Learn moreI would give this place zero stars if I could. My girlfriend and I stayed at the Hyatt for the week (great hotel, by the way. Completely separate from this dump). We enjoyed the setting of the pool area a bit better than the Hyatt pool and since use of the pool at the lighthouse grill was included with our stay, we decided to enjoy the live music, accessible bar and pool at the lighthouse grill. Every night this week we've gone here, spent at least $50 every night, tipped the wait staff, tipped the musicians and even though the overpriced and bland lobster mac and cheese was loaded with shells and almost inedible, I didn't say a word. I kept my mouth shut because we enjoyed the environment, the live music and available booze.
Fast forward to this evening where we decided to forgo the overpriced food and bring a pizza that we had purchased elsewhere out to the pool. Although we were drinking from the lighthouse grill bar, tipping the wait staff and planning on giving them money for the rest of the night, the manager came and paid us a visit out by the pool. He told us that because we had pizza from another establishment (they don't serve pizza here by the way, the menu is very limited and most of the sub par entrees are upwards of $40), we were asked to leave the premises.
Incredible. I even explained to the manager that we were planning on patronizing their establishment all night by paying their ridiculous prices for alcohol. He did not seem to care and simply told us that "we are a separate establishment from the Hyatt and even if you are patronizing our business, you can't have outside food here". All the while the couple at the table next to us had a cooler full of snacks/chips and they were not asked to leave, nor were they even patronizing the business! The wait staff is not particularly friendly to Hyatt guests and neither is the management regardless of how much money you spend or how much you tip them. I guess they don't realize that most of their business is coming from Hyatt guests?
I wouldn't recommend this establishment, nor will I ever spend another dime here again. Not on this trip or any trip...
Read moreWhen we arrived at the resort we decided to get some breakfast while waiting for our room. We didn't see a host/hostess so we decided to seat ourselves, we went outside as we wanted to enjoy the view and it was very nice! After about 15 minutes we finally received service, got some coffee which their coffee is really good and put in our breakfast order. My husband ordered the pancakes and a few meat sides, I ordered the shrimp and grits and we also ordered some bloody Mary's, also super delicious! My husband was very happy with his breakfast, me not so much, the grits were really really lumpy and it came with 5 or 6 shrimp, for $21, that's just really not a good price. It was supposed to have come with fruit and I finally got that when our server came back to check on us and my husband pointed out to her that I never got it. Service was soooo slow, she only had one other table and I'm not sure where she kept disappearing too but the other table was also grumbling about her lack of service. We finished our breakfast and sat waiting 20 minutes for her to come back so we could get the check, at this point we were realizing that it was way too hot outside to sit there waiting so I went to find my check, bumped into another server, she said she couldn't get us out check but she would go find our server. She finally showed up at our table and asked if we needed anything else, yes please just the check, we really wanted to leave and felt like we were being held there. She came back with the check and I gave her my card, we are normally very good tippers typically will leave 30% IF the service is good, this service was not even remotely worth that so sadly I left 10%, that was more than generous. I feel this restaurant wants to promote itself as a finner dining but it's just not, you can do...
