Let me start this by saying that I wanted to pass this along to the resort privately. Upon check out I asked for a management members card so that I could send this discreetly. The front desk representative stated they did not have a card and could only provide me with the map they gave me at check-in. I asked for an email address and just said sorry and tried to hand me the map.
Thank you for your hospitality while we were on vacation I am writing you to express some of the highlights of our trip some of which exceeded expectations others which did not leave such a positive look on the property. The staff is the best asset of the property everyone was kind, courteous, and very helpful. I think that is super critical for me when on vacation is the experience. I am glad to see a joyful, and authentic staff presence through the property. We also enjoyed the welcome beverage provided which makes a great hello.
The dogs barking at 730a, nothing you can do about folks' dogs, the barking was ruffff while on vacation.
The pool closest to the resort has some large and aggressive iguanas and It made it hard to relax there. I believe the number of males is causing them to become more aggressive and fight for territory and breeding. One larger one tried to kill another smaller male while we were lounging. But there are other pools we just left.
The beach cabanas were in a stagnate inlet with little water flow, DISGUSTING. Reeked. I was looking at information to book at these and it takes you to a third-party site that doesn’t show any of the cabanas set up which made me Leary and told my wife we would wait until we checked in to make sure we were not being scammed. Y’all, you can not charge people to lay in that.
The hot tub see photo the ocean was clearer. Ew. I also don’t think it works, I saw folks trying to turn it on by a knob adjacent to it only to have nothing different.
There was no place to turn on the fire pits the knob was removed, I called the desk the engineer tried but stated it was too windy. With the sun setting at 6 pm the lawn games could be better enjoyed with a non-invasive light.
Parking is advertised on the website and their printed placer which you hang in your car is 15 but have increased the rates to 20.
In regards to our room, I think we were put in an older room (which I understand will be remodeled soon.) The AC while loud was not efficient in cooling the room. The loud AC is not a negative for me but for my wife. Carpets had various stains from what looked like metallic nail polish, to a larger stain by what looks like where the fridge leaks. Paper peeling in the bathroom. Rusting in the shower. But what shocked me is there was only a paper copy of the map
I tried to keep my negatives to things that took away from the vacation experience for me. If you are interested in all my points please let me know and I can forward my in-depth experience. That highlights the restaurant, the total grounds, and more.
Regarding the room freshens, this is something I love when I go on vacation it makes me feel so pampered to not have to make my bed. The first day we didn’t get freshened and asked the front desk if we could get it the following day, they advised us of the error they do daily freshens. Points to mention if you are ever looking to excel, with the freshening. Replacing our towels when they have been placed on the floor maybe you are limited in your supply but, also change the ice bucket liners or leave new ones.
I loved was the daily infused waters, and that the fruits changed daily. The lobby was very modern with a coffee bar. Also, the welcome beverage was a nice touch. I love that. I also again can not say enough about the amazing staff. They got cups of ice for me, as there is only an ice machine on the second floor.
Overall, for marathon, it is probably a nice resort it's just not what I expected, and with the limited website, it makes it hard to see...
Read moreMy husband and I had a terrible experience at the Hilton Faro Blanco after always having a wonderful time the past decade visiting their sister property, the Courtyard.
We booked 2 rooms for Memorial Day Weekend, one for us and our 14-month old son, the other for my parents.
We arrived first, and granted, we arrived a couple hours before check-in, therefore our room wasn’t ready. Since we had our baby with us I asked if there were any rooms available at all and that I’d be willing to pay the difference + more to be checked-in early, and I received a solid “no” from the FD agent, Jasmine, without her so much as looking up from her computer. A trained hospitality agent would say we can hold your bags, here’s a list of recommendations to do in the area while you wait, our pool is available, we have a bar open if you’d like to have a drink in the meantime, perhaps a map of the hotel so you can familiarize yourselves, Nope. She was about as much help as a rock and wasn’t willing to lift a finger to offer an inch more of effort. She said she’d call when our room was ready and that was that.
We strolled around the hotel for an hour and came back to the lobby to wait in the air conditioning as our baby was getting fussy. A few people were in line and checked in seemingly, not being told to wait. We grew frustrated. At that point, my husband went to check on our room again and the Front Desk Manager was at the desk this time. She was warm and welcoming, said one room was ready but not the other, which we were fine with since my parents hadn’t arrived yet but did think it was odd we didn’t receive the phone call about the room being ready.
We get the keys and settle in our room. Around 4:30, past check-in time, my parents arrive and I go back down to the lobby to meet them. I see the same FD Manager again whose mood has suddenly changed. I ask about our 2nd room and she said there aren’t any rooms ready. This stumped me because I have never had this happen before, we were given such a hard time when we showed up early because we arrived before check-in, but now that check-in time has arrived, the rooms still aren’t ready. I asked if she had any update when they would be ready, and again recieved a cold “no”. That’s it. I persisted and then I also got a “housekeeping hasn’t updated us” which wasn’t any better of an excuse. We eventually got the keys to that room, but not because they called when the room was ready, but because my husband went again randomly to check on it and the room was ready. They didn’t have any real organization as to who was on the waiting list, it just seemed to be the luck of the draw of when you went up and asked.
This is absolutely unacceptable. On a holiday weekend, how are the staff not adequately prepared to ensure all rooms are ready on time. Again, no offer of anything for the inconvenience or so much as an invitation to enjoy the property while we wait. Basically we’re just told to deal with it without any further explanation.
This set the tone for our entire stay.
The floors in the rooms were disgusting. I walked around barefoot and immediately felt this stickiness all over that made me think the rooms were rushed to be cleaned.
The following day, we all went to the pool around 11am, well after the pool’s opening time, and there were no towels. My husband went to the front desk a total of 3 times and spoke with a gentleman there each time about the towels, and the words “housekeeping will get to it when they get to it” actually came out of his mouth. We ended up walking over to the Courtyard and spent the rest of our time and money there.
We will never be staying at the Hilton Faro...
Read moreMy husband and I decided to take a little get-away for just the 2 of us and we booked the King wellness room with pool view, the photos on the website were so appealing! The room for 1 night was around $550, we did not mind the price, with all that the listing promised to deliver. We drove 7 hours to get there and we actually pulled in to the Marriott lot as that is where GPS took me but we quickly found our way over to the resort, finding the front desk was the next challenge. We saw the Lighthouse Grill and decided since we arrived at breakfast time we would go for a bite, we entered the restaurant building and discovered that is also the location of the front desk, the set up is very odd and confusing. Front desk staff was nice and checked us in easily we then proceeded to the restaurant to eat, we did not see a hostess so we went outside and sat ourselves. We sat for about 20 minutes, we enjoyed the view but were starting to get a bit annoyed that no one had acknowledged us and then finally someone came over, they were clearly annoyed that we sat ourselves and made it abundantly clear. We ordered our breakfast, service was less than mediocre, and food was definitely sub-par. I ordered the shrimp and grits and they were not great, not even good. At this point I was exhausted and just wanted to relax, we waited for our server to come with the bill, she never did. I had to get another server to go find her and bring us the bill. I would normally give grace to a server if they restaurant is busy but this server had us and 1 other table, they as well were not happy with the service. We went and found one of the many hammocks to lay in under the palm trees, now we were enjoying our time, the grounds are beautiful! We quickly received a call from the resort that our room was ready, we went up to our room only to discover that we had been placed in a 2 queens room and it was facing some other buildings, no pool. I called down to guest services and they said ok come get another key, my husband left me in the lobby and he ran to grab the key. He came back and as we walked the ground floor we discovered we were in a room at a very end of the hall, this was a nice touch, far less kids running the halls. We entered the room and were so happy with how beautiful it was, the room was all we wanted and more! I went to look at our view and sadly we discovered no pool view but instead we got an up close and personal view of a fence. I was so tired, I just could not go a third round with this front desk, we accepted the room and collapsed on the bed for a nice little nap. The bed in this room made this whole trip! It was the most comfortable bed we have ever laid in, the pillows and bedding are all Down and it's like being wrapped in a cloud. We put on the TV and discovered they had the Calm app, this was a super nice touch. I really wanted to give this place 5 stars but between the restaurant and wrong room i just can't. I paid for a specific room and did not get it. We were also told there was beach access, there is not. your only options for swimming are with the 2 pools that are packed with kids, I love kids, have a few myself but it would be nice if there was an adult only area. Maybe we are just spoiled from being cruisers and having adult only pools lol. We just expected more, the Hilton brand and this being a Yacht Club, we expected more. The bedroom is their saving grace, would I book there again, probably not. For the price we paid, the service we received,...
