I checked in on Tuesday, the 26th, around 6:00 pm. The first room that I was given had an odor. I returned to the reception desk and the clerk changed my room immediately. She never questioned me and was very accommodating. I returned the keys to the first room and took the keys to the new room assigned to me. The next day, I come in from work, eat my dinner and go to bed. Around 10 pm, I was awakened by a man entering my room saying “hello!” I replied the same and he left. I thought to call downstairs but I figured they would work it out. About 5 minutes later the evening shift clerk, not the one who checked me in the previous day, is knocking at my door with the other customer, telling me that I needed to leave the room and come downstairs because I had “ walked into someone else’s room!” I told her that I had been here since the day before. She asked my name and I told her. Then she said she was not going to argue with me! I replied that I had been in the room since Tuesday and I entered with a key. I asked her “how do you think I got in here?”. She then said she wasn’t going to argue with me. I replied that that I am calling the police because instead of saying there’s been some type of mix up, she’s literally accusing me of trespassing! I got dressed, went downstairs and she’s on the phone with the manager telling the story to make it seem like I had wrongfully entered the room and she was not going to “put up with this” because I was in the background correcting what she was saying. I decided to go back to my room only to discover that my key had been disabled and I was locked out! I then went back downstairs and called the police. The other customer asked if I wanted him to wait with me and I replied yes and so he did. He had heard everything and had came back up to the room with the clerk when she accused me of walking into HIS room. This kind man had just checked in that night so he had NOT even been in the room! I was even more humiliated when the police arrived, took a look at me, then proceeded to talk to her! I called them, not her! This clerk had locked me out of my room with my possessions inside and told the police that her manager said to put me out! I prepaid for my room! The police had her to call her manager and they spoke to her for a while to resolve the issue. Seems she was determined to put me out and it was her clerk who likely on Tuesday, did not make the necessary changes in the system when my room was switched! Thus, a key for the room I was moved to was able to be given to another customer. The police took my key which the evening clerk disabled, so that she could reactivate it. I never got an apology, I have not slept well. I keep hearing that clerk say that she never had a conversation with me when it is clearly on camera that she came to my room, knocked on the door and told me I had to leave my room. It is also on camera that I came back upstairs and I was locked out! Unprofessional, unethical, illegal treatment! The other customer validated my frustration by stating to me “anyone would have reacted the same if this happened to them.” I have never experienced such degrading service at a hotel. I have prepaid for them to accuse me and now I feel unsafe for the remainder of my stay. I would not wish this experience on anyone. The police were not rude but they gave the clerk all of the time to talk, never spoke to the other customer who witnessed it all. This is a...
Read moreI Traveled over 180 miles from North Myrtle Beach To Lumberton trying to find a room for me and my wife for our anniversary. The only room we found wanted over $300 for one night stay!.
We also ran into a very nasty rain storm and hydroplaned my truck into the median to avoid a collision when the traffic suddenly came to a stop, causing some damage to my front end.
I decided to travel away from the beach and got more inland to find a room, and possibly an auto parts store and this hotel came up on my phone.
I went to the lobby and was greeted with a smile from the woman at the desk around 7pm.. I asked if there was a room available and she said YES!..
I asked her if there was a room away from noise and ground level, (I explained that I might have to work on my truck in the parking lot and asked if this was OK and she said that was not a problem) Another bonus.
What sealed the deal was the cost. I asked her how much for me and my wife and she said $99 a nite. I was so shocked I had to ask twice.
I paid for my room in cash and she took my info, gave me directions to the room and I was a happy camper.
When I got to the room from inside the hallway the first thing I noticed that all the doors are electronic key locked. I love that. Security is a major thing for me. (I have had horrible things occur at other hotel chains.)
My wife and I opened our room door and was stunned at how clean, simple, and roomy the room was! It came with a microwave, mini refrigerator, a flat panel TV with a remote, and a work desk.
The bed was king size and very soft. The sheets were clean scented and also very soft. It felt like a memory foam mattress. The ac was doing its job keeping the room nice and cool.
The bathroom was clean! I even got on my knees and checked under the counter, The towels are very large and also soft. I also discovered they were American made too. The bath was stocked with soap to bathe, shampoo, wash clothes, and plenty of hand towels . Ice bucked and cups highlighted the corner.
The complementary breakfast the next morning was also surprising, with hot food, plenty of beverages, cereals, waffles, cakes, bagels, toast to feed a good crowd. The lobby has a flat screen TV to watch FREE WiFi, laundry and a gym. There was also a pool outside but we were too tired to play in it.
Some have commented on the rooms being dated and maintenance is needed in some, I did notice that the tub needed to be re caulked, but for me that is OK.
Summary: I would recommend this hotel based on what is offered, the cleanliness of the room we were in,security of the hotel and the guest services we received.
For the cost of the other other hotel I could have gave I feel that I got the better bargain than that the hotel at the beach.
YES I highly...
Read moreWhile this facility carries the Marriott name, I've since learned that this is a franchise and does not even attempt to live up to the quality Marriott stands for or is known for. Upon arrival, the parking lot was dimly lit and not a single parking spot to park. Had to park next door and walk across a swampy median and hope our car would not be towed in the morning. Immediately upon walking to the lobby there were several unsavory people hanging around and inside the lobby. Once inside, the entire lobby and breakfast area had a heavy pot/weed smell. The lobby was run down and very dirty in addition to the smell. We received our room and proceeded to the elevator and were hit in the face with a stronger odor of marijuana! This continued once we got off and then even in our room. The hotel was so questionable that I felt the need to at least insure my sheets were clean as we were just there overnight. And another strike, in just the small area of where the pillows were, I found too many to count human hairs! The carpet in the room was disgustingly stained all over. The bathroom floor was dirty. There was some sort of dark matter on the lamp and also the wall. We picked up our things and went back down to the lobby, which still had a heavy smell of marijuana. The night person at the desk informed us that she was not authorized to refund our money but that the manager would be in the next day and would definitely be able to provide a refund given our experience. 4 days later the GM, Renee McCorkle refusing to speak to me and sent an email that she was refusing to refund our money bc we refused to accept an alternative room which I could not since having asthma and the whole building had the odor. Also to note, that the other doors into the building were not secured but propped open with no one monitoring them which is a safety violation. This location is poorly run and operated. The staff is poorly trained and from the top up, makes it a habit to lie and make up stories. As for Marriott Corporate, they state that they have nothing to do with franchised properties and they can be run and operated any way they wish despite having the Marriott name. Lumberton, NC Fairfield Inn could not provide me a place to park, a clean smoke free safe room but could certainly take my money for services they could not provide. Please...
