwam because they make sure happiness is standard on every visit. I miss you...
