Thank God hurricane Michael shook this place. There was little available as far as hotels in this area 90 days later so this was a last resort. Hopefully now since new siding and carpet had been installed they may take time to keep it clean. Found a sandal and 3 bags of unopened chips and massive dirt under the bed while looking for my nail polish that rolled under there. I just left it there. It was too nasty for me to retrieve it from that filth. This filthiness was not contributed to by hurricane Michael. It had been there for awhile. We were there 3 weeks for communication restoration before a hand print was cleaned from the window in the hall stairwell. The elderly man had a bottle of alcohol cleaning. Ok as long as it was cleaned. I asked the front desk what gives with the maids since they "cleaned" but didn't leave soap. She told me they are just lazy. I witnessed this myself. I moved my suitcase from the floor to the window and 2 roaches scattered. Came in one evening and 3 wasps were there in the window and the window was never opened. Came in through the a/c I'm guessing. The tub was never cleaned by them and queen sheets were put on a king size bed with no matress protectors. Ollie's staff are very slothful that even the building contractors were complaining about them. Desiree at the front desk punctuates her sentences with huh. Doesn't know how to use the fax machine. I immediately got the impression that she wants you to know she has a title. Called our room early one morning to tell us that the phone man was coming to check the phones. He was starting in our room. He never showed up. She had no clue. Heard other people upstairs complaining about the attitudes so they retrieved their own sheets and towels. I took a hint from them. Room not cleaned on regular basis even when requested. Mirrors were never cleaned. Front desk had an envelope there asking for donations for Desiree. Very tacky. Breakfast sometimes would be out until 1 or 2 pm. If there was a message from the front desk it was delivered by the maid police knocking saying "open the door I got to tell you something". Why not use the phone? It rang in previous calls. I witnessed the maids take up tables that should have been for guests. The bright side was Tiffany was nice and tried to make our stay less traumatic. She should be running the front desk or TC she also has a friendly, bubbly personality. Tonya the manager is nice but a management course would help her a great deal. The printer would be out of ink for days and she was so overwhelmed that she was unable to manage a hotel that was 50% closed. Can't believe this was a...
Read moreWe used this hotel last year as a place to rest for the night on annual trip. There were a couple of minor issues, one the management had little control over - someone smoking in the hall, but over all it was a cheap, but acceptable place to stop for the night. This year we decided to try them again. I'm not sure if we will ever stop there again. We checked in and my wife went upstairs with our small dog while I went out and got luggage from the car. By the time I got back inside, she was back downstairs saying she couldn't get the key card to unlock the door. The person at the front desk said he'd try both keys and if neither would open the door he'd move us to another room. After a try or two, he was able to get it to unlock. He said people leave the card in the slot too long and the trick is too quickly put it in and take it out. I mention the lock is flashing red occasionally and not just immediately after pulling the key card out (low battery?), but he doesn't really say much in response. We put the luggage in the room, then went to go get the rest. Went back up and couldn't get it to unlock. Now we've got luggage trapped in the room. We go downstairs and tell the front desk guy we were still having problems. He went up and again was able to unlock it after a couple or so tries. We want another room, but he says since he can open it, we can either stay or cancel our reservation and go somewhere else because it's too much trouble to switch rooms and we can just get him to unlock it.It's past 9 PM, my wife's getting tired (she was driving) and I've got a bad headache. Trying to find another hotel room, that accepts pets, would take more time and trouble, so we stay basically trapped in the room with only one person able leave at a time because I didn't trust his continued skill and probably luck in being able to finesse the door open.I mentioned it to someone at the front desk who said they were the manager (when I asked) and would take care of it. But this was an unacceptable situation that could have been easily resolved by just switching rooms. There wasn't a lot going on at that hour on a cold...
Read moreThis is the second time I've stayed here, not by choice, but through a transport company that covered the costs of the accommodations. Both times, I've had a terrible experience with several roaches every day, even with all of the room lights on. They purposely keep the room dimly lit to conceal the lack of cleaning. The couch had a heavy marijuana smell. The staff appears to have several employees staying on premises, sometimes even wearing pajamas to change trash bags in public areas. And indeed, they seem to have either an ongoing or a rehabilitation from a drug issue. I alerted the night staff that I needed trash bags to keep the room clean to deter roaches. After being asked to wait at the desk for 15 minutes, the night staff was on the speakerphone with someone speaking loudly, instructing her to tell FedEx that they were counting the money and would wait at the desk when they arrived to get paid, still never received the bags. I was checking emails before realizing how much time had passed, and she had left the hotel phone handset on the desk while she walked away to the back, speaking to the gentleman on the phone about the money. Breakfast on Monday, nothing on Tuesday, and no coffee. Then, on Wednesday, coffee with yogurt and a banana. I don't understand how any commercial business could represent a chain hotel with such poor conditions of vagabonds, unstable management, nasty rooms with roaches and ants? Our microwave didn't work, so the night staff handed me a microwave that I had to carry to the room. This is a disgusting place, worse than an inner-city rent-by-the-hour arrangement. The room had an overwhelming, lingering odor that choked you every time you...
