I recently stayed here with my partner when we were visiting LA on vacation. Aside from some minor maintenance concerns, I have nothing bad to say about the hotel. The location was great, the service was above average, and the price was unbeatable. The owner was incredibly nice and went out of his way to greet us if he was near the front desk when we were passing through. The housekeeping service was fine. Nothing to write home about, but no complaints, either. The noise level was acceptable. I've been in hotels with thicker walls, but we were able to sleep just fine, and that's all that matters. There is free wifi, and it's not super fast, but for the price, I'm not complaining. The free shampoo/conditioner bottles are not worth your time to try and use - just go to the convenience store downstairs and get some better ones.

This place was cool! Older building and a little worn but way cool. Right in Chinatown, the area looks a little rough but I didn't have any problems. The view was pretty cool, not great. Decent room with solid wood doors, the street noise was a bit much. The bed was comfy though and I slept like a log. Regular checkout is noon and there's a small but free breakfast. There was a small problem with the shower control but no big deal. The room and hall was clean and stocked. Free WiFi! I enjoyed the place overall.

This hotel is for Dodgers fan. Very close to Union Station. For those who don’t drive, it’s very convenient. You can get on Dodgers express free bus on the game day from Union station - room is quite spacy- it’s just that it’s an old facility and the room smell weed. Floor and room were a bit smelly but other than that, it’s reasonably priced and The Phillips Original sandwich store is very close so we went there for breakfast and dinner.

Metro Plaza is in perfect, easy walking distance location for Old LA Olvera Street (don’t miss the Avila Adobe), Philippe’s famous restaurant, and Union Station. It was ok for a one-night stay. I hope the review below gives an idea of what to expect.||I felt safe walking around in the day, but. fwould not walk here after dark. ||Half of the hotel is recently renovated with new corridor carpet and modern rooms. ||Front desk people, including manager, are excellent and helpful. Despite being busy with several foreign tour groups, the staff remained patient and gracious.| |Lobby is very basic, with nowhere to sit. There’s a big screen of security camera views, and a security guard by the elevator, but axcard key is not required to open the elevator door. this might be a good safety, security measure— seen in many big-city hotels— for this hotel to add||A week before arriving, I spoke with the manager, requested a recently renovated room, and got one. But the window looked out to a barbed-wire topped wall! I asked if possible to switch to a room facing the beautiful old post office and Union Station, but the receptionist said the hotel was full, with the one available room reeked of cigarette smoke, despite the hotel following “no smoking” policy!||My room was large, bed was comfortable. There’s a large TV, mini fridge but no microwave. There’s a very large desk/shelf area and two hammocks to sit on. The bathroom was newly renovated, with an oddly placed rain- shower in the center of the shower-enclosure ceiling rather than the wall, which made it impossible to escape getting drenched hair. Unless you want a shampoo, bring a shower cap. The water temperature control faucet in the shower starts hot in “on” vertical position, and gets colder as you turn it to the left, which you can do only to 1/4 turn— different from standard shower controls.||Bath towels were small, thin and scratchy—I suspect to avoid any temptation for towel thieves. Likewise, there’s an in-room ironing board, but no iron. For that, you go to the lobby and give your drivers license or cash deposit and borrow an iron.||If I again had a morning Amtrak train to board, I’d stay at Metro Plaza knowing its quirks and...

I only booked this place as it was near Union Station and I had an early train the next day. I didn't expect much for the price, but the reality was far worse than I imagined.|Getting into the hotel was a challenge in itself as the automatic door was stuck and I had to stand there for 5 minutes until someone let me in.|Check in was fine, the staff member was friendly enough. The lobby isn't particularly welcoming. Just a desk with lots of signs up- you can tell a lot about a place by the amount of poorly worded laminated signs dotted around!|My room was on the 4th floor and the corridors leading from the elevators were very tired and in dire need of an update.|My room echoed these sentiments. Dark patterned carpets which had years worth of marks on them, the bed was extremely hard and had a dark flowery quilt that even my grandparents would have thrown out several decades ago. There was little natural light, few plug sockets and to get to those I had to move the bedside tables revealing an awful lot of dust.|The only decent bits of the room were the ensuites and the WiFi.|There's mention of breakfast on booking, but it didn't appear to exist and there was another of those laminated signs covering the one which detailed the breakfast times.|The hotel is in a good location for the station, Olvera Street and Philippe's, however the surrounding area is rather sketchy and didn't feel safe at night.|It probably goes without saying, I wouldn't return and would much rather stay a bit further away and grab an uber to the station if I ever need to catch a train from LA again and I'd recommend you...
