We arrived late at night with our teenage daughter after a long day of driving. Walking to the room we noticed the wall by the ice machine on the first floor. It was rotted and part of it was missing due to water leakage from the ice machine. The carpet in the halls were SO DIRTY!! Lots of debris and ground-in dirt. Not cleaned or vacuumed in a long time. The elevator was filthy also. The stainless surfaces in the elevator don't look like they ever get clean. It was just gross.||Now the room....oh it was BAD. Carpet filthy with ground-in stains. Stains on the chair in the room. Worst of all was the sofa sleeper mattress. I have included pictures. Mattress was torn and stained all over. SO GROSS!! No linens in the room for the sofa sleeper so my husband went to the front desk and obtained a blanket with a stain on it. (also shown in a photo)||Bathroom was not well-cleaned. There were stains in the sink that didn't come off. The blow dryer was missing and there were holes in the wall where it was supposed to be. Just so messy and uninviting.||Upon entering the hotel we failed to read the sign on the front door - probably because we were so tired. But it was from the Macedonia Fire Inspector. The hotel did not pass its fire inspection!!!!! WHAT!!?? How can they even stay open?? Parts of the fire suppression system were not functioning. And the pool was closed down due to safety issues - no locking doors to keep kids out. I wish I would have taken a photo of the signs on the door.||DO NOT STAY HERE! We travel very often, many times out of the country. I have never experienced such a dirty hotel.||Upon checkout I asked for the manager who wasn't there. I asked for a refund on my room and they said the manager would have to do it. I have emailed him 4 times since our stay, left 3 phone messages, and contacted Choice Hotels corporate 4-5 times. Manager won't return any of my messages. Corporate can only give me points on my rewards card to use on a future visit. VERY DISAPPOINTED in the lack of professionalism and customer support/service.||Again, DO NOT STAY HERE. It's dirty and they have awful customer service. On a good note, the lady who serviced the morning breakfast area...
Read moreI know this is a 2 star hotel but this was a bad experience. 1- on the phone the lady quotes me $108 taxes in. I get there and the lady at the front desk tells me $115. Not the worst price difference but a really annoying business practice. (Imagine taking $7 from every customer... That's a lot of money they are effectively stealing but switching up the price and it's not a deal breaker when u looking to lay your head down and tired). 2- look at the pictures of the curtains in the rooms and the floor. It was that dirty throughout the hotel and there was no excuse of construction. It was quiet. The floor ie carpet in the rooms was just as dirty!! 3- the beds were ok comfortwise but when I looked at the overall place, looked at the sheets (looked clean but based on the room...I couldn't be sure), we all slept with our clothes on. Too scared to catch anything or have random rashes by the next morning as we had kids with us. 4- the breakfast is as you would expect from these kinds of places. Cheap, not great but they offer a little something so there's that. 5- the pool water was mirky!!! It looked like you could catch a disease in there. It was not clear at all! Luckily swimming was not a need while there cos boy oh boy!! NO THERMOSTAT 🫣😬😡 I went to try and switch on the main big thing in the room in the floor and it was not working and they didn't have 1 on the wall. So we had to sleep in the cold until our bodies warmed up with our clothes on.
Good things: check in and check out was ok. Had the pricing hiccup when checking in but otherwise not bad process. Checkout as always is a breeze. wifi works and is offered beds were comfortable enough for a decent sleep. bathroom was decent. the 2 queen rooms have a fridge and microwave. Suuuuppeerr helpful with kids! This might have been my highlight 👍🏽 the front desk lady was kind enough to get me a glass plate to microwave food on so my kids and I didn't microwave Styrofoam and add cancers to our bodies. God bless her for finding one and giving it to me to use.
So all in all... 2 star. The good things were the little things I could get anywhere but the experience and the...
Read moreThe location was right off of Route 8 if I'm not mistaken, so it wasn't what you'd want to call "quiet and idyllic".
The room - essentially a long rectangle - was as advertised - a suite. I wasn't crazy about the setup but that's what we booked, so - my fault. You walk in and you're in the "living room" part. Good size desk against the wall (you could move it, should you be so inclined), a little weathered adjustable office chair that can rock, a firm couch and an armchair I sank in not unpleasantly. There was an actual ceiling fan here, to try to help circulate the air. The A/C unit was at the far end - in the actual "bedroom" part, so it'd be as cold as you wanted in there but way warmer in the "living room". The fan helped, mostly for the air it blew down directly on you from above; not sure it did much to circulate A/C air at all. The center of the room was the bathroom (small'ish normal tub, volcanic hot water, a toilet that flushed without threatening to rip the skin off your derriere but no ceiling fan), directly outside of it stood a surprisingly tall and wide counter avec sink, the obligatory fridge - almost hip height - the microwave and flat tv screen bolted on the wall, and the closet. The bedroom, you'll never guess, had... a bed, two bedside tables with one lamp each (no clock here) another tv bolted on the wall, a chest of three drawers and the aforementioned A/C unit. BTW, you couldn't match what the "TV guide" channel advertised with the remote. Ours didn't anyway.
Breakfast was actually quite good: the home fries looked like take-out from some greasy spoon and just as good! The scrambled eggs had cheddar cheese in them (sign me up!) and they had sausage links. Very forgettable coffee, wee muffins, sugar cereal, yogurts, OJ, a waffle iron, packets of hot sauce, etc.
I do think we got our money's worth, but like I said, I wasn't crazy about the rectangular feel and layout of the room.
Oh yeah, and there was an indoor pool but nobody seemed to know or care...
