Do not book a room at this hotel I never was treated so badly. I booked last minute because I have a lot of work to do and at my home. I have renovations being done and there’s too much chaos. I needed this work to be done. My stepfather gave me a ride because my car is in the shop for repair from an accident. When I booked a room, I left a note that it may be a late check in because I didn’t know what time I was able to get over there so they would know. When I got to the hotel, my stepfather went in with me because I realized I did not have a card that I booked a room on so he could pay for the room for me. The gentleman behind the desk lied to me he said there was a $50 deposit but they took 100 then he refused to give me a receipt at that time. He said you’ll get it when you leave. I grab my things out of the vehicle and I had left a bag in the car because I couldn’t carry everything up so my stepfather proceeds to carry it up to my room for me stays about 1015 minutes. The reason why I booked a room for two people because I knew my boyfriend once he was done with his job he was going to be over there. I said just call me when you’re here and I come down and let you in well I accidentally dozed off and fell asleep and the gentleman downstairs was giving him a hard time to come up so I went down to talk to this gentleman. First he refused and said no he’s not coming up there. You came in with another gentleman he’s up. I said there’s not another gentleman upstairs. That was my stepfather. He paid for the room for me because of my card situation. He left in about 10 minutes. Then he proceeds to tell me well I should’ve left him know now I was gonna have a late guest and leave recorded to desk and I’m like does that say anywhere in the contract that I must do that? Of course it doesn’t then eventually he says OK he can stay till 6 AM. Then he must leave. I said that’s ridiculous . So I went back to my room. I had a lot of files on me and I wanted to show this gentleman how we are all related because I know he was insinuating. I was a prostitute. Even showing this information to him these documents he still insist that he must leave at 6 AM. I leave at 11 AM. I said I am not paying for two Ubers to get out of here. I’ve already got one set up in the morning to get us home, he did not care. He was so rude. I even said to him you’re insinuating. I’m a whore that’s what’s going on here so I proceeded back up in my room. We packed our bags and we left immediately and I told the gentleman not the last time you hear from me I will get a full refund for this room. Do not go to this hotel. They are rude and...
Read moreThe worst hotel experience I've ever had. We unfortunately broke down in Mathis, Texas on our way to the beach and had to stay the night at this La Quinta. First off... Upon arrival, as we entered the building, there was a group of men at the pool that wolf-whistled my girl. Now, that's not the hotel's fault, but it was a start to the worst stay in my 38 years of existence. The counter girl was very pleasant as we checked in and booked us in a single bed room for $96 and a $100 cash deposit. As we checked into the room... We noticed an odor of smoke and a dirty bathroom, but we were road weary and tired, so we just needed to bed down for the night. We tried to shower, but there wasn't a drop of warm water to be had, so a cold 2 minute shower it was! Now, I am a smoker and my girl is not, so she went to bed and I walked the outer premises to smoke and walked the dog a couple times in the night, but never smoked in my room. The next morning, we were up for the free hot breakfast, which was a decent breakfast... Except for the hair in my eggs, which I discarded and just laughed off (all part of the roadside nightmare stay) Upon checkout, I presented my receipt for the $100 deposit, which they needed to check the room before returning the deposit. fair enough, except when they returned from my room... They accused me of smoking in my room and took a picture of my discarded pack in the trash and claimed it was proof. I asked for the manager, and this is where it gets comical... She claims the silent smoke alarm alerted corporate that we were smoking in the room!! The funny thing is, there was a panel behind the front desk that was supposedly the silent corporate alarm, yet when I asked if she could show it to me, she said I wasn't able to come back to see this "hi-tec corporate silent alarm" I then asked to see the room where she showed me the smoke alarm on the ceiling and I asked "if I had smoked on here... Wouldn't the alarm have gone off?" And her reply was "this is the silent alarm that triggers the corporate office sir" so I asked her then if it had supposedly gone off... Why didn't anybody knock on the door to verify? At this point she said it was my word against hers and that I should be happy I didn't put my credit card down, or she would've charged me $250 for triggering the silent corporate alarm. I can say at least say I have a funny story about the La Quinta Inn in Mathis, Texas and it only...
Read moreLost my keys (long story) off the interstate in Mathis. On the way down to the beach. It was Thanksgiving day. Triple A towed us to the nearest hotel this La Quinta. We had to push the car into a spot horizontally so it wouldn't be in the way. We checked with the front desk - no problem. Checked with them at 0900 the next morning as we waited to hear back about a tow or locksmith - no problem. Around 1400, we're waiting by the car (Friday) because the locksmith in Corpus Christi is booked and can't make it out till 1600. Who shows up? The police with an unhappy looking lady who didn't identify herself. The police informed us the manager of the property is concerned about our vehicle being there and called them.
I stayed on those hard beds, I informed three different front desk clerks about the situation. I paid 107 bucks to sleep. I didn't end up in a hotel over looking the beach. I seriously couldn't believe that the manager couldn't approach us hanging around the car and ask what's going on. Nor could the front desk clerks inform them either. You can chalk it up to misscommunication if you'd like but I won't be staying at any La Quinta's for a long time. No car keys , stuck in this little town and in Texas.
TEXAS. Where I kid you not everyones polite, it's bless you and have a great day and smiles all around. The lady at the front desk when we got there was just the nicest. But really - really. Couldn't walk up and ask about the vehicle. Had to explain to the police officers the situation, let them know that my car wasn't part of some organized crime/drugs from mexico ring that they get calls about.
Appreciate getting to spend the day after Thanksgiving in the parking lot for a few hours after checkout.
Positive note - breakfast was decent and the gas station across the way - super friendly owners, good Thanksgiving pizza and...
