I am very dissatisfied my stay at Homewood Suites by Hilton Mahwah. The room was not dusted properly and several areas including table and drawer tops were dusty or dirty with oily fingerprints. In addition, we found cobweb in one of two rooms and had to call the front desk to have someone to come over and remove it. Curtains, carpets, and couches have minor stains and smelled funky; They weren't washed, vacuumed or cleaned regularly. That is not the only problem. When one of my guests were about to use one of two bathrooms in the suite, we found fecal matter in the toilet bowl. This is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. We also found out that the toilet's flushing is very weak. These two problems were supposed to be fixed PRIOR TO my check-in. We called the front desk to alert this and somebody left a plunger outside. This makes sense if I or one of my guests were making bowl movements and somehow clogged the toilet bowl, but we're talking about somebody's feces!! My brother fixed the toilet with the plunger as we got five people in the suite and need two baths. Instead of having a relaxing weekend together as a family, my brother fixed a hotel room's toilet. Very depressing! Found more plungers at other suites' door too. The plumbing problem seems to be common here. Finally, my family and I found that the hotel's electrical wiring is bad in the kitchen area (at least). The electrical stove barely heats up to boil water in a pot. I brought an electric pot to use it in the suit to boil water just in case. It took much longer for it to boil water than when it was used in my house. Maybe because they have many long term residents who use more electricity? The hotel needs an electrician to investigate this issue. The dining and common area (not the front desk) is not cleaned well and I saw trash left on the floor and/or tables. Instead of offering complimentary breakfast (food is just OK for a 3-star hotel), hire specialists to fix problems!! Three of my family members have chronic medical problems with weak immune system. I just hope we don't get sick. It's the worst 3 star hotel we've...

After my recent stay Homewood Suites Hilton MahwahI am feeling completely unsafe to stay in a location or hotel chain that is so poorly handled by the staff and will advice others to be careful so they don't have similar scary experiences.

When I arrived in the hotel on the morning of June 1st at 6.45 am the lady at the front desk told me that she had no reservation by my name...I then provided her with my reservation number and she pulled up the record and printed it for me. She showed me that the reservation name was totally different even though it was attached to my home address, phone number, reservation and Hilton HHonors#and I was very surprised to see this. She was unsure of what was going on and said it may be as I was check in the next morning instead of the night before. Really? She finally gave me a key to a room and when I went upstairs and put my key in and opened the door it could not be opened completely as it was latched from inside and there was someone in that room. I cannot believe that I was about to step into a room where someone was staying and wouldn't have even known about it had the latch not been there. This is a complete threat to my safety and I cannot even imagine what might have happened had the latch not been there! When I ran down to the front desk the lady did not even apologize and said there is something funky with the reservation. She finally gave me a key to another room. I was getting late for work so decided to speak to a manager that evening when I got back.

In the evening when I spoke to the manager he was completely casual about it and said we took care of the issue and did not at all feel the need to apologize for the mess up and completely dismissed it. I am terribly frustrated with the overall experience with #Hilton and may never plan to stay at one again. Poor customer service and worst...

UPDATE: While originally, I gave this hotel five stars, I'm bringing it down to one star. After I left the hotel, I realized I had left an item in the room. When I called, I was told that they didn't have it. I went shopping online to replace it and found MY item for sale, for pickup in the area (it was not a similar item - it was my item) on eBay. The hotel manager wasn't concerned that one of their employees seemed to be selling items 'found' in the hotel (they said they have a lost and found policy and employees are supposed to turn those items in to management). The eBay account this was being sold on was in Rockland County (which is right next to Bergen County) and the hotel's response was they they would reimburse me for the item (and they did), but that they asked the staff and none of them knew anything about it - clearly they are not concerned about their employees selling items out of hotel rooms. It's too bad, too, because the location was great and the original review still stands - it's just that I can't trust that items won't be taken from my room and resold.

This hotel is tucked away off Route 17 in Mahwah, NJ. It's just far enough off the highway to not have highway noise. It's a dog friendly hotel AND it's super clean. There was no evidence of other dogs (no smells, fur, etc.) left in my room or in the hallways/lobbies. The staff was attentive, kind, and helpful. There's a really nice courtyard to sit in and a pool, fitness center and laundry - all were kept so clean and tidy. Highly recommend this property if you need a dog friendly stay in...

**Terrible Experience at Homewood Suites by Hilton Mahwah** I recently stayed at the Homewood Suites by Hilton in Mahwah, and it was an absolute disaster from start to finish. The door to my room did not close properly, and I could actually see the hallway from inside the room. This lack of security is unacceptable. The rooms themselves are severely outdated and poorly maintained, as shown in the multiple pictures I took. The AC system was the loudest I have ever heard in over 100 hotels I’ve stayed in. It was so loud that I could not sleep at all, and when I finally managed to fall asleep, I was rudely awakened at 5 AM by the alarm clock of the previous guest that the Hilton staff failed to remove. To make matters worse, the phone in the room was dirty and gross, and there was a dirty splatter of some sort on the wall. The room kitchen was filthy, and the furniture was damaged, adding to the overall disrepair. This level of cleanliness is appalling. Additionally, during breakfast, we encountered another significant issue. The plates provided were visibly dirty, as shown in the picture we took. When we brought this to the attention of the Hilton staff, instead of addressing the problem professionally, they placed the dirty plates back on top and complained at us in the most rude and disrespectful way. This behavior was unacceptable and greatly marred our experience. This experience was beyond disappointing, and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Hilton needs to address these serious issues immediately.

Exceptional stay. Front desk staff attentive and proactive. In addition, David (front desk) especially does a fine job outfitting the property with fresh seasonal flowers. As we entered to check in…had a brief nice conversation with an elderly man who seemed well acquainted with the staff and area and with a smile mentioned how much David enjoyed flowers. So in walking the grounds, we noticed his handiwork in well watered pots and arrangements. Just lovely. 😊 Spacious rooms; separate open floor plan with combined kitchenette/dining/living area. Nice assortment of Clean Zero products available. Shout out to extremely pleasant kitchen staff, Maggie (am) and Wayne (pm) Service was well done!! Breakfast: buffet frontrunner was chicken carnitas with assorted add ons for tacos! Typical eggs, hash browns, sausage etc. nicely done. Maggie kindly offered an explanation of carnitas selection to our party. ☺️ 5-7pm service- wine & apps: see photos (comp wine/beer snacks) variety was from soup to salad and proteins, also dessert. Watched on as one person decided to eat it as a meal. Smart 🤭 Outside patio well maintained and comfortable seating areas. Great place to stay inside of Mahwah corporate park. Excellent, caters to corporate, but great for families!

This is the far best homewood suites by Hilton my husband and I have encountered. My husband and I travel a lot for both work and leisure. We have been to every Hilton chain including homewood suites by Hilton, Hampton Inn, Hilton resorts, Hilton Garden inn and etc. General Manager David provided exceptional, above and beyond customer service. This is the only location I’ve seen providing complimentary soup, salad, cheese and crackers, wine and beer. The room is fully equipped with kitchen appliances. The layout of the room is best because it provides privacy if you are not by yourself. Mattress is exceptionally comfortable. Full fridge and full size dish washer is not available in other hotels which I appreciate this hotel for having it. Thank you David for your exceptional and wonderful customer service. I had security issues with Hilton Grand vacation, but you made a total difference for me to reconsider Hilton chain in a positive way. Thank you again to David and his staff and I recommend this hotel to anyone because I’ll be returning to this location every time I’m in NY or NJ. It’s very convenient location because its 30-45 min to some part of Manhattan, and 30 min to Fort Lee which is right near George Washington bridge.
