STAY FAR AWAY!! After reading reviews (inaccurate) about the hotel, including ensuring they have a standard cancellation policy, I used my usual Government travel agency to book five rooms there. We arrived that evening, only to find the manager demanding we sign, in 8 places, a non-refundable waiver and requiring payment in advance for the entire two week stay! When we protested, she said she couldn't check us in unless we signed the waiver, period. After traveling for over 10 hours, with an outside temperature of 12 degrees and this being one of only two hotels in Los Alamos, we were forced to sign the waiver. Once we got in the hotel, we found that the furnishings were broken and worn out, and certainly NOT up to the usual standards of a Wyndham hotel. That's when we found out that it was, until a month or so before, a worn-out [discount cut-rate hotel]. Sorry, but a new coat of paint does NOT hide that it was a cheap, broken old hotel just shortly before. We tried talking to Wyndham corporate (foolishly thinking they may care about their reputation in a small Government town) but they deferred to the manager's policy and said their hands were tied. ||||Bottom Line: Stay away from this shady worn out hotel and its manager's shady, predatory cancellation policies. And I'd just stay away from Wyndham hotels entirely, based on...
Read moreOur stay at Wingate by Wyndham in Los Alamos, NM was an absolute dream. Every single one of the General Managers/Desk Clerks were cheerful, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to make our stay great! The elevator was not working upon our arrival so Sonia made sure to give us a room on the first floor. She made sure we knew which local restaurants were open on the weekend (a real problem in Los Alamos is the dirth of restaurants on the weekends). The common areas of the hotel were immaculate. We would often see the Desk Clerk wiping down counters or furniture or sweeping the hallway floor. The breakfast area was also kept very clean. One negative is that they do not have a hot water spigot/coffee machine. The worker responsible for our first breakfast revealed that the hot water in the carafe was just hot water out of the sink faucet! They had two waffle irons and a rolling toaster. Hot foods were scrambled eggs and sausage patties, which were actually very good, but limited. Their scrambled eggs were the best we have had on our travels. The green chile sauce is also always available. Our shower had very good water pressure, easy controls, a non-slip mat, and very soft towels. The bed was very comfortable. All in all this was the best hotel stay we have had in...
