Came in here a few weeks ago. Got a fruit tart and some macarons, along with a cappuccino. Cappuccino was over pulled and burnt, and the milk was steamed at an incorrect consistency so it was literally foam.
To be fair (and I know I sound pretentious), no one in this town knows how to make a proper cappuccino. I'm willing to overlook it, since coffee is coffee in the end. That said, I'd rather go to Starbucks.
The tart, however, was incredibly under-baked and bland. The crème pat was gooey, and not in a good way. It was stodgy and definitely a day or two old. Fruits were not glazed (which is a basic of any place that claims to serve 'high end' desserts at this price).
Macarons were decent, but honestly a little expensive, even compared to regular city prices. The vibe here is cute, but they clearly spent more time on décor than their bakes. Unfortunate, since I was looking forward to this place opening (Pig & Fig...
Read moreAn adorable little place. It's been years since I been back in Los Alamos. I was nearby so the kids and I drove up to visit old friends/coworker who live in town. This is new, spacious cafe with a wonderful selections of baked goods, drinks, gelatos, etc. Everything I bought and ordered were delicious. The croissant was flaky and tasty. Very reasonably priced. The drink took awhile to come out and I ordered a cupcake for my 5 years old that they didn't do pack away...when we came back mentioned it, they gave us the cupcake. There is a little patio that you can sit outside as well; plenty of customer with dogs sitting outside. Drinks were good as well; I got a chilled chai latte. Would recommend and will come back if I am in the area. Plenty of parking. I gave it a four stars for missing the cupcake and the drinks took a very long time to come out. I had to get up...
Read moreIMO, worst coffee shop in town, in terms of competence of staff (everyone who works here is a school kid, so the real question is what can you expect? Ex: when I asked what is a machiatto last time, the young girl had to look at the cheat sheet (it's written on the wall) even though she makes the drinks). What you get (size) for what you pay for is also the worst in town. They have messed up by drink twice and once charged me more for a pastry, but the young lady just said sorry.... Do yourself a favour and go to a coffee shop on a street parallel to this one: MUCH better quality coffee and the size of servings. This place is on central street, thus the price, quality and competence, all of which leave a lot...
