Empire Inn LAX — Hotel in Los Angeles

When we started this review, we were torn between a 2 or 3 star rating. After discussion, we've raised our rating to 4 stars. 1. This place is a gem... Considering the location. Tasked with finding a spot while the hubs navigated the lovely LA freeways and given an uncooperative device, we were both getting frustrated af. So... of course, I said "F--- it" and booked the closest cheap motel with good reviews... I probably forgot to check out the neighborhood. Whatev...It's not the 80s/90s anymore. Blink and you'll miss it. 2. Check-in/Checkout was simple, no issues. We felt our vehicle was moderately safe but we didn't leave anything in it. 3. The photos aren't lying but they aren't telling the whole story either. The room appeared clean, smelled good but not too perfume-y, no mold or mildew, and NO carpet which was its saving grace. The walls, doors, light switches, headboard-- nasty. Nothing Lysol wipes didn't take care of. Bedding was questionable...we used our own blanket. 4. It was quiet. We slept well. Shower was hot. Overall, not bad for a cheap motel near Florence...

I came for 3 night if Billie Eilish, just 4 nights to put my stuff, because I planned on camping on the sidewalk. Anyways, did that it was too cold. So I’ve been sleeping here. Room had just gotten cleaned and he asked the cleaning lady who was in front on me, she said she just finished.

Does smell like cigarettes, but i couldnt smell it after a couple hours. Weed smelling inside and out. Towels looked and felt clean, bathroom was clean. Orange tape over a drain thing in the tub?

Linens are cheap, I honestly didnt look at them because the first time sleeping was after a loooong concert day at 1am. So ive been sleeping under them and idk what they look like. Other than that its nice. Wood floors. There’s a sign that says room cleaning service is required. And no one has cleaned my room. There was a spider on my towel night here. I had to kill it😣

night 4 — theres a shooting in the entrance. 4 people shot. I was at the concert when it happened, but the police were here and had to walk me thru the other gate to my room. Kinda...

If I could give a negative 10 I would. Booked online provided a credit card number got a receipt and reservation number. Went to check in and were told to find our reservation number on a paper by the guy at the front desk through the glass... Showed the email and confirmation number to him and he said we did not have a room. Provided receipt sent to me showing amount paid and were told we could not check in and to come back tomorrow. The room was a one night stay. The guy at the front desk told us to leave. Completely useless staff asked to speak to someone else who could help and were told to call in the morning. We had to go look for another hotel last minute. Will be looking to dispute the charge with my credit card company because trying to deal with this hotel...
