I was very disappointed with how the people in charge of the motel had treated my parents who had to evacuate from there home due to the flood in Sumas ,Wa The rooms they had paid for the prices changed daily they stayed 3 weeks and was not able to get any discounted rate for the 2 rooms .. One of the rooms the TV had only one working channel and the hot water never worked you couldn't even shower The old fashioned heaters were controlled by the people who ran the place ... This room was dirty and dust everywhere the room was anywhere from $90.00 to $100.00 per night for one person with one bed . The other room had 2 beds with 3 people and was a little newer looking then the other room at the rate of $100.00 to $125.00 a night I believe the overall cost for the 3 weeks were approx $3,000 total which they were paying $1,000 a week they wouldn't accept a check they had my parents go to there bank to get cash and bring it back to them . They had certain hours in which to get things like toilet paper which was given out on certain days and by a certain time or they were not allowed any which I think it was no later then by 4:30 PM but uncertain of which days it had to be on ... I however understand that it's not the owners fault for there home being damaged due to the flood but the way they were treated which I wont go into detail was totally wrong... they had asked about discounts but was told there is none then yet find out they were giving discounted rates because I had a friend call them and ask and they did have a discounted rate of $80.00 per day for a week , maybe it's because my parents are in there late 80's I really dont know but they ran out of money and had no choice but to move back into there home that is not even nearly liveable and they lost everything they owned besides the things they had when they...
Read moreIf the purpose of an inn is to provide a place to rest, then Windmill Inn failed miserably. When we arrived, our first impression was that it was slightly run down, and rather than being a convenient place to stay on your way to the border, it felt more like a low income trailer park.
When we got into our room, the first issue was obvious. Yes, there were two beds and a TV, but the layout of them made it next to impossible for the occupant(s) of the second bed to see the TV without laying at the opposite end of the bed. Furthermore, only the bed closer to the TV had a nightstand, requiring one of us to either be without our phone, or risk it on the bed overnight.
The TV, also, had issues, because the default input setting when you turned it on was not the setting that the cable went through, and there were no instructions on how to fix it.
Speaking of the beds, they were stiff and uncomfortable, and one of them had a large dip on one side. This, combined with the thin walls and dripping shower, contributed to the lack of rest achieved.
The temperature, as well, contributed to this. There were two space heaters in the room (one uncomfortably close to a bed, the other in the bathroom), with no way to control them. So the room started off cold, requiring the use of the blankets, but became warm overnight, necessitating the removal of said blankets.
The blankets and mattress weren't the only issues with the beds, the pillows were also incredibly flat. It would take at least 3 to match the thickness of my well-worn bed at home.
Finally, though we were told there was free wi-fi, both "guest" networks were locked, and the password we were given never worked.
I personally would never stay here again, and can only recommend it if you're desperate for a place...
Read moreWe booked last-minute when something fell through. The price was attractive to us. The room was clean enough. The bed was comfortable enough. The receptionist was friendly enough. Everything was pretty average for a privately owned hotel like this. But this place stuck in my mind as adorable and capable of such potential! The rooms were like tiny houses. Ours (#15) had a front door and a back door and we had openings to the outdoors on three sides (front window, side window and back door with a screen). The space wasn't furnished well; things were in awkward places and the pieces didn't fit. It was hard to lay in bed and see the TV. I wanted to rearrange the room and redecorate it to be as cute as it was in my mind. Sad. If I had the money and the desire, I would buy this place and make it adorable with lighter paint, furniture and Dutch features! There were wrapped toiletries and cups, but the cups cracked and fell apart as if they were old. There was a microwave and a fridge (and someone left a bag of shredded cheese...
