Went the the ole WH around 12:42am-12:48am last night. Wasn’t too busy, about 10-12 folks and 2 truckers with a half peck of road Rhonda’s. Say in the booth for about 45 mins before who I am sure is named Tammylynn came and asked if we knew what we wanted to drink. We lett’er know we wanted to order enough food to stop a world war and she told us it ain’t the time for that and said she would get us some waters (never did). About 15 mins later her and one other lady who I’m sure is named something between Lorrie and Diane GO AT IT. Walk into the back and just start throwing DOWN. Yelling, screaming, if they got that hot behind the grill they coulda been filling orders for next week already. Everyone in the restaurant is walking towards the back to hear this Maury episode being filmed next to the bacon cooler. This leaves my man Fred as the ONLY person in the whole WH. Bless this mans soul, he wasn’t trained in taking orders or cashing checks, Fred was an elite egg slanggin hash brown sangin’ throw some cheese on them grits prodigy, but a one trick pony. He was nice enough to take our drink orders and a make h2o and ice cocktails for us that Tammylynn had to ask Jeeves to figure out. And was extremely apologetic. We walk out back and Tammylynn is sitting against the dumpster ripping a heater with her head between her knees. Had to let her know we were ready to order and she had to let me know she didn’t care. 2pm hits, Bri comes in, we clean them out on hashbrows and eggs and each of us personally give Fred $20 cash for holding it down. He had every reason to throw the apron down and walk out with Lori and Tammylynn acting like there was only 1 pack of Virginia slims left at the Circle K, but my man didn’t. He deserves recognition for that, it’s hard to find employees that loyal. Bro got a good tip too for being nice, gave them cash so the other 2 didn’t get a cut. All in all it was a normal Waffle House night with a life changing...
Read moreA regular order of Waffle House’s famous scattered, smothered, covered, and chunked hash browns, cooked to an extra crispy degree is golden.
Watching the grill operator prepare orders relayed to him in Waffle House code ( classic dinner lingo) is a timeless spectacle of the culinary arts.
Both fast and accurate in his execution, I couldn’t resist but to change my original plans of taking my food to go, to dinning in. I requested an encore.
The taste was just as I remembered before the turn of the twenty first century. Damn good home cooking. As if mom made it herself.
Origins rooted in the south, you can rest assured that the wait staff’s customer serive is going to come with some good ol’ southern hospitality. The serves are just as warm and sweet as they can be.
But even with all those praises, there were a few flaws that I have to share.
That’s 1) the speed of service.
And 2) the attention to detail.
It was these two observations that prevented me from giving this location all five stars.
As I mentioned earlier, I wanted to take my food to go. One of the servers said she had to tend to in house guest before she could take my order. No biggy, I was enjoying watching the chief.
Regarding attention to detail. I asked another server for a glass of water. She brought it to me in a reasonable amount of time, but as I raised the glass to drink I saw something on the inside of the glass towards the bottom. Looked like remnants of a previous dinners chewed food. Small but gross.
I politely brought it to her attention, and asked for another glass.
Five minutes passed before I ended up asking a different staff member for a glass of water.
I felt they were short handed for the amount of customers they had. But whether they normally operate with that crew size is not known to me.
Despite all the positives and negatives. If you couldn’t tell by the four stars and the above review, I’d still...
Read moreMy husband and I were at a this Waffle House this morning (12/17/2022 at 8:30 am). I’ve only been once before and that was years ago. We sat at the bar where we could see everyone cooking, doing dishes, serving, stocking, everything. I was in awe of these employees, they each had a station where they would stand and cook their item, one person did the meats, one did eggs and grits, one did hash browns and toast and one did waffles, another stocked and there were about five servers and they all served and took turns washing dishes as they had time…😳😳😳. These people worked their rears off, were friendly, brought us great food, provided fantastic service and still had time to talk amongst themselves with the daily chatter. If you haven’t been to a Waffle house on a very busy Saturday morning, you need to do yourself a favor and sit at the bar and watch, it’s amazing… it’s these types of people and the job they do that also make me appreciate what they do and get a glimmer of what it used to be like in this country when people worked like this everyday. I’ve always appreciated every service job, but many that have never worked in this industry have no idea what it takes physically and mentally. I’m glad we ate at the Waffle House. 🥰🥰 Our servers name was Nisha (maybe not spelled right), if you’re reading this, thank you to you and your coworkers. I’m a better person today because I stopped there to eat. Keep up...
