We arrived about 7pm and was given a room that had black clumps of dust from what I assumed was the HVAC system. After showing the front desk the pictures, she gave us a room right next to the elevator. Now, I do not think I would have done this to a valued customer, but that was the case for us. Of course my wife and I returned to the front desk wondering why we were placed in a room next to the elevator. The young lady at the front desk then asked us what room we would like to have as if we were the highly trained member of the Fairfield Inn. We asked not to be placed in a dirty room or a room next to the elevator or ice machine. What we did not anticipate was that our next room would be next to the interstate. We decided to stay in our third room and settled in to rest considering we had just traveled 7 hours with about 6 hours of driving the next day. About 11pm the room next to us turned up the music and began speaking loudly as if a party had broken out. By 2AM we called the front desk. About 5 minutes after the call the laughter got very loud. It was obvious the party members did not like us calling the front desk. So, we called back and was reassured that they would take care of it and we could get some rest. Well, this did not happen!! By 3:45 the music and voices still very loud, we called a third time. This time the guy at the front desk asked us what we thought he should do about it. Really?? This is a Marriott not a second rate motel. We told him maybe he might have to do his job and call the police. FINALLY about 4ish, the party broke up and the music stopped. Now we could get a good night sleep. But wait, it was 4:30 and we were getting up at 6:30. Needless to say that the next day we could have used a good night sleep. The shame of this whole experience is that I decided to wait until 9am the next morning to speak to a manager that I was originally told would be in her office by 8:30. The business manager finally spoke to me and was very pleasant, but I NEVER heard from the manager. The least she could of done was call and listened to us. But she never did. When I got home I decided to call Marriott. Using the number of the Marriott website, they listened and said they would file a report. The conversation, however, felt as though Marriott was just going through the motions. It seems that Marriott and this Fairfleld in Marshall are not concerned with a valued Marriott member. Hope it never...
Read moreMy family and I were very disappointed with our stay at this hotel. The conditions of the hotel are poor. The toiletpaper roll was broken and coming off the wall in our restroom. We brought it to the attention of the front desk staff and she said she'd send maintenance to fix it and he never showed up. There were brown stains on the curtains in our room and the refrigerator was not clean, I had to clean and disinfect it myself. The ice machine was broken on our floor and dead bugs were on the floor around it. The trashcan next to the ice machine had an odor coming from it and it needed to be emptied more often. People were just throwing bags of trash from their room on the floor next to the trashcan. The A/C was shut off in the hallways so it was hot, muggy and odor-filled as we walked to and from our room. The outside pavilion area in the back was dirty and atrocious. You all ought to be ashamed of yourselves for letting it go the way you have. The area out there was not clean, sanitary or even conducive to sit and have a morning cup of coffee. The tables and chairs were filthy and rusted. It's very apparent that nothing has been done to this facility in quite some time. You all need some serious upgrades and cosmetic work. If you all wanted to discourage people from fellowshipping on the back porch area, then you succeeded. Several times I went to the front desk to ask a question or to get a cup for coffee and no one was there. I had to wait several minutes. I went down for breakfast at 8:40 and there was barely anything available. If breakfast is advertised from 7-9am, then you all need to have enough food during that time. MOST people do not come down for breakfast until the last 30-45mins anyway. Because of that, we decided to go to IHOP instead, but one of the reasons I chose this hotel was b/c of the continental breakfast. On a positive note, the associate who checked us in was very friendly and helpful and so was the housekeeping staff who gave us additional towels. My family and I come to Marshall to visit at least once a year to visit other family and sightsee. I will be choosing a different...
Read moreDirty, dirty, dirty. ||Uninformed and oblivious front desk girl (I’d say attendant but this was a young girl that should not be working there). Loitering groups in evening and at night on edges of parking lot. When girl at front desk was informed of the loitering groups, she didn’t know what the word “loitering” meant. ||Pool has been closed for 2 years. Front desk girl initially would not say when the pool was closed, but when asked for clarification, finally admitted it had been 2 years. Website still shows a pool. We choose road trip stays with pools as that is how we like to exercise after a long day in the car. If we had known the pool wasn’t working we would have stayed elsewhere.||Everything was dirty. The elevator, the room, the bathroom, everything. Glad I brought my slippers and Lysol wipes. ||Didn’t realize the comforter was stained until the next morning after my spouse had done his usual sleeping acrobatics. When the flat sheet and top sheet were thrown off, we saw the stains on the comforter. Not pleasant. ||Walls are thin paper. Neighbour’s stomach issue was evident. ||The bathroom is spacious, but it looks like things were removed from the bathroom such as decor and shelves. Perhaps the people loitering have made off with items?||I am attaching pictures of the bathroom’s disgusting, dirty walls and toilet paper roll holder. I’d attach more but I think these pics should give a good enough idea of the state of this hotel. ||I highly suggest this place be avoided. It gives Marriott family...
