After spending five days at EC Motel, I am shocked by the negative reviews. First, this is obviously a budget hotel. It looks seedy from the outside, and the building itself is old. With that said, my companion and I were greeted by a very friendly staff member as we pulled into the parking lot. The property is fenced in, and reasonably secure. The desk staff were very friendly and accommodating, bridging two reservations seamlessly so I wouldn't have to check out and back in again after extending my stay online. The room itself was impeccable. The bathroom fixtures, bed, refrigerator, microwave, and television were all brand new. Although my companion and I declined housekeeping services for the duration of our stay, I actually saw housekeepers turning mattresses in other rooms and vacuuming the beds themselves in between guests. There is NOTHING unclean about this property! To be fair, the desk and hutch in the room were old, and this was a smoking room. This was made clear to me at the time that the reservation was made, and the desk clerk mentioned it again at check in, apologetically confirming that this was ok before giving us our key. As to the review stating that the "chinese old man" was hard to understand... wow. I have to assume that the gentleman I met was who they meant, but I understood him perfectly well. Furthermore, he understood my french accent perfectly, and my companion's Spanish accent just fine. Sometimes people in diverse cities are bilingual. Don't take it personally that they (we) speak a second language! Finally, I want to mention that EC Motel is less than two miles from Exposition Park. We stayed here during the FYF Music Festival. Many of the people staying at this hotel were festival goers, but we didn't hear a peep from anyone or anything during the entire stay. Our room was quiet, security greeted us every time we came and went, and we were relieved to lie in our clean, quiet, comfortable bed every evening. The room rate was VERY affordable for an event weekend -- well under half what any other local hotel was charging -- and we were walking distance from the big event. On the nights that we danced enough to want Uber, we paid $2 - $6 per ride. It isn't a glamorous property, but I would stay here again in a...
Read moreFirst off, most of the information you have on Travelocity website is in contrast to when you stay here.
Second, i had to pay for parking! No where on the hotel information did it state that! Also it states a $150 deposit. There was no $150 deposit. I was charge $100 and $10 on my credit card, and the $100 was refunded to me! That is NOT a deposit!! Using a "post-it" note and sticking it on the window counter seems to allow this business commit fraud!
Third, it says on the side of the building, "NEW ROOMS" and that they have "DTV". The rooms are NOT new! In fact the i could NOT deadbolt the door closed! I will repeat, i physically could not deadbolt the door because the door strike plate was moved from the door frame being damaged, I had to rely on the little chain that hangs on the door for "SECURITY". Even when i ask about it, not only there was nothing they could do, but that is the room i have to stay in. Also, there is NO "DTV". Last i check spectrum is not DTV. I state this because they lie, and in turn you allow this lie to happen because you, travelocity, do not do any investigations to in fact truly take care of your customers! You literally put me in an hotel that was unsafe!!!
Fourth, "NEW ROOMS" should have "NEW WINDOWS" along with it. The front window i had to use a piece of wood to "LOCK" the window in place, otherwise it opens freely to the outside public. The bathroom window does NOT close properly. Not only allowing a "COLD BREEZE" inside, and of course it rained, so rain water also came inside the bathroom. Waking up with the heater on that had NO control for the temp, just blowing hot air out, it does not reach the bathroom that is "FREEZING COLD!!" There was not HOT water. I am not kidding, NO HOT WATER!! It was "LUKE WARM", and the water pressure was lacking of.
Fifth, there hours of operation is 1p-10p, at least that is what it says on their door. Only ONE cleaning girl is on the property for the time of check out. YES, I COULD NOT TALK TO ANYONE!! BECAUSE THEY MANIPULATE YOU TO ALLOW TO MANIPULATE YOUR CUSTOMERS!!
I EXPECT A FULL REFUND!!! SINCE THEIR HOURS OF OPERATION FALLS OUT OF THE CHECK OUT TIME! WHAT SERVICE WILL NOT BE ON SITE WHEN PEOPLE NEED TO CHECK OUT!?! HOW DO YOU KNOW I CHECK OUT!?!??? NO...

Where do I start...firstly, let me make this clear: I didn't stat here in the end. Why? To start: the pictures are decieving. This hotel is situated in a neighborhood where every shop and house has bars on the windows and grafitti galore. The streets are crawling with homeless, there's nothing within walking distance that I'd feel safe going to. There is no front to this hotel, the first thing you see is the courtyard (which you have to go around back to get to) which was overgrown with weeds. The parking lot that is connected to it is fenced in, the fence is topped with razor wire, and the gate closes at a certain time every night. The people from the neighboring apartments were playing in the parking lot, which didn't make me feel any safer with leaving my car there. I could see the pool was dried up and left open, there were old AC swamp coolers in the windows, clothes hung out to dry here and there...literally looked more like old apartments rather than a motel...the "office" was dirty, covered in old posters, sickers, peeling paint with bars on the window...
Now I've stayed in some shady places. I'm usually laid back--a bed is a bed. But I felt really unsafe here during the day--what's it like at night??? There's been no visible attempt at upkeep or maintenance, so I wasn't willing to wait to see what the rooms looked like. Save yourself the stress--book...
