I made a return visit to the Best Western in Lockhart and wondered if this time would be as good as my last visit. It wasn't... it was even better. It was nice seeing MJ at the check in desk. While she may not have remembered my name, she recognized my face. I was listed in their computer as a VIP, someone who took the time to write a review and talk to the owner. MJ made check in a breeze. In barely a minute she was handing me my room key and assuring me that I was on the quiet side so I could get a good night's sleep. We discussed places to eat dinner and she gave me her recommendation. Then I went to drop my things off at my room. This room seemed bigger than the last time and was quiet as promised. After getting settled I stopped by the desk to thank MJ for her suggestion for dinner... Henry's Diner, 5 minutes down the road. MJ mentioned that she called ahead and told them she was sending a customer and to take good care of me. That small gesture made me feel very special... Henry's Diner was very quaint with big portions and good food. My server was April and she was friendly and helpful with a big smile. I ate a steak that was cooked perfectly medium rare, sweet potato fries, okra and lemon meringue pie. With a good tip I came in just under $25 and was full. When I returned to the hotel, MJ checked to be sure I was happy with dinner at Henry's. I was abs thanked her for the good suggestion. I slept well in my quiet room. When I went downstairs, MJ was still on the desk and had me checked out in a minute. She printed out a receipt along with my reward number and the phone number to the rewards department so I could double check that I was receiving the latest promotions. These were all small things that took barely a minute, but reinforced my feeling that I was in good hands with MJ and the Best Western Hotel in Lockhart. Whenever I'm in the neighborhood, it's the only place I will stay. MJ cared about my experience and did everything possible to make sure it was a great one, which it was! She's the reason my stay was great and I'll keep...
Read moreMy fiancé flew in from out of state to meet me for the very first time. Our first room would not stay locked shut. I went to deal with the very nice lady at the counter who promptly upgraded up to a very nice suite…so all is looking good right! Later that night our neighbors are so loud it literally wakes me up from sleep. I reach over to get my phone and crack my forehead on the side table. Needless to say blood was leaking unbeknown to me. Long story short, I check out and everything went well. Two days later I’m looking at my bank account and I noticed that I have an extra charge of $100. I called up there and the guy tells me that due to a noise, complaint and blood on the sheets they had to charge me $100. No one ever discussed any of this with me. They just charge my card without asking me anything. Worst place to go in Lockhart hands-down. Go to the local state parks and stay at a cabin for $10 more and enjoy your vacation in paradise. If I could have rated this place less than 1 star I would have. You see this place, RUN!!!
Update 1/8/25 Checked my bank account again today and found that they hit me again for the extra hundred dollar charge and another charge for a room stay after I paid the initial charge of $374. They tried to run it back and hit me for an additional $250. I contacted the location again and spoke to the same guy I spoke to yesterday explaining the situation and he tried to tell me that those additional charges were included with the first charges, making it sound as if it’s all part of the same thing. I contacted my bank and went over all the pending activity and they did confirm that they made an unauthorized charge to my account of $250…..theft of service. Fortunately, I bank with Frost, who happens to be a Texas bank, and they promptly canceled my debit card and refunded the extra charges. Please stay away...

When we arrived, we were very happy with the location. We are right in the heart of downtown Lockhart, TX. We walked up to the front desk and we're waiting for a staff member to check us in. We waited about five minutes before I realized she was sitting down and ignoring us. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt that she didn't see or hear us over her TV show that she was watching.
We checked in without any issues.
Then, we went to dinner and came back. My coworker's room A/C did not work and he found hairs on his bed. He asked the front desk for new sheets and told her about the air conditioning not working. She offered him a fan. He said he wanted A/C and she told him that he could check out if he wanted. Excuse me. What?!?
My room was also dirty. I booked a kitchenette so that I could cook some food. There are no plates, no silverware, no pots or pans. They just have a dirty stovetop that has never been cleaned. See photos.
The walls of the room are very thin. There was a party going on next door to my room and I called the front desk at 11:45pm to see what she could do. She said she called them. Five minutes later, the music got louder and the guests started banging on the wall. I called back down to the front desk and she said there was nothing he could do. She suggested I call the police. Excuse me. What!?! This is not the job of the Lockhart Police. This is her job to figure it out.
All in all, we paid $142 per room that had no amenities and were dirty. This is a bad excuse for a Best...
